Philly cheese steak sandwich and fries

On vacation and we happen to come across this restaurant. so happy I did! It was absolutely delicious I got the Philly cheese steak sandwich.

BYG has prepared quite a few meals for us over the years and they've always been dependable, reliable and with good quality. They have a quite extensive menu but I'll usually choose one of their salads or a burger. This recent visit I had a burger which was perfectly cooked and waffle fries which were crisp and tasty. My companion had the spaghetti and meatballs which, though not pretty, was good with a garlicky sauce. I've cut down on my pasta consumption but it smelled really tempting. Nothing fancy here, just good food in generous portions.

stopped in at backyard grill this week with three friends for lunch. everyone tried a dif dish. the restaurant is spotless, bright, and the menu can be found online/on a board in the restaurant/above the order line. a huge menu. the chicken greek salad was really good; my greek salad was good--but the pieces in it were a big chop, and just didn't appeal to me. not enough dressing (already dressed) and i don't go overboard with salad dressings. the lentil soup was delicious and a great deal. pita was a bit fluffier than i liked but warm and good with the hummus scoop we all shared. bathrooms were super clean and well stocked with soap and towels. thru no fault of their own, the entire street has a major construction project so parking may be a bit challenging right now. many take out orders--especially the greek chicken which sounds delicious.

I came here with my family for an early lunch. I ordered the chicken souvlaki on pita, which was okay. The saganaki cheese curds were so good! I also ate some of my kids' grilled cheese sandwich, and I think they put it on garlic bread or something because it was DELICIOUS! Not pictured is my husband's cheesy beef, and he also said the bread was the best part.

IMO they have the best burger in the Midwest. I love to add mushrooms, grilled onions & their great BBQ sauce. The bun , oh the bun...Stellar!

Wow, I happened to be looking for something new for dinner and Backyard Grill did not disappoint! The kebab plate w filet mignon was as tender as could be, and as a card carrying Greek, the salad and potatoes were perfection. Everything was incredibly fresh, veggies like they were picked this afternoon from the backyard. Even my Greek Grandfathercould not rival the potatoes! Better yet, like most 'Greek' places, they have a huge varied menu, and great prices. I could make three meals out of this, and I skipped the rice that also normally comes from it! Check this place out, I'm already planning my next visit!

The ability to successfully & consecutively feed hundreds of US Army soldiers over this weekend was nothing short of impressive. The management team clearly has mastered the ability to establish cohesion amongst this team. You could see the staff resetting tables, communicating in the background, calling out orders, thanking soldiers for their service and patronage. The food was consistently delicious. I tried the Patty Melt paired with the mashed potatoes & ohh boy I think I need a nap! The bottom line is that if you're in this area w/ an appetite...BYG isn't something you'd wanna miss

There is a monstrous screen behind the bar for sports, but they mostly show videos of Greece, but they are mesmerizing videos of a beautiful country. It's a cleaner version of Dengeo's. And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. The first time we went, they had a serve yourself soda fountain and they since got rid of it and sell soda in bottles and cans. They do still have a self-serve water station. Once you order, staff will bring to your table, so please tip when you order or leave on the table as they do come by and clear your table as well. It is first come first served and you grab your own tables. I've been there on weekends and weeknights and they get pretty packed. The food is flavorful and quite tasty. The portions are huge so you're definitely going to bring something home. Nostimo is now in our rotation of places to go in a pinch and they do have an outdoor seating area, too.

Since there was a total of 11 and the seating is first come first serve, we decided to call to see if they had reservations. They did take our name and reserved a table. When we arrived we noticed a table was reserved and we were informed that it was our table. We sat and looked over the menus. When we were ready my 2 boys and I went up to place our order. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.

We drive past Grill House all the time, it has been in Northbrook for a long time (I just found out…read morethat it's been here for 9 years), however, this was the first time that we ever visited, and I am happy that we finally did! My husband and I wanted a quick and good dinner one Sunday recently, and we picked Grill House after I read some good reviews on Yelp.  Although it's a casual, fast-food-style restaurant, the menu is surprisingly extensive, with a wide variety of healthy Greek dishes. It was definitely helpful to look over their menu online before we visited, because the menu board inside could be a bit overwhelming.  I guess I still looked quite confused when I saw 2 kiosks in front of the ordering counter.  A staff behind the counter offered to help, and I just ordered directly with him.  Later of the evening I discovered that he's the friendly owner Gus. After placing our order at the counter, we were given a table number, and our food was delivered promptly.  I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Plate ($17.50 at the time, it's now listed online for $18), while my husband ordered a Filet Mignon Souvlaki Plate ($25.50).  Each souvlaki plate included a soup or salad, rice and potato (1 piece), a side of veggies, and pita bread in a paper bag.  It was a generous amount of food! We both chose the lentil soup, which was served piping hot in a nice ceramic bowl with a lid. It was flavorful and comforting. My chicken souvlaki was tender and juicy, never dry, and both the rice and potato were delicious. We were both impressed with the quality and value of the meal. I ordered a lemonade, which is considered a fountain drink ($4.00) and comes with free refills, though I couldn't even finish my first glass. My husband would have ordered a glass of wine if we hadn't had plans afterward, so we were happy to see that Grill House also serves beer and wine for a future visit. The service was another highlight. Everyone was warm and welcoming; a special shout-out to Kevin, who was very attentive and checked in on us several times.  When I was taking photos around the restaurant, the owner Gus greeted me again, which was a nice personal touch. The restaurant itself was bright, clean, and inviting. There's also a pleasant patio for those who prefer to dine outdoors. We will definitely be back to try more dishes from their extensive menu.  I am glad that we finally gave Grill House a try!

Nikkos offers a wide variety of food, not just Greek. Burgers, dogs, Italian beef, etc. I know from experience both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern places generally offer very good burgers, but I haven't personally tried Nikkos'. I must try them soon. What I *have* tried are Italian beef, gyro, and chicken, both in plate and sandwich forms. Gyro and chicken dishes did not disappoint. Their chicken kebab plate is my daughter's new go-to Greek dish, and I can personally attest to their gyro and tzatziki sauce. Super legit. Also, French fries are good. I've tried their Italian beef now twice, but both times I thought they didn't do a very good job getting rid of beef taint. Gravy was okay; nothing special. I'd personally put them right at the same level as Portillo's. It's got a very old-school diner feel to the place. Menus are displayed with pictures over the counter, making it super easy to read and order. As far as friendliness of the cashier goes, I'd rate them 3 of 5. I was greeted and tended by a very nice lady once, but it was two grumpy dudes the other time who were all business and no play. Nothing wrong with their work ethics or order accuracy or anything. They were just unpleasant. Just so I'm clear, these encounters don't usually deter my star ratings. More so an FYI. All in all, I'm happy with my Greek plates at Nikkos. I'll probably go back to try rest of the other menu items like shish kebab or even a burger.
