Had a late lunch at Kulture on Friday around 2pm, and let me tell you -- they understood the assignment. My friend grabbed the Kulture Club Chicken, and I went for the Fried Catfish and Grits. Our waitress, Savannah (pretty sure that was her name), was a gem. She didn't just take our order; she guided us. She told my friend the club had goat cheese and broke down exactly why she probably wouldn't like it if she wasn't into blue cheese. Then she looked at me -- pescatarian, hungry -- and said, "Add the shrimp and get the crab sauce on top." Best decision I made all day. The plate didn't stand a chance. I would've taken an "after" photo, but I cleaned my plate. The staff were also super helpful with parking validation and making sure we were set. Booked here because the marketing online was excellent and this looked upscale. The decor and establishment itself is right by the stadium so prime location! Interior looks nice as well but not as polished as the pics. Compared to the other establishments in the area it's a little outdated and could use a revamp. The food itself had excellent presentation but was lacking in quality. Tried a few appetizers which weren't very good, however the BREAD and Entree were delicious! Skip this place. Kulture is not worth your time, money, nor parking challenges of downtown. My table of 3 had 90 minutes to sit and eat per the brunch "rush" that the restaurant has. Though there was no rush at all while I was there with friends. In fact, the terrible waiter rushed us to order and was visibly annoyed that we were not wanting to order until the other person arrived. Once we order he must've taken a break because he did not return to the table until after the food had been brought out by kitchen staff. Lastly the terrible server did not show the ticket he told me the price I asked to review it and he let out a deep sigh and clutched the reader as if only he could hold it. I realized that he was clutching it because he had added an additional tip for himself. Despite the resturant automatically charging each guest 20% grautity. Additionally, the food...all of our plates came out separately with mine coming out 10 - 11 minutes after the others because the kitchen didn't have my order. WOULD recommend (brunch). Came by on Sunday afternoon for brunch with a decent size group. They have a parking garage where you can get validated parking for 2 hours, just FYI. We were sat relatively quick, I would put reservation for this place if I were you, but when we came it wasn't too busy. We were sat and was greeted by our server, Fabian. The vibe was very nice, had the R&B jams in the background but wasn't overly loud to where you can't converse. It was a beautiful sunny day outside and it reflected all throughout the large windows of the restaurant. A+ for the ambiance. We started off with mimosa carafes for the table, great blend of juice and champagne. No complaints at all about the mimosas. He started us with a round of biscuits, with butter & jelly on the side. Would give it overall rating of 8.5/10, I actually liked them they weren't too sweetened like other biscuits. For food, I ordered the Buttermilk Waffles, turkey links, and side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. The food was good, above average in my opinion. The buttermilk waffles weren't overly crisp but still had nice warm flavor (8.7/10), turkey links were satisfactory (8.1/10), and the mac & cheese was above average as well, not out of this world but pretty good nonetheless (8.0/10). In my opinion, I give this restaurant a 5-stars, not just because of the food (4 stars), but just the overall experience. The ambiance was great, our server was hilarious, kept us entertained the entire time, and they were convenient nonetheless. They do 20% auto-gratuity as well. Was a calmer brunch with a good vibe, something that is very underrated in a city like Houston. Customer service was top-tier. Trev & Christina were very friendly, and attentive The atmosphere had a perfect blend of vibrant and mellow with an urban vibe. I ordered the chicken & waffles and the portion size was very hefty. The chicken was huge, juicy, and crispy enough to make a satisfying crunch but missing a little extra seasoning. A perfect place for brunch downtown and hanging with family and friends. Music was soulful, staff were friendly, and very accommodating. Biscuits : 10/10.. Buttery, flakey, and delicious. First the food was on point, we did Sunday Brunch, I had the Crab Omelette which was delicious. The lump crab was super fresh and sweet, the omelette was cooked to perfection and the seafood lemon butter sauce tied it in with a nice kiss. I was driving so I had the coconut mojito mocktail, super flavorful and refreshing. Ohh! The homemade biscuits were a nice southern treat also. My wife had the fried lamb chops and grits, she was a lady as usual and refused to pick up the bone with her hand but they tasted so good she certainly thought about it. Our waitress/ bartender was phenomenal ( I'm sorry I can't remember her name) but she was great. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter soon after. I ordered the fried catfish and substituted the grits for mac n cheese. The catfish was crispy. The sauce was a great addition along with the crab meat and shrimp! What I didnt care for was the mac n cheese...the cheese sauce was soupy and didnt attach to the noodles. Overall great dish. This place was very decent to me and I truly mean that because I wouldn't necessarily say it was that great or amazing but it wasn't bad either. I did like the overall aesthetic of the place. It was definitely nicely and intentionally decorated, and that was clear to see. They also played some light music so it's not somewhere where you can't hear the other person that you're talking to because they're blasting music, but there is still music. However, the food to me though it was pretty good, it wasn't amazing. It was nothing really to write home about. I got the omelette and I got a side and even with getting an additional side, I still just don't feel like it really filled me up. I also felt like the service was just OK. Our server wasn't mean but he wasn't particularly friendly either and the brunch hours are pretty limited considering it closes completely down at 4:30 so definitely not somewhere to go for any sort of late brunch experience and it's not a brunch party by any means. Overall three stars with five star potential. I arrived after what I assume was the brunch rush on a Saturday @ 5PM. There was only one other table occupied. Unfortunately they were sold out of popular items like the oxtails which my Mothers was really looking forward to. The lemon pepper wings were great. Very hot and fresh. The catfish strips were yummy although I had to ask three times for hot sauce, lemon and tartar sauce. They only have Crystal hot sauce and I prefer Louisiana. The drinks were delicious but could've been stronger. I had an espresso martini with Don Julio reposado my sister had the lemon drop and my other sister had a margarita. My mother doesn't drink, but they did make her a nice mocktail, which I thought was wonderful. It should be advertised. Our bartender/server was amazing. I don't remember her name, but she had a gorgeous smile and long braids. She definitely catered to us. It made me feel special on my birthday. I would go back when they have a live performance or earlier for brunch. I was surprised how small the restaurant is. I definitely thought it was larger. It almost look like they could fit more tables in there. Two things I think they could work on immediately - the menus look dirty, tattered and old although I understand due to frequency of use they might not be. I would laminate menus or provide QR codes. Also.. the mirrors in the women's restroom are ridiculous.They are all frosted with a design. You cannot see yourself clearly in the mirror above the sink or the full length body mirror and l've never seen that in any restaurant but I noticed they have this design behind the bottle selection at the back of the bar. Finding parking at Kulture can be a bit tricky, but the restaurant offers a voucher for up to 2 hours of free parking in the Marriott garage, which is an excellent perk once you figure it out. We could only get that information by calling the restaurant in advance! (You've been warned!) Walking in, the atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, with cultural influences woven into the decor, from the artwork to the furniture. The space feels intentional, with nods to heritage and history that set the tone for a memorable dining experience. I loved it so much that I had to get a few photos in! The FOOD: I ordered the seared salmon, which came with chimichurri bearnaise, seared shrimp, lump crab, charred broccolini, garlic, olive, brown butter, and mac and cheese on the side. The salmon had a beautifully crisp sear, and the chimichurri bearnaise added a creamy yet herby contrast. The lump crab and shrimp made it feel indulgent, and the mac and cheese was a solid comfort side. I don't know what cheeses they used, but it definitely was multiple and super well mixed for a deliciously creamy mac and cheese. (I know I'm lactose-intolerant, but I couldn't help myself. Not every place serves **clears throat** mac and cheese the way it's supposed to be made. I also tasted some of what my table ordered: Grilled peri-peri lamb chops, which were cooked beautifully with a balsamic red wine reduction and paired with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, grits, and collard greens. The lamb was flavorful and tender and the sides were rich and well season. I have to give it to every side dish...they were all well-seasoned! Also, the roasted half chicken was super juicy with an oven-roasted chicken jus, glazed onions, and mashed potatoes. A truly comforting and well-balanced dish. It gave me the 'itis! IYKYK The buttermilk biscuits were a must-try, served with butter, grape jam, and honey. I didn't care for the honey; the butter was rich, and the blueberry jam was incredibly fresh, packed with real chunks of blueberries. Yummy yum yum. I had a mojito with lemonade instead of club soda (since I'm not a fan of club soda). It had potential, but it felt a little watered down... Still refreshing, but not as bold as I'd hoped. The service was outstanding. Our server was so very full of personality, cracking jokes and keeping the energy lively. It made for an experience filled with laughter, great food, and full bellies! (Even though we definitely try to suck it in). Lol. We were so very full, that we did not eat dessert. We just packed our to-go plates and sat in our chairs. Haha. When it hit 7:00 p.m., a DJ came and omg... It was a party! He played all the old-school '90s and '80s music that leaves you feeling so good and calm and groovy. We loved every minute. I had a solid afternoon meal at Kulture. Christina, our server, was super sweet and really on top of things, even while juggling a big table along with us. Management even stopped by a few times to check in, which I thought was a nice touch. The food started strong, the complimentary biscuits were amazing, and the menu has a soulful flair that I really enjoyed. The fried chicken, collard greens, and grits were all very good. I also tried the fried catfish over grits, and that one missed the mark for me. The grits made the fish soggy and the catfish itself didn't have much flavor. I don't think that dish reflects the rest of the menu though, and I'd definitely come back to try more. If I had to nitpick, the kitchen was a bit slow and the DJ was cranking the volume a little high for 12:30 in the afternoon. My first time dining at this restaurant for a group brunch event with friends prior to attending concert at Toyota Center. First, let me start by saying I was thoroughly impressed by the service from waitstaff that took care of our group of 14 on this Sunday afternoon. Our drinks came out on time along with the food, hot and freshly delivered to tables. We experienced no long wait times on Sunday. Not sure if that's the case on Saturday. We ordered a variety of entrées from the menu. The Catfish and grits with lump crab was amazing! Also, we ordered oxtails & grits, fried chicken with sides and fried lamb chops, etc. Everyone was in agreement and happy their meals. Those homemade biscuits will surely having you in a chokehold as they are fluff soft & buttery delicious! The food tasted very flavorful and not over seasoned. I accidentally found this spot walking down Avenida. I went in planning to get carryout but decided to eat in. I'm glad I did. The host and Christina were great servers. Even those not assigned to me made sure I was ok. I liked the aesthetic and it was low noise and didn't seem very busy, however many of the tables were reserved but I sat in the open seating near the bar. My only gripe was my table was shaky while I enjoyed my food. Everything was delicious. I had the salmon dip, rice balls (can't recall the official name) and gumbo. The homemade chips were something I thought I didn't need but was wrong. So fresh! The balls were different but in a good way. I actually ended up putting a couple of them in my gumbo because that was the star of the show. It was sooooo yummy! Flavor, meats, okra (which I don't usually eat but ate all of it), collards (nice touch) and rice. It's not a thick sauce but it was exactly what it needed to be. I'm so glad we came here before we left Houston heading back to East Texas. A great spot to stop by when you are in the area...a black owned and ran restaurant that was top tier. Kulture is located in downtown Houston where there are parking garages close by and street parking is available. Only issue you might have with steer parking is if there is a Astro game going on which it was when we happening to stop by. But again parking garage is only about a block away. So not problem to park then walk to the restaurant. Kulture is located on the corner I'm the middle of downtown and when you walking up to the restaurant you can see inside because it's glass coming to floor windows. Inside the restaurant it has an industrial feel with exposed vents that colored black which I think was very cute. The inside is beautiful and has an area where live music can be set up. So I would love to come back later night time either on a weekend or week night that this is available. We came early afternoon so the menu was more brunch items available so I was not able to try that oxtail pasta I was salivating over online...lol But anyways...funny enough the whole table ordered the fried chicken dinner and they gave you the WHOLE chicken, with a side of greens, and Mac and cheese. The chicken was alright seasoned pretty well, Mac and cheese was good, the biscuits...chile they were so fluffy and soft. I could eat those all day long with some of the honey butter and some actually honey! Yas! But those greens were really tough and had too many steams that needed to be slow cooked. I think they must have braised them but that is not how you should cook greens. I do wish they had an individual cornbread available but they don't. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Now the drink I ordered was so good. Now I can't remember the name of it and if I find a picture of it I will add that to this review. My new favorite comfort food in HTX! We stopped in for brunch before the game. Everything was prepared exactly as we wanted. Even my very picky husband's pancakes (light with the crisp edges) were perfect-phew! I had the Gumbo - and yes, I'll be returning for seconds before I leave HTX in a couple days. On a recent business trip to Houston I visited this restaurant. I found it very tasty and enjoyable.

Came here for a Sunday brunch with some old coworker friends. Finding where to park can be confusing but if you go around the building, there is a parking garage and the restaurant validate parking for up to two hours. Once parked there is an elevator that takes you down to the main floor where the restaurant is located. When I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted immediately and directed to my table to meet with my friend. The staff was very attentive I believe our waitress's name was Jasmine. We ordered a bottle of champagne which was $25 and came with 3 different juices of your choice. I ordered the catfish and grits, which I did need to add a little bit of salt to make more flavorful, but after that, it was delicious the fish was fried hard to perfection. We all ended up getting the same thing, but they got a side of mac & cheese and sunny side egg which both said we're good paired with the catfish. The main reason I loved my experience at this restaurant is it was not crowded for a Sunday, and the music was played at a reasonable level so that you can have conversations with the people in your party. I'm in Houston for a conference and this was walking distance from the convention center. Even though it was packed, I was able to sit at the bar to grad lunch. The bartender apologized for the slow service. I didn't have any issues with the wait time for my food. The place is beautiful inside and very modern. ATTN: MARCUS - It is obvious that the service at Kulture is not managed the same way as The Breakfast Klub. The wife and I visited Kulture on 03/06/26 and had a rude bartender that served as our waiter. Food was good, but service sucked (despite the restaurant being pretty empty). The waiter was passive aggressive...meaning, he appeared to be nice, but with a nasty attitude. Again, despite the place being empty, we had to wait for him to eventually stop what he was doing to take our order and wait on him. In addition when I asked to see the details of my bill, he said "trust me, it's right". The bill was correct, but I don't like how he just took my card to charge it without allowing me to review charges. I will tip over 20% when service is great, but this is an example of why a 20% auto gratuity is a bad idea. The staff knows they will get it anyway, so there is no need to provide good service. I literally visit when Marium Echo is performing, and as often as I can. In regards to the restaurant, the food and drinks are great. I'm partial to their brunch over dinner-- it's excellent! This place is centrally located and does have a nice aesthetically. The staff were super nice and helpful. During the week, they do happy hour which has half off drinks and food. I opted to get the burger sliders with fries. I think the bartender did a good job with my mango margarita drink. The food was good and did not disappoint. read more
