But this, this was delicious. To eat I got their monte cristo. Perfect blend of sweet and savory. The candied bacon on it was beyond unbelievable. I enjoyed my first visit to Bacon Jam. My wife, youngest son, and I made the trek to Bacon Jam on a Saturday morning. It was Valentines Day so I'm sure that increased business. We had a five minute wait to be seated. There is some table seating, coffee bar seating, and another dining area further back. Our waitress was new but friendly enough. I had the 110 classic, my wife had a sandwich, and my son had a patty melt. I liked my breakfast (sausage was good), but they only gave me one slice of bread, which was a challenge having eggs over medium. I also wish restaurants geared toward breakfast had fresh potatoes instead of frozen. My wife and son enjoyed their meals. Our group of 4 was enjoying bike riding on the nearby Panhandle Trail when we wanted to stop for brunch on a beautiful Sunday morning in late September. Bacon Jam in MacDonald was the clear choice. 1) Located only 2 blocks from the trail 2) with a bicycle parking rack 3) super fast service. Order anything with bacon jam! The pumpkin spice latte (offers both almond and oats milk alternatives) was delicious. Some meals were too heavy on the salt but not the tomato soup that comes as a side to the bacon jam grilled cheese. The restaurant including the rest rooms were nice and clean. We chose to try Bacon Jam for Father's Day breakfast and we were not the only ones! They had a decent crowd on hand by 930am. The space looks small from the outside, but had a decent amount of counter and table seating available inside. The historic building is beautiful and the inside has been recently renovated to feel clean, bright, and welcoming. We got two different eggs benedict dishes, a side of scrapple, and a country hash. The food was a step up from basic diner food and was delicious. The staff were friendly and were working as quickly as possible to serve all of the guests in a timely manner. I'm glad to finally have a breakfast/brunch/lunch spot available in this little town. The bathrooms were also newly renovated and clean. Parking is outside on the street in downtown McDonald. Can't wait to come back for a dedicated coffee bar trip! read more

Went here for breakfast. We're the only ones there at 9am on a Saturday. Should have been a warning sign. The waitress was nice and attentive. Coffee was good and lots of offerings. Food was just meh. They some kind of cumin or other strange spice on their breakfast potatoes which renders them near inedible. They eggs Benny were just okay. Sausage and gravy over biscuits was meh too. Back to our other regular place from now on. read more

When we walked in, one of the customers welcomed us and told us they were a little short staffed that day, but we should take a seat. She gave us the menus and said we'd like everything. In no time at all, the waitress also welcomed us. We ordered the grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Very tasty. The staff were friendly and knew many of the customers. My wife and I stopped by here on Sunday early afternoon and were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere and decor. The staff were friendly but inexperienced. The menu design and descriptions DO NOT match the food. The food at best is cheap dinner food and nothing more. So it's better than a fast food chain but not by much. The best thing was a plain cup of black coffee but the waitress never returned with a refill. Bacon Jam is a great breakfast spot. The food was fantastic and service was friendly. Between us we had the Bacon Jam Breakfast Sandwich, the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits (add eggs) and the Scrapple. The Sausage Gravy portion was large - two opened biscuits covered in Gravy. It had the perfect amount of pepper in it. I think I put too much syrup on the scrapple but it was good. My friend said the Sandwich was delicious and she's a tough sell, so it means a lot that she said this! We sat by the fire which was inviting. There aren't a lot of tables but they are spaced nicely apart so you don't feel like you're eating with the people next to you. The lot behind the restaurant is small but we had no issues parking. 9am on a Saturday it was still slow but it was getting pretty busy closer to 10am. This would be a great restaurant to hit the Panhandle trail and then visit afterwards on a nice day. Definitely recommend! read more

From the pictures you would think this is a trendy cute new café breakfast place. It does look that way. But then you walk in and the smell hits you. It doesn't smell like coffee or breakfast food, it smells like old lady and stale cigarettes. Which OK if you can get over that then you get your food and everything is too salty. Even the omelette. The potatoes were inedible as they were so salty. I wanted to like this place. The people were nice. But I will not be coming back. read more

My brother and I went here upon recommendation after bike riding the Panhandle/Montour trails. We had not been in the area for about three years but had heard this place was right off the trail so we visited and were NOT disappointed. Our waitress was super friendly and service was fast. Run to this little local gem. I had sausage gravy and biscuits; it was plentiful, hot and very tasty. My mom and sister in law had the McDonald Hash. Crispy potatoes, mushrooms, onions, peppers sausage gravy and eggs your style. They loved it. My husband went traditional bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast. The have an in house barista and lots of coffee options. They do lunch here as well, so we will be in to try that next!! read more

What a great find in McDonald, PA! I was looking for a breakfast place to take my grandsons. Bacon Jam happened to be a couple of blocks away. Opening just three months ago, I expect it will be a popular restaurant very quickly. The food was amazing. The servings were large and everything was delicious! The prices were what I would expect for this day and age, about $15 - $20/ pp. Although this is more than you may want to spend on three children at the spur of the moment breakfast outing, it was worth it. This is a much needed worthwhile destination for McDonald. The food is really good and they have unique things that you won't find at a regular local diner, like scrapple, candied bacon, and beignets for example. They also have an espresso machine. Sure it's a little bit more expensive but the food is definitely a step above regular diner food. When I was there they had some 1950s/60s playlist going, which was very enjoyable, and the waitresses all seemed very nice. read more

Impressive for McDonald! Clean, well decorated environment for dining! I had ordered a Pub Burger and it was outstanding and cooked perfectly. Wonderful gem in McDonald, PA. It was a 25 minute drive for breakfast this morning but totally worth it! Inventive coffee (peanut butter latte) and tea drinks and amazing service to go along with delicious breakfast fare. I wish I took photos but we were too busy enjoying the bacon avocado omelet and monte cristo sandwich. They used 3 types of bacon in the omelet and it was fabulous! We cant wait to go back and try other items. I'm not one to go out for breakfast unless there are items on the menu that aren't easily made at home and this place hit it out of the park! read more
