I came here for my birthday celebration on a Saturday night, and I had a great time. I made a reservation with the manager Wendell. You must make a reservation because it is a tight restaurant. I first ate dinner with my boyfriend, which was a great time. I ordered the steak mofongo, which was to die for. The bartender Suely was awesome at her job. She was so attentive, and made sure that we had a good experience. Then at 10 o'clock I have the back booth for my friends, and I to sit and have drinks. The DJ was very good. He played a mixture of everything. The place had awesome lighting and was a vibe. I wish the place was bigger and also the prices. Are kind of on the more expensive side. Eventually towards the end of the night they offered $100 bottles with my boyfriend bought because that was a cheap price. The birthday sign is super cute and it definitely instagram-able. The sign and sparklers make a cute spectacle. Hookah is also available but they don't refill I don't think. I came here one night on a weekday unexpected so let me say it is a nice place the walls are covered in art and all of the tables are 1/2 booth. The music LOUD and the play list was for a dancing crowd that has had many drinks not for a slow weekday. They have hookah here 2 flavors and it's amazing smooth it's a def gem here. For drinks we got margaritas which were good but the food was completely off. My friend got plantain sliders which he said were good but it's to much plantain after the first one. He literally ate one slider and left the other two. He also ordered the shrimp on plantain and it was topped with guacamole and a white sauce. The shrimps were very small and not flavorful at all we literally ate 2 and left the rest. The shrimp seem to be undercooked cold not enjoyable. I ordered the Diablo mami which is 1/2 pineapple rice which had no pineapples inside 3 cold shrimp, tuna, tostones and some more stuff the rice was hard not edible just nasty. Came here for a birthday dinner. And it I feel bad leaving a negative review but the food was terrible. I ordered the churrasco steak. It came out cold as did everything else. It had a sliver of churrasco sauce on top. The fried calamari was soooooo salty. The sushi was terrible and the tostones with the chicken on top also cold. I would not come back here for food. This place is so Instagram-worthy so definitely come through dressed up and ready to take pictures at your table, by the colorful walls, or neon signs. Out of the appetizers, the main one worth getting is La Yola. First of all, great presentation. Second, whatever sauce is made with the shrimp and topped on the sweet plantain is delicious! It's creamy, sweet yet savory, and all around a nice combination of flavors. The Mar y Tierra was definitely the better sushi roll giving a little surf & turf. From the neon signs and lights to the floor to ceiling bar it looks so awesome. They play really great music also hip hop , reggaeton and a lot of remixes. Had a reservation at 9:30 for a party of 8, we were seated 30 minutes later. When we were finally seated at the table, we were served with two broken glasses filled with water which nipped two of our party-members. We ordered food together and it came separately, with my own food coming 15 minutes after everyone else in my party. In addition, we came here to celebrate a birthday, we watched more than 5 other guests receive a "happy birthday" song and dessert, our party did not receive that treatment - at all. Upon receiving the check which was almost $500, we called over the manager to discuss all the things that had gone wrong. When we discussed our reservation with the manager, he told us he "couldn't make people leave" if they stayed seated after the check -- took absolutely no accountability for how getting seated later than planned would effect the rest of our night. When we brought up the glasses, he told us that he had no control over the status of the glasses in the restaurant. Finally, when we discussed not receiving the birthday treatment *every other party* received, he told us that he was never notified. When a woman came by with a birthday sign, she turned the light on, and WALKED AWAY from our table. No "Happy Birthday", no song, no dessert, nothing. First & furmost this place should be banned! Me & my group of friends were racially profiled at this establishment. Now I know many restaurants have a dress codes & the right to refuse anyone at the door. But you can't tell someone that they can't come in because they don't fit the "dress code". When 1. I've been to Bad Habits quite a few times since they opened last summer. There's a lot of things I enjoy but certain aspects need work. The food is pretty good - I've been here a few times for dinner and their sushi and picadera platter are my fav. The drinks are good and strong and the bartenders are friendly for the most part. The service table-side could be a little better however. Even if you make a reservation you're only limited to 1.5 hours due to how small it is and how few tables there are so keep that in mind, even if you plan to buy bottles or keep drinking. All in all it's a fun experience and the music is great if you're into latin music (mainly reggaeton) and hip hop. It gets packeddddd on weekends so def come with a reservation or plan to wait over an hour. read more

Super cute place. Decided to finally try this place after it's been on my radar. The vibe is super cute and picturesque. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 reservation and for two people, our seating was a little too close to the other patrons. It almost felt that those next to us were close enough to be apart of our date. During COVID times, I do think they need to be more mindful of spacing. I love the concept of Dominican sushi but don't enjoy trekking up to the heights or BX from Astoria so I was very excited to be introduced to Bad Habits! While the menu is not as extensive as competitors like Mamasushi there are still a good number of options and easy modifications to make it veggie friendly! I love the tres golpes deviled eggs, it is a bit on the small side but the unique flavor makes it worth the purchase and they are very accommodating about swapping out the Dominican Salami for extra cheese. In terms of rolls my go to is El Poderoso minus the kani as a vegetarian modification and there is the conejo as well, very filling with great flavors. For my side dish I had the spinach mash which is apparently a typo for creamed spinach which should really be called milky spinach and I DO NOT recommend this dish at all, either take it off the menu or consider revamping it. To drink I had the Bad Habits (highly recommend, a little bit sweeter than my usual cocktail choices but not overly sweet), Dragonberry spritz - basically bubbly with a shot of dragonberry bacardi (it's ok), and the Dragonberry Sangria (definitely on the sweeter side, would prefer the Bad Habits.) Overall I really like this place minus the spinach oh and sometimes the music is a tad loud or maybe I am just getting old... but the selection is great! read more

Astoria is known for amazing and soft nights. Being my first time getting to bad habits, I just got mean faces and somebody sending a security guard to intimidate me and my friend suddenly the host remembered that she set us at the table. Nice food and amazing music , sadly the host always was passing by my table and after make and move us with a excuse for "some reservations" then table remain empty after all.I was showing part of the "Latino vibe" to a friend which ends in a night with sours faces and chasing around. I would re think to came and have the same experience, no manager apologize and came to check after us , seems like this is the kind of attention. This place has been on my list of where to go for some time, and I called a week in advanced and they were fully booked, but the hostess was very accommodating. I was told to keep calling back for any cancellations. Unfortunately the day of I called and no reservations, so I highly recommend calling ahead of time. I showed up the day of and waited about 15 minutes and was seated outside. The inside decor is very instagram worthy, and super cute. We ordered the fried rice in pineapple, and pork chops, tequenos, and platano sliders. Food was amazing and 10/10. We got bebecita drinks and it was made perfectly. Music was great as well. My only complain is the service. We asked our waiter multiple times for utensils, water, and our request were ignored despite asking him 2-3 times.
