I've been to this restaurant twice, and the food quality has been consistently excellent. I had another wonderful dining experience here tonight! The presentation of the sliced pork belly with cucumber, served hanging on a wooden rack, was absolutely stunning and unique. It paired perfectly with the spicy dipping sauce underneath. The shredded potato was also fantastic, perfectly crisp, light, and full of flavor. The last time I had Sichuan Boiled Fish was delicious. The fish was fresh and tender, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and infused with the wonderful aroma of Sichuan peppercorns. Everything we ordered was delicious. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was excellent. Everyone who works here is friendly, welcoming, and polite. I'll definitely be back. Five stars!

If you are craving authentic Szechuan cuisine, look no further than Mountain House in Rowland Heights. This restaurant is gorgeous and the food is absolutely AMAZING! It feels so relaxing when you're dining here - I cannot recommend this place enough. My favorite was the Lazi Chicken and their Mapo Tofu. The presentation for the Swing Pork Belly was beautiful but it wasn't what I liked best. The Steamed Fish was VERY fresh! Everything I ordered was all very good. The prices are inexpensive and you're also getting top notch service. Mountain House is a 10/10!

Mountain House in Rowland Heights, CA is absolutely gorgeous as if you are stepping into a Chinese Palace. Details and atmosphere is impeccable that simply brings joy to your experience. You are being served the most authentic Chinese cuisine such as Sauerkraut Fish Soup, Peking Style Beef Short Ribs, Teppan Garlic Shrimp, Mapo Tofu, Eggplant & String Beans, Kung Pao Chicken and Beef Fried Rice. Now I wonder if the new San Gabriel location will live up to the Rowland Heights one?

If you're looking for bold Sichuan food with a great dining atmosphere, Mountain House is definitely worth checking out. The traditional interior decor is beautifully done and really sets the mood as soon as you walk in. The food itself is quite good and hits those signature spicy and numbing notes well. The Swing Pork Belly is a fun order mostly for the presentation, but the sliced pork and chili-garlic sauce definitely hold their own. The Fish In Sour Cabbage Soup is comforting--the broth strikes a nice tangy balance, and the fish was fairly tender. We also tried the Green Pepper Mao Xue Wang, which brought plenty of that authentic numbing heat, and the Ma-la Prawns, which had a nice, fiery kick.

I've heard about this place for years and finally had the chance to try it. Definitely lived up to the hype. The interior was nice with a traditional Chinese vibe to it. Food was great. My personal favorite was the Pepper Beef Tongue.

Came here for lunch for the first time, and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has a really cool interior design: koi pond, bamboo water fountain, and Chinese pergola booth seatings. The lights are soft and the background music is soft traditional Chinese. I love the iPad menu, it's well designed and easy to use. The cuisine is spicy Szechuan style- many dishes have popcorn, chili, and are heavily seasoned. For a party of two we ordered the spicy chicken, garlic beans, and twice cooked pork. The portions are decent and the all three dishes were good. The service was quick and attentive. The food came out fairly quickly and the servers were super helpful and polite. Will definitely return again!

Mountain House really takes you away with their ambience as if you weren't in the states anymore, but traveled to Asia for this. Everything we ordered was delcious (AND SPICY), be cautious of the spice levels depending on your taste. A few popular items I came here for was unfortunately out so I may need to come back to try. Service can be a bit delayed depending on the business/crowd. It's a popular spot in the area so I get it. Overall, what we ordered was well priced and enjoyable.

This place is becoming 1 of my favorite Sichuan restaurants. Love the ambience the moment walking in. We ordered the prawn, red pepper fish head, beef stripes, hanging pork belly, pork kidney and frog legs. Everything was delicious. What i love about this place was its not that spicy to a degree you could not even be able to taste the food. Service was nice too.

Food: 10/10! Extremely large selection of what I can only imagine is authentic sichuan cuisine! Even delicacies like rabbit are available. We went with more familiar items on our first visit and we were in for a treat! First, the chilled spice cabbage to start was perfectly seasoned and immediately opened my appetite. Mapo tofu was perhaps THE BEST I have ever had. Another favorite was the fried noodles with beef - we ALLLMOST left this out, but everyone agreed this was one of the winners. The white fish was also great, with extremely tender and flavorful pieces. Tofu lovers will all rejoice at the crispy sizzling tofu - but a word of caution - the sizzle is reallll, this one is especially hot, temperature wise. Service: 10/10 No complaints, quick and friendly service. Ambiance: 15/10 The decor absolutely took our breath away. Private dining areas located in the back, beautiful, serene decor greet you when you first open the wooden doors.

Mountain House has great food. There's always a wait. Be sure to arrive early. Dining experience could definitely use some improvement. The tea cups and plates are all chipped. Especially the tea cups. Even employees couldn't find a non chipped cups and gave us paper cups instead. With such good food, upgrading your plates could elevate overall. Also, I was burnt by your shrimp dish. Employee did not tell me that it was hot. Did she do anything about it? No. My recent experience will not stop me from coming just because I do enjoy eating there. Just some improvements to adjust. Also, you can't really go wrong with any of the dish.

Had a fantastic meal at Mountain House in Rowland Heights. The Swing Pork Belly, County Braised Pork, and Grilled Beef Ribs were all packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The Dumplings in Chili Oil were a great starter, and both the Chinese Long Beans with Eggplant and Water Spinach were fresh and delicious. The Incredible Fried Rice with Beef definitely lived up to its name! We finished with the Sweet Drunken Jelly and Honey Pear Chrysanthemum Tea, which were the perfect ending to a great meal. Excellent food, generous portions, and great service. Looking forward to coming back! This place is such a vibe! Prettiest interior design I've ever seen in a Chinese restaurant! Great spot for big groups or small groups.

Tried variety of different things here and everything was really delicious. I really enjoyed the rabbit and the Szechuan noodles. Also love their dumplings here. The atmosphere is really cool and we got great service from our servers Sunny and Serene. It's a nice spot tucked away that offered some very delicious eats.

Upon entering, it felt like we were transported back to ancient china. It feels very intimate here, great for familial settings. We ordered the string beans, steamed crab with sticky rice, and chili oil dumplings. The string beans are delicious but the dumplings can be passed on. It tasted more like a wonton than a dumpling. The steamed crab took about an hour instead of the agreed 30 or so minutes. However this is fine because our server gave us a free dessert for the long wait. We ordered the osmanthus dessert and it was so yummy! Overall, skip the dumplings get the string beans and crab. I would definitely come back!

How would you make a reservation for a group of 8 people? there is no option on the yelp waitlist or google reservation option. I tried calling but the number on google said they're not taking any calls because their voicemail box is not updated.

I called 626-986-5555 and they answered it. I was able to make the reservation on the phone.

    Do they have non-spicy dishes?

    yes they do

Do they have a private room or a section for a party of 20?

I think so, saw private rooms on my way to the bathroom 🤔

Hi can I bring my own wine? Thx

Not really sure... but call them to ask... usually restaurant will ask for cork fee...

    Do they have dim sum?

Yes ,there's corkage fees from 25 to 35dollars.

    Do they serve alcohols/cocktails?

I've just been there and they do have alcohol. They have beer, soju, sake, wine, and cocktails.…

How long is a wait time?

    30 minutes

Do they take reservations at this location?

When we went last month they told me no reservations on weekends, including Friday. Ok other weekdays.

    Can they seat large groups?

I think their largest table fits 8 people. After that you may need to split your groups or sit tighter in that area.

Any vegan options? Is there cross contamination between vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes?

The online menu also allows for less oil, so I decided to go for the healthier option. In general, I like how their menu allows for easily adding and removing toppings from your orders. The house beef noodles even at mild spice can pack a good amount of heat, so I'd give a warning if you have a low tolerance. The zajiang noodles had a great texture, and the flavor was light but still flavorful. I'd definitely order that again but with mild spice next time I make a visit. The restaurant has a nice and clean ambience with space for group and solo seating. Unfortunately, the restaurant was undergoing power issues, so we couldn't use a phone to order. A server took our order and explained that one area of the restaurant was even unlit because of the power issues. The lights briefly went out as well, and the servers were understandably worried about the situation. Thankfully, they quickly turned back on. I've tried quite a few dishes here and honestly everything has been solid. I usually get the house beef noodle but this time I tried the braised pork noodle. The noodles had the perfect bouncy texture, the pork was super tender, and the bok choy added a nice crunch that helped balance the richness of the broth. My friend got the hot and sour chaoshou which was also really good. The dumpling skin was chewy and they were packed with filling. It's also nice that you can customize the oil level in your broth. We ordered the pig ears as an appetizer too. I loved the crunchy texture but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. The initial taste was mostly chili oil and then the flavor kind of disappeared. They have a lot of other great appetizers on the menu so I'd probably skip this one next time. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with consistently good noodles Mian is definitely worth checking out!!

Since Meizhou Dongpo closed, this has become our go-to place for family gatherings, and their private dining rooms are a big reason why. For young children who are still learning self-control, it's an overwhelming temptation and often leads to unnecessary meltdowns right before leaving. In my opinion, complimentary candy should be offered after payment in a tray or handed out by staff, rather than displayed so prominently at the checkout. It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. The staff helped change out dirty plates often. Everything was clean. They were helpful in explaining the AYCE menu. The only problem I experienced is how slow the virtual menu was to load and long buffers between each click. At one point it stopped working to reorder so the waitress had to do it manually anyway. We got the half tomato (light spice) and half spicy soup (mild) base and both were really good! I might upgrade to med next time. The meat quality was great, esp the 1 wagyu plate per person that comes with AYCE. Surprisingly the fatty beef was so tender as well. Even the mala beef didn't hurt going in...or out. The bellflower veggie is a must try. Never had this crunchy vegetable before. Love the self serve bar with so many desserts and Chinese chips options.
