This place is a must if you are a fan of seafood. Everytime I come here, I am welcomed with a warm greeting, especially by the manager of the establishment. The food here is amazing and you dont every have to choose between quality and quantity as you get both. This is my choice of restaurant when im in the mood for some good seafood. If you order the set meal, you get a ridiculous amount of food (about 4 courses of a variety of foods) and there is no concern that you will leave unsatisfied. Came here for the daily lunch special and tbh I think that's the most worth time to come to this restaurant. I lived around the area for the majority of my life and have seen restaurants come and go in this huge space, so I was curious to see what the hype was on this new Korean sushi place. Food was very fresh and presented nicely, service was OK and always plenty of spots since the restaurant is HUGE. They have a private lot for parking which is nice. If you go during normal hours, the sets are pricey (like $100-$200+) but I hear it is soooooo much food. I don't think anyone I know has finished it. read more

We were a family of 6 who went for lunch. One is a kid (10 yrs old) and menus online mentioned a Kids Menu but that was not the case. The selection for lunch was very limited. We had to order one of the lunch specials and that's it. There was a sign on our table saying that they had Salmon Teriyaki but since it was not a lunch special, our kid could not order it. Instead, our kid had to order the Grilled Salmon Lunch Special which had no sauce on it. When we asked for some teriyaki sauce to put on it, they didnt give it to us. I've been slacking in writing reviews ever since the pandemic. This is another great spot I have revisited since the pandemic. They have sanitizers in many places and their tables are partitioned with pretty decent material not like the cheap ones where you might bump into and break. This is the newest location they have opened, bigger than Fort Lee and no headache with parking meters. This spot is more of a Korean traditional sushi/sashimi place not like omakase or your local platter togo place. This establishment is probably the only Korean style you will find in NJ unless you go over the bridge. Food was still good, some side dishes changed but still good and good portion size. The night we went was fee days before Christmas and was surprised it got packed, I guess it was sashimi night. Service was not a problem for me, I hate running out of water and keep on asking for more but before even asking that was kept. They do have few private rooms upstairs but I think there is a minimum or for business parties, try calling I forgot. Overall nice place I'd recommend for dinner and drinks, and NO it's not a fast food spot. read more

This review of Bada Story is based solely on their outdoor dining during the Covid-19 Pandemic ... and I was impressed! Bada Story has a great outdoor set up, a good amount of tables are set up outside in their parking lot, and out front at their outdoor dining tent entrance there is a sign that they take all necessary precautions to help with contact tracing as well. When you enter they take your temperature, and they seat you at tables as socially distant as possible from other dining groups. Once seated they request that you fill out a form and provide them with your name, number, and email so that they can contact you if necessary. Every staff member also wears masks, and requests that all dinners do as well unless eating. In efforts to help with proper outdoor dining measures, instead of disposable paper menus they request that you visit their website (www.badastory.com) to view the menu on your smartphone. For the event that you don't have one, I did see an elderly couple nearby get a physical menu... whether or not they disinfect that after I am not sure. Not only was I super impressed with Bada Story's reopening outdoor dining procedures, but I was very happy to see that they have their awesome lunch specials at this location as well. They have a pretty epic lunch special which is available 7 days a week! How many places offer that?? They have 9 options between $19.99 - $24.55 that come with so much food - fresh sushi and plenty of side dishes. I ordered the Sashimi Special (12 fresh sashimi pieces) and my friend got the Sushi Special (8 sushi pieces) and with our choices included with both our meals were a korean style octopus salad, 5 pieces of tempura, a bowl of udon, and a few pieces of a california roll. Now if that isn't bang for your buck, what is? Their regular menu is available as well, as well as take out of their lunch special. The only complaint if I were to have one is about the service. The service industry is hurting right now, and it's understandable that they might be short staffed. The system that they have going works for them though - the host also takes your order which was fine, and the servers go between all tables bringing out all the food as it's being completed from the kitchen (also fine)... so here is my one complaint: no one ok staff was clearing all of our empty plates off the table. I'm fact we had to start stacking our bowls and dishes next to us to make room for the new ones coming out. Fortunately we had an extra table and so we were able to stack everything there. It's located in Sylvan avenue and they have a separate parking area (valet parking). Came here for Monday dinner, and I was quite surprised at how crowded it was. Fortunately, my friends and I did not have to wait to get seated, but I later saw people waiting to be seated. I recommend making a reservation! The place is clean and modern. (But there is only one stall for the women's restroom, not that this creates a long line). We ordered assorted sashimi for two ($139.99) and an housemade eel sushi (I think it was around $35-$40) and some hot sake and beer. This was more than enough for three people. The staff member kindly told us that the eel sushi set my come out later due to the orders they have flooding in. It was nice for them to inform us about the delay. The food came out nonstop including the sides (corn cheese, fried tempura, egg, etc). There is a spicy seafood soup + rice that comes out at the end of the course, and we couldn't finish it They have 10% off if you pay in cash! Will be back with family soon. read more

If possible, I would give zero star to this poorly managed restaurant. Me and my family who are visiting jersey from other state went there on Friday. We were told that the service will be slow since they have lots of customers. And they also informed us that the order will be taken by the first come first serve base. So we placed our order around 12, and we were waiting for 40 minutes. Nothing but free side dishes were only thing that had offered to us for that 40 minutes. BUT, other two tables around us ( they came and placed order AFTER us ) already got their meal. I was patiently waiting when we saw them, but after they are half way done with their second course, I called the server and asked about why my foods are not ready yet. First, they told me the order was prepared by order of arrival. So I mentioned that we were earlier than other tables, and it turns out the server or the manager was messed up with placing orders. So we could get the meal after freakin long 50 minutes. The server who took our order ( brown long pony tail - mid aged asian woman ) was so rude. The service was horrible. After this shit happened, she NEVER apologize. The manager was nice at least. He was trying to solve the problem and make us feel little bit better and properly treated. Be aware of this restaurant! If you want fresh and delicious sashimi, this is the place to go. All their sashimi cuts were thick and very high quality. The hot foods were delicious as well. The price point was perfect too for the amount of food given and the quality of sashimi you pay for. I took my bf here for his birthday dinner and I wanted to make sure I chose a place that had the proper set up to dine indoors. With the pandemic going on, it is hard to achieve social distancing and separation between different parties. Bada Story definitely made me feel safe eating and each party was at least 6 ft apart and there was a plexi glass surrounding each party. Our server was Chad. He recommended us the omakase for 2 which came with 13 different types of fish and all these other side dishes that contained seafood cooked in different styles (steamed, fried, and grilled.. you name it, they served it) It was VERY FRESH. Goodness, Chad gave us a quick tutorial on how to eat the sashimi and gave us a background as to where their fish came from. He was very knowledgable and my bf was really happy to eat here. Most of their fish was shipped from Korea and different parts of the world. The abundance of food is incredible and they take a lot of pride in making sure their customers are happy. I also noticed a few of their staff came by to see if we were enjoying our food before they stepped away. I must say, the customer service and food is exceptional. Amazing ambiance, all the workers are warm and friendly. Now. To the food. Seafood is here ridiculously fresh, even the fried dishes are fresh! Chad, is the best. Alot of us were pretty ignorant when it came to all these sea creatures that we never had and he showed us the way. Made sure we ate certain dishes with their corresponding sauces! The soup they serve at the end was so salty couldn't eat it.... The portions are big, but lacking in quality. Came here for last min week night dinner because the reviews were good and was expecting to have a very good experience- but it was very underwhelming to say the least. The restaurant is very large and pretty, prices are not bad- but the food was just ok. Nothing remarkable at all, really don't know why they were so busy when their food is not that good at all. We usually only go to Korean sashimi restaurants in nyc where we are from and this restaurant did not hold up to nyc quality or service at all. They were out of the fish for their live sashimi set so they only served us one kind of fish and also didn't include all the sides/appetizers that were stated to come out with the set we ordered. When we asked why this was the case- we were told that the menu changed years ago and so it wasn't exactly the same as what was listed/pictured. This is totally fine if that's the case, but y'all should prob update your menus or let your customers know out of courtesy before they order. The worst part was that the man at the front desk who seems to be the owner or manager- had a snarky attitude since the minute we came in without a reservation and when we had questions about the menu. Been a fan since the Fort Lee location, this new location on is def bigger and better, both the food quality and service!! Been here thrice during the pandemic, each time I've been more than impressed, especially with the service and safety measures. I came here for Valentine's Day, excited to finally eat out with my husband. I've been to Bada Story multiple times so I know what to expect for our dinner. The menu also consists of a picture that shows what the meal will look like. However, our meal did not come close to my prior experiences or the picture shown on the menu. I was disappointed for the following reasons. A variety of dishes are suppose to come out with our Assorted Sashimi set that is $149.99. The complementary soup is suppose to consist of mussels, but there were 3 small pieces of fish bones in it. There was no basket of steamed dumplings or vegetables. The complementary salad had no fresh seafood in it. There were a couple greens, carrots, and cabbage with seasoned imitation crab meat. It usually consists of sea cucumber and other fresh(er) seafood. We were also suppose to receive some fresh oyster, sea cucumber, and sea squirt. But instead we were give 2 abalone. I checked on the Yelp page and saw that customers who ordered the same set were given abalone with sea squirt. I confronted our server and asked why the menu was so lackadaisical because nothing was meeting my expectations. She said that they had run out of many ingredients. I then asked, why we weren't told before ordering. She had no response. She went and explained to the manager and he did not bother to come over to apologize for the poor service. We made a reservation and were seated in the back corner near the bathroom, my flag meter went up but I didn't wanna make a big deal to ruin the mood. My welcoming waitress was amazing, courteous and bubbly explaining the menu they have (This girl deserves the manager position) There's no a la carte or small orders of sushi for dinner, only complete course/sets based on the type of sashimi and number of people you have. We were bummed we couldn't order rolls to go along with our sushi and sashimi. Regardless the food came out and we start munching. Then we got this new waitress out of nowhere and her demeanor and tactless nature just made the night go 180. We continued to eat and not bother staff...hoping it was just her. We spoke with the floor manager to see if he'd help out with the final course of the meal because we saw him help the family a few tables away and he was joking around and laughing, seemed like a fun guy. We asked if they had anything other than white rice ( a common request ) and he replies rudely with "that's all we got". And then they brought the last course which was a soup, left it on the burner and never returned to help serve it (which he did for the other family). Even when we were walking out not one person said goodbye, the manager even locking eyes with me and then turning around to pretend he had something to do. Look...don't treat people like this.
