This place has so much potential. I see the vision but it's just not being executed correctly. Starting with the good: I think this is the only shabu place ive been to that has seafood boil, unique combination and im all for it. Its included in the "ayce" (one order), and it was good The meats are decent quality, they have a lot of soup base to choose from as well as appetizers. Now, the bad: i went on a Saturday night which is prime time, they only had one server working which meant slow service. Not the server's fault because she was nice and doing her best but come on, hiring an extra body isnt going to break the bank. She was running all over the place. They advertise this as ayce but its really not. You can only order 3 rounds of meat. This is a classic bait and switch tactic. I really liked the quality of the food here, but everything else about this place felt like a straight-up scam. I honestly felt bad for our server because it seemed like she was just repeating what the owner told her to say that it's "AYCE," but only one order of meat per person per round. So is it actually all-you-can-eat? Why advertise it that way if it clearly isn't? When we first came in, it wasn't even busy, yet the food still took forever. It honestly felt intentional, like they were dragging things out during our so-called "AYCE" experience. I even called ahead to confirm, and was told it was AYCE. Service was rough. We had to keep asking for basic things like garlic, green onions, sauces, and even water refills which didn't happen until almost an hour in. They completely forgot our seafood boil order too. At that point it felt like they were avoiding bringing it out because of how limited everything already was. The whole process lacked efficiency. They should be taking your soup order first so it can heat up while you decide on meats especially since their "AYCE" rules are confusing. By the time you order meat, your soup should already be ready. That wasn't the case at all. I don't fully blame the server since she was the only one on the floor, but management should've stepped in earlier and helped run the food. It felt poorly run and I can understand our servers frustration as somebody who worked in AYCE korean bbq, AYCE sushi, and AYCE shabu shabu.. On our second round, she mentioned the meat orders were restrictive which is when I just started ordering more appetizers instead. That alone defeats the whole point of AYCE. I can understand why sushi restaurants would go with the 3 round limit but you can definitely load up on the first round and by the second round you are usually full by then. When I asked, "So it's not really all-you-can-eat then, right?" her response was: "We have to stay competitive." That makes no dam sense when there are plenty of shabu spots around here offering similar pricing or cheaper with actual unlimited meat and no weird round limits. On the third round, I asked what happens if we're still hungry. She said: "If you want unlimited meat, it's an extra $6 per person." That was never explained upfront. At that point, it felt like a complete bait-and-switch. Advertising AYCE but limiting it to 10 slices per round and only 3 rounds (so basically 30 pieces total) is not AYCE. The food itself is good but the way it's marketed is misleading, and the experience feels like you're being upsold into what should've been included from the start. For context, there are plenty of places nearby where you can pay around the same price and actually get true unlimited meat without all these rules: Moo Moo Hot Pot Boiling Point All That Shabu Shabuya Broth Shabu-Shabu Jazz Cat Restaurant HaiDiLao Hot Pot O Shabu Shabu Top One Pot Happy AYCE Hot Pot But most competitors are: -$30-35 (true AYCE) -$35-45 (premium AYCE) -OR cheaper lunch options ~$25-28 They DON'T: -limit meat per round -cap you at 3 rounds -hide "real unlimited" behind an upcharge Some of these are the same price, some are slightly more but at least they're upfront and actually unlimited without confusing rules or hidden upgrades. 3.5 stars. Did the premium ayce. You can only order 2 meat dishes a person each round, 1/2 of the seafood boil, but appetizers are unlimited. So basically They only let you get the premium meat zabu and wagyu ribeye. Zabu was probably the best meat. Since we had a party of 4 the portions were a little better. Especially the seafood boil. We basically got 2 lbs of shrimp. I basically ate 1 lb or head on shrimp to myself and ate the shabu. Considering this is a shabu spot and not the usual seafood boil, the sauce was pretty good. I also liked their tempura shrimp. It was panko batter and really crispy. The greentea and pannacotta was good together. Would recommend the AYCE menu instead, a lot more worth then ordering by the item. The meat here is actually really delicious and the portions are big. The vegetables come pre packaged and served to you all at once at first and just like most of the other items you can order more if needed. The variety of side/apps are pretty wide from the regular hotpot sides, fries, to seafood boil. Never seen that before. Yesterday 3/2/2026 Want some good quality of meat, and Shabu Haru popped out from yelp. I always have it bookmarked just didn't have the chance to try it. Yesterday I did and love it, especially prime chuck eye. The waitress Laila, sorry if I spell wrong, she was so nice accommodating us every request, when my boyfriend wants the soup spicy. Came back to give this place another try after 9 years and a previously horrible review. Must say, I really enjoyed it. It's recently under new management and has updated to a more affordable menu. We came on a Wednesday at 7pm for 5 people and were seated immediately. The portions and prices were very affordable and you're able to get additional meat at a discounted price after getting your first order. I got a Beef Toro at around $25 for soup base and meat and veggies, and got an extra portion of meat for $9. Sauce (goma and ponzu) are unlimited refills. The rice, ramen, and udon don't come with the meal and are at $1 a piece, but not the end of the world. The staff were super attentive and friendly, and I hear they're bringing back all you can eat, so definitely will be back. read more

Good selection of meats (all were pretty tender, favorite was steak cut), lots of sides/ appetizer choices (fried oysters were good), and fresh unlimited vegetables. Just wish they had Napa cabbage. Came here for lunch on a weekend and it wasn't busy at all. My friend and I initially came here to order a la carte but saw that they had an AYCE option so we went with that after comparing the prices and realized AYCE was only about $2 more. I got the tomato soup and it was a bit tangy/sour and had ketchup flavor which I didn't mind. The beef toro was really good and that was the only meat we ordered as that was the only beef option in their regular AYCE menu. The sauces they had were sesame and ponzu which is nice because those are the only 2 sauces I normally like dipping with. They start you off with a bowl of veggies with some noodles in it and it was so big that we didn't order seconds. This review is for the "Brand New Shabu Haru." We have been here multiple times before the change and after. We came in as a party of 3 adults and 4 children under age 6. Before ordering, staff clearly told us this was not an AYCE restaurant, which we understood and were completely fine with. The issue arose when we tried to order. The menu states that you can order extra meat for $9, which was exactly our plan so our kids could share. We have been here numerous times before, and this has never been an issue. This time, however, we were told that each person in our party had to order their own hot pot and that we could not share with our kids. This effectively required purchasing full hot pot meals (priced $25 and up) for every person, in addition to any extra meat. Mind you, there was nothing on the menu that states the food is not shareable. This policy makes no sense for an à la carte restaurant. When customers are paying per item and are even allowed to purchase additional meat, requiring a full hot pot order for every person -- especially young children -- feels unreasonable and contradictory. If that is the case, it removes the incentive to choose à la carte dining over an AYCE option. After asking questions and seeking clarification, we eventually said fine and agreed to proceed and order. However, the waitress then returned and told us she had not even put our order in because she did not know what we wanted to do, which added to the frustration and made the experience feel disorganized and dismissive. The manager then came over and reiterated that we could not share at all with our children. Our children could have eaten other items on the menu that were not hot pot, yet we were still told that everyone in the party had to order a full hot pot and that no sharing was allowed at all. This further highlighted how inflexible and poorly thought out the policy was. If this is a house policy, it needs to be clearly stated on the menu and explained before seating, not after guests are ready to order. Unfortunately, due to all of the above, we ended up leaving and dining at the restaurant next door instead. read more

The waitress is super nice and upbeat, I didn't catch her name but she was super nice and checked up on us. I heard through some outside sources that they're gonna serve AYCE all you can eat soon!!! We pass by this restaurant all the time when we go to Daiso but never got to try! So glad we were craving hot pot cause right at their door they had Army Stew which is a very comforting meal for us. We got seated right away and they gave us complimentary avocado fries! Absolutely delicious. The army stew was a huge portion that could feed at least 4 people. I love that they bring it out in a huge pot and beautifully arranged. They also mix it for you which I thought was really nice. Summary: 2 stars for AYCE shabu and slow, inattentive service *** My bf and I heard about the all you can eat shabu on weekdays, so we came for dinner on a Wednesday after 7pm. AYCE was priced at $37.99 per person and limited to 3 rounds of food orders. We paid ~$50 per person after tax and gratuity. Although I liked the layout of the restaurant, we were seated along a dim wall. The Kpop playing overhead was not too loud, but it was not the vibe for me. I kept laughing as people sang about how "salty and sweet" they are. SERVICE Although our server was nice, the overall speed of service was incredibly slow for the low volume of diners. One woman, who may have been the owner, seemed determined to not help our server manage the entire room. We waited 15-20 mins for service each time we needed something, from the start to finish of our dining experience. We twiddled our thumbs for a bit upon being seated. Finally, I swiped a menu from a neighboring table. We asked for water and put in our 1st order at the same time. When we asked for an AYCE order of vegetables, our server did not mention that we would already be receiving some. Luckily, we caught that ourselves and got the AYCE veggies canceled. It had a hint of freezer flavor. - Pork shoulder. Surprisingly, the thin slices of pork were softer and more flavorful than the beef. I wish I had gotten more of this meat instead. - Rice was white rice mixed with the barest smattering of purple rice to extract its color. The texture was slightly overcooked, but still chewy. - Vegetables. Each person received a massive bowl of vegetable, tofu, fish cake, and noodle by default. Sometimes, you just want hot pot on a hot day. This was our choice for that said hot day. This was my first time at Shabu Haru. We did come on a Saturday at 4PM, so the restaurant was empty. It makes sense since the temperature was 90 degrees that day. We were seated as soon as possible and helped immediately. We were offered the AYCE option and the al carte. There is a variety of soup bases for an additional price if you don't want that basic free broth. At first, I was scared that I wouldn't be full but that veggies bowl that came with the meat was huuuuge. Everything tasted so good and clean. The servers were attentive and checked up on us often. They made sure our broth wasn't running low to burn the pot or that our water was empty. Not sure if they overheard us talking about K-pop but that started playing as soon as we sat down. No complaints there, it was a vibe. My friend, who showed me this place, says that this she never really saw people when she dined here. She was hoping that she just came at an off time. We ordered off the premium menu which gives us the option to get raw oysters and waygu sushi and of course we had to get them both and they were delicious! This is where mokkoji use to be. The place is small but has a good amount of seating. Came on a Tuesday night and was seated right away. My friend and I both ordered the waygu beef with pork bone tonkatsu broth. I ordered the reg size and my friend ordered the large. The broth was really good and flavorful. The portion of the meat was perfect for me. It comes with a mix of veggies. My fave part is it's ayce veggies. You can order more of the veggies that you like. It's very similar to mokkoji. I took the leftover broth home to eat the next day for lunch!! I love this place and will definitely come back again. Sadly they don't give you anything for a birthday. This is probably the third owner since we been living in Rowland Heights. This owner add some Korean items and we love it. We get to get an army stew and our regular hot shabu. FOOD POISONING!!! So a group of us came last weekend for lunch, we all decided to do the premium AYCE. 2 of us decided to order the fire crab soup base. Long story short, I didn't eat the crab but my friend did. Next morning, I had to fast before I see my doctor, so I had no other food but the crab shabu from Shabu Haru. While in the waiting room I started feeling a bad headache and cold, like I'm getting a fever, that's when my friend who actually ate the crab messaged me saying he had really bad diarrhea all night. I talked to everyone else in our group who didn't order the crab and no one else got sick, so it was only the two of us who ordered the fire crab soup base. As soon as I got home, my symptoms started getting worse and I started throwing up, everything from that Shabu Haru was coming out. I continue to throw up multiple times until early in the am before the headache finally started coming down. Then I found out my friend who ate the crab was throwing up as well. He ended up missing work the following day and had to go see urgent care. Restaurants MUST take extra care while handling seafood, just because your business is slow doesn't mean you can take shortcuts like this. We will report this to LA County Public Health! read more
