Came here with friends who recommended the place. We ordered the 4 person bada special. The oysters were sweet and plump. The agedashi tofu and cheese corn were ok and yummy. We added a 6 count of oysters : they too were sweet and tasted like the ocean. However; when the boat was delivered by John: with the salmon, halibut, flounder, yellow tail and toro...it was impressive. The cuts were very generous abs the fish melted. What was really nice was that John and Michelle taught us how to eat the fish the Korean way wrapped in perilla leaf, ssamjang, slice of garlic and slice of jalapeño...that flavor blew my taste buds away like bossam but much milder. Then came the uni ....just perfect; sweet and salty and creamy. Then the uni rice ...was getting full. Then the congee or juk came out what a perfect ending to the dinner. The place is decorated simply but the service from John and Michelle made us feel like we were at their house and they were so inviting and charming; a very memorable meal. This is a small size restaurant but still has nice clean and modern setting. We were a party of two and did a sashimi combo for two. Food was fresh and delicious. The portion was perfect for two. You have to understand what this place is to appreciate it. Korean style sashimi. Yes, they have some traditional sushi items. But if you want normal sashimi or sushi I would suggest going to a Japanese sushi joint. You'd probably get a better experience and food there. However, if you want Korean style sashimi... Cutting up of live flounder. Knife work is uniquely Korean. Comes with sesame leaves, garlic, peppers, etc. set menu also comes with many side dishes and soup. That's what this place does. Now, as to quality of the food it was fresh which is the most important when talking about raw fish. Side dishes were for most part passable. The wife who runs the front of the house was very nice and attentive. In Korean style if you need something you have to call her over but that's normal. She served the food promptly and got us everything we needed while giving us the privacy to converse. Ambiance is quite plain. Don't come here on your first date. But it was clean and comfortable. So, I rate this place 4 stars. My wife and I came for lunch, and we both ordered chirashi bowls. We thought that the fish tasted fresh, but for the price, you really do not get a lot of it. The Uni is brought in twice a week from Santa Barbara, according to the owner lady that served our uni up super fresh. There was 0 bitter after taste and it's likely the freshest uni I've ever consumed. Melt in your mouth sea butter. So once he told us to just wait a bit then it tasted wonderful. So if they would have told us that we would have waited to savor that bite. the hubs who came late said it was wonderful! They also introduced us to the perilla leaf with the red korean sauce to eat with the white fish! It was so yummy like that! Upon arriving, I was seated by the nicest Korean server I've met in recent times. She was kind, polite and professional during me and my friend's whole time there. The prices are a bit steep but the food was really good, so I felt like they were justified. They also did let me and my friend stay talking until they closed (so we basically were there from 6:30pm till closing time, they didn't hurry us to get out or anything of the sort). Visited here on Father's Day as we happened to see it on our way to our old faithful, New Garden Chinese Restaurant. They are very new to the plaza and with their grand opening sign hung in the entry way, we decided to give them a try! We were about 15 min early for their lunch/dinner service which began at 2pm however the chef welcomed us to take a seat and let us know he was happy to serve us without waiting. Right off the bat, impeccable service from a genuinely kind chef (possibly owner?), a huge win in my book. We opted for their sashimi combo L, which was listed to serve 4 people. Although we had a party of 5, the quantity was plentiful, everything was delicious and we left feeling very satisfied. Something to note- some of the appetizers (such as the oysters which were super fresh and sweet) came in counts of 4 as it was part of the combo listed for 4 people so in those instances you will need to choose who gets dibs! The sashimi was well cut, nicely chilled and very fresh. The appetizers were all very enjoyable and the meal was finished off with a traditional Korean spicy stew and rice. It was very much like a omakase for a group which I enjoyed If you find yourself in the area, please go in and support Bada (pronounced bah-dah which means ocean in Korean ) Sushi! Came in and my girlfriend had to use the restroom, they looked at us like if we were homeless just there for the restroom. After sitting and waiting they finally attended us and when I asked the lady if they had all you can eat she stared at me blankly while her coworker watching from the back laughed out loud obnoxiously. This is where Koreans go for their sashimi. It's such a hidden gem. Parking is in a lot so there's usually a space to be found. I highly recommend the sashimi set, it's such a good deal. At first I thought $110 for two people was a little steep for just sashimi but the dishes just kept coming out! Jalapeño poppers, baked mussels, corn cheese, nurunji (scorched rice), roasted whole mackerel, on and on. All freshly made and perfectly delicious. You choose between either mixed or live sashimi - mixed sashimi is traditional Japanese style sashimi, live sashimi is Korean style sashimi which is a variety of white fish like halibut. I went with korean sashimi and the owner explained that they had killed the fish just that morning so it definitely was fresh and sweet. The waitress was super attentive and sweet and made sure to regularly check up on us and refill our sesame leaves and other side dishes. The mixed sashimi combo ia really a good deal as it comes with a lot of dishes: raw oysters, fish stew, tempura, porridge, chefs selection of rice, mussels, grilled fish and a couple of other small hot dishes. The couple that works there are the owners. And so glad they are still in business despite slow business. The wife is very sweet and she acknowledged us when we came in; she remembered that we haven't been there for a while. It is typically quite quiet and no wait. Ordered a small sashimi combo for pickup on a Saturday evening. The lady on the phone said it'll take 30min to get it ready (and it did). The lady was very friendly and the inside was also very clean and new. Now the food. The sashimi was AMAZING. You can tell that it was fresh because none of the fish had the unpleasant fishy taste. You could literally eat the sashimi without any soy sauce and it was still good and clean. And the thick sliced sashimi...wow....they MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. It was so good! Even the sashimi with the skin was chewy and didn't have any of the fishy taste. Anyone who doesn't like the fishy taste/salmon can definitely give this place a try and they'll get a different perspective afterwards. The only downer was that their white fish cuts were too thin, and that there were no red tuna cuts (the most common ones). But a plus was the raw wasabi. It was my first time trying it and it was much spicier and I enjoyed the seeds that were felt in every bite. For the side dishes, I liked that the combo also included fries, which consisted of an onion/yam/shrimp/broccoli/squash/sweet pumpkin. Didn't really see the use of the second sauce though...The other side dishes were mussels, wakame, jalapeno poppers with salmon, fukushinzuke, and cucumber pickles, which if you look inside also had octopus slices. yum. The spicy fish soup was ok. It was a bit oilier than the clean flavor that I was expecting. There were also these mochi balls with katsuobushi on top and stuffed with tofu. This was unique and chewy and good. The grilled fish also had a lot of meat despite the appearance. Seems this place is new, and I'm so glad that they opened, because there aren't that many Korean sushi places around. But a restaurant like this deserves more people to know about them! I went today for an early dinner with some friends and decided to get the Large assorted sashimi boat to share amongst 5 girls. It was definitely more than enough because we also ordered a side of oysters. The sashimi on the boat.... Ughhhhh it was all chef's kiss! All the slices were fat, juicy, and fresh. Can I just say the uni was the best I have had in a while. The ama ebi was so big and juicy! Like you could tell it was fresh because it was so bouncy and not slimy like other places! I cannot stress enough, the quality here is top tier! I'm drooling as I'm typing this review. The service was also amazing I cannot thank the staff enough for being so kind to my non-korean friends!
