Started coming during covid because of the "backyard" and have been hooked ever since. It says "barbecue", but don't be decieved into thinking it's greasy American barbecue. I like to call it "clean and classy barbecue" with pulled meats and roasted veggies for sides. The basic grilled chicken salad is stellar! Drinks are perfectly made. I'm also a burger snob and this is one of the only places I will eat my burger. So good! Atmosphere is icing on the cake. We could bring our little ones on a Friday night and have adult conversation while they met other kids and and payed with the giant games in the backyard. Live music is always fantastic. To get a seat on a weekend evening, you must be there by 4:45 pm or prepare for a wait. We even had my husband's 50th birthday here and hired in our own live music and they made a special menu just for our crowd. Best local place around! read more

I have driven by here several of times and their sign always looks so inviting, so my boyfriend and I decided to take his family here today when they came in to visit. If I could sum up our entire experience in one word, it is: underwhelming. Why? The service. They appeared to be severely understaffed. But not only that, I felt like we were forgotten about half the time. We had to remind our server of drink orders that were forgotten, we had to request plates because they forgot to bring them. Yes, I was eating my appetizer off of a napkin. We had to remind them to bring us silverware. The only positive was the food. 9/14/22: This was our first visit. Came for a couple of drinks. We sat at the bar and Elise was bartending. We had a beer, the Titos lemonade and a cheeseburger. We had to get an extra shot ot Titos to make the lemonade better. When the cheeseburger arrived, the sweet potato fries were cold. I asked Elise if she could bring some hot fries, and she happily did. There were plenty of TV's throughout, and interesting decor. I am really impressed with this restaurant and have eaten here several times. The restaurant has seating at the front where it is a bit quieter and seating in the bar area if you like music. Outside is where it's at! They have a shaded patio that has fans to keep you cool in the summer heat. They provide live entertainment and a play area for the kids. The service is wonderful and the staff are very present in making sure you like your food and that your drinks are always filled. The food itself is mouth watering good! If you like pork, this is the place for you! The ribs are tender and tasty, the burgers have just the right amount of seasoning. For me, the pork nachos are where they shine, but I also love me some nachos. I highly recommend this great restaurant! read more

Like all brand new businesses, it's a work in progress and there are a few kinks to work out but they literally Just opened. Located next to Azure nail salon on the north side of 544. It's the old Southfork location so there is a front dining room, back and a small patio. They are working with a limited menu. Not sure if it's due to CoVid or b/c they just opened. The waitstaff seems a little flustered but the customers seemed to come in waves and they are taking curbside orders as well. Brisket burger w/ fries at $12 seemed a tad steep but it was very good! Had the perfect amount of sauce. Not too messy but just right. Fries are on the skinner side and crispy. Kids had the mini corn dogs at $4.99 and those were ok. Margaritas were pretty good! We stopped in because this was listed as the top BBQ spot in the area. Although good, driving 10-15 minutes toward the city will leave you much more satisfied. It has an almost Carolina undertone in the flavor and they do not serve BBQ sauce with their food. I'm mad at myself for not trying this place earlier! I always passed by the colorfully lit patio until yesterday when I decided to dine in. It was pretty crowded, but there's more space in the back and the backyard. It was a little chilly that day, but the workers turned on the patio heaters. I had the deviled eggs with brisket to start. It was good, but I wish the brisket was served warm instead of cold. I ordered the brisket burger, which was SO. FREAKING. AMAZING! The meat was cooked perfectly. We had a change of plans tonight and decided to try out BackYard Murphy. Had no idea Wednesday was $6.00 burger night! The veggie burger was full price but it was such a pleasant surprise that the other burgers were almost half price. Everyone loved their burgers and my son loved the chicken tacos. The sweet potato fries and the side of green beans were so yummy. Can't remember the name of the beer I tried - blood honey? It was nice. For dessert we tried the banana pudding and it was loaded with bananas and tasty! The outside seating area is fantastic. Loved seeing the leaves fall around us while we ate dinner. Magical spot. Went in for our first time, restaurant wasn't really busy. We were a party of 3 and there were maybe 2 other tables when we arrived. I ordered salmon which was cooked decently. Our server forgot several requests, things like ranch for our jalapeño poppers, very slow to refill our drinks. Someone else finally came around and helped him out but it was not a great experience. Food was very mediocre and service was a disappointment. I was hoping to have a decent food or restaurant experience to frequent in Murphy so we didn't have to venture out much but unfortunately, BackYard missed the mark and I'm not sure we will be back. Best patio in Murphy! Food is solid, the bar knows what's up, and the service is stellar. So why only 4 stars? The owner is just too dang nice...he really should tell parents to keep an eye on their little cherubs. It was full on Lord of the Flies the last time we were there. The kids literally took over the patio, taking all the games to build a fort, and then started chunking blocks and disks about. We had a random toddler join our table, and we had 2 close calls with a soccer ball to the head...good thing those kids knew how to play? Anyway, perhaps if the soccer parents read this, they can learn to respect the owner and the idea that they are not the only patrons at this place. I had the pulled pork tacos and hubby had the buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were Amazing! And I love that the sweet potato fries were not over salted. Service was disordered and inconsistent (confusion between 2 servers secondary being much better). Received a wrong entree but decided to keep it since we would have to wait again. Flavorless and extremely small portions on appetizers and most entrees (and If you have to douse your entrees in sauce for flavor, it's definitely not a good entree). The bar in the back is the place to be. Everyone seems to know each other by name. I've been here about six times, and might be the newbie. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive (but not overly so). The music always seems to be something I like. I keep hearing others singing along. The food is excellent. Backyard has a super cool setup with both indoor and outdoor dining options. The outdoor area is pet friendly and has some outdoor games which is a plus for sure. We had good service during our visit. I was with a big party, so I was able to sample lots of things. The pulled pork nachos are a huge portion. Brisket deviled eggs were good, but the brisket was rather dry. The grilled shrimp was well seasoned and tasty, but is a rather small portion. Just returned from our first visit to this bar-grill and we are very impressed with all aspects of the BackYard. Interestingly, we had a Back Yard in our neighborhood in the Lakeview area of New Orleans. No relation but the same basic business model. There are two inside dining areas: one at the front door and a second down the hallway towards the rear of the building. The one in the rear is smaller but has a bar area and opens to the outside dining area. There are several game/play areas for kids. The beverage selection is expansive with a lot of alcohol choices including multiple beer and wine offerings. The menu is fairly broad with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings, and meal platters such as steak, ribs, salmon, grilled shrimp, chicken, etc. Service was attentive and very professional. And each employee we interfaced with was very friendly. Genuinely friendly. Great job! I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich with fries while my wife chose the cheese burger with sweet potato fries. Both are large, especially the chicken breast. The fries side would each serve two. The burger was thick and properly prepared. It came fully dressed. The buffalo sauce on the chicken was favorably spicy but not nuclear. Nice. We will be back to explore more of the menu. read more

I have been to Back Yard several times over the past year. We always gave excellent service. The food is great, beer is cold, and titos and lemonade hits the spot on a hot day. The outdoor area has yard games, mini arcade games and is super family friendly. Its also a great spot to hang out or watch a game. They have fans and umbrellas to help stay cool out back and attentive servers to refill your ice water or drinks. I was there last week and noticed the manager/owner is out there hustling, making sure everyone has drinks and that the food is great. That right there is a sign of a well run establishment. The main entrees were honestly a bit bland and the burgers weren't very juicy; however, I'm definitely paying for what I get!!! Went to Backyard the night before Easter with someone that uses a wheelchair. We went to experience the live music and have some dinner. It was a bit awkward getting to the patio area. We had to snake around people and chairs to get to the back. Seat yourself because nobody is going to assist you. The expanded metal table we sat at had food on it and stuck in the holes. In about 10 minutes we were offered drinks. We ordered the deviled eggs, Texas twinkles, and brisket queso. Beer came and was cold. Food came and was appropriate temperature the queso cooled fast in the middle temperature outside. Overall the food was decent. Nothing blew my hair back. The entertainment was a local group that provided a mix of original and covers. Kids and dogs add to the overall noise level. If you are looking for a quiet evening, this is not the place for it.
