I'm originally from Buffalo and one of the greatest things about that city is the food. In fact, we often joke that the thing that keeps people in Buffalo is the food and the sports. Buffalo pizza is a unique thing and accompanied by wings, some blue cheese and celery it elevates it to an equivalent of the British Sunday roast. It's something I would have with my family after a Bills or Sabres game on a Sunday and the thing is, there's hundreds of good pizza parlors in Buffalo because they all know how to make good pizza and good wings. Being a Buffalo ex-pat, Buffalo pizza is one of the things I miss most about Buffalo and I would do a lot of things to have some good, authentic, Buffalo style pizza. So when I came to Alexandria on business, on a whim I just did a Yelp search for Buffalo pizza to see if there was anything in the greater area and I found Baddpizza. Talking with the gentleman who cooked my pizza and wings, I learned that the owner came from years of working at a famous parlor in Buffalo called Bocce club. The smell and even the style of this restaurant was very pizza parlor to me. It brought back memories of walking up to a window or to an inside counter, ordering and heading back home to spend time with good food, good company and hopefully a good result for the Bills or Sabres! I was pleased to see Buffalo was represented well, with a big "716" decal, a standing buffalo with the city skyline on it and even, a sharp eye would spot a box of Josh's Jaqs cereal, a long running tradition in Buffalo to have a hometown athlete on a box of cereal. I mean truly, the only thing that would have elevated the space was a TV playing highlights of Rick Jeanneret calls or maybe a box of Flutie Flakes to go alongside of JA17's cereal. The food came out piping hot. There were plenty of peppers to take with you to add if you like that but the pizza came out exactly as I'd remember Buffalo pizza. The cheese is incredible, the pepperoni char absolutely spectacular, the sauce a slightly sweet tomato sauce that just reminded me of home. Seeing a lot of the reviews on here I felt a lot of them were harsh. Certainly, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but for Buffalonians, pizza and wings is a staple and they hit the nail on the head with an authentic experience 388 miles from home in Alexandria. I don't expect everyone to have the same reverence to Buffalo style pizza as I do, or we do, but to say it was flavorless is ridiculous. While I'm sure some of their specialty pizza's could leave more to be desired, if you stick with the classics, especially with charred pepperoni which is my absolute favorite topping, you will not have a bad time there. One tip on Yelp that I didn't listen to, but should have was that the sauce on the wings is not as spicy as you might think. I ordered medium which tends to be my go to and I felt it was more of a mild. If you like it a bit hotter, I'd say get them a stage hotter than you normally would. In fact if you get a double order of wings, you can pick two flavors, so go with your normal and then go at least a stage up. Also, important to note that as far as pizza parlor wings go, when you take them home they will not be as good and crispy. If you're expecting fresh crisp wings and have a drive or bus ride to go eat them, you will have to understand that wings won't keep. There's also not a lot of room to eat. And to be fair, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to eat there, but the gentleman cooking the pizza said it was no problem. But at least at this location, this might be a bring home, picnic or come with one or two because the restaurant doesn't seat many. I will also say that I took public transportation all the way from Old Town Alexandria to the restaurant and it was easy. It took a little more time than if I had a car, but it is doable to come via train and bus. And here's the thing, whether it's Chicago, New York, Detroit or Buffalo, clearly not every style is going to be your favorite. But I think if you want to experience something maybe new to you, or for those Buffalonians calling DC and the suburbs home or people like me on business and just missing a taste of home, you should go to one of Baddpizza's locations and get a taste of home. And to top this off, head next door to Wegmans to complete your Buffalo experience. Grab a couple other Buffalo staples like Weber's Mustard, Salens hot dogs, Bison chip dip (the best French onion dip you can get) and so much more. People will laugh at me for going here instead of heading to the Smithsonian or any one of the famous landmarks or museums DC has to offer. But when you have a chance to taste home and remind yourself of some of the great times you have with great people, or if you're new to Buffalo style pizza and want to create new memories with the people and sports teams you love, then give Badpizza a try. More of a 4 or 4.5 but thats not an option. Unique pies! A TON of cheese, but its actually mozzarella and not some "cheese product." The pepperoni are among the best ive had. Perfectly thick and crispy! The crust is kinda like a thin pan crust. Chewy and thick, almost like a flattened Detroit style crust. Sauce is thick too, pretty plain. Wings are fried crispy so they dont become flaccid when doused in the sauce. Exactly the way I like them! read more

I work in the shopping center so I was really excited to see some new lunch options starting to pop up. I attempted to try baddpizza in the past on Halloween but due to it being "Halloween" they told me they were only taking orders for whole pies. I decided to forgive them today and walk over to try them for the first time. I genuinely enjoyed my personal pizza. First: It was a large portion for one person. Second: I enjoyed the dough and crispy edges. Third: It was fairly priced for the portion I chose. I ordered light sauce and the amount was perfect. I used to walk over to Wegmans to get a slice but now if I'm craving pizza for lunch, I would definitely go back to baddpizza. Decided to try it "Hill Top" I don't eat grain "allergy" so no bread I attempted to order a cheese steak like I do often and requested no bread and asked it to be served on a lettuce bed "not lettuce wrapped". I was met with we can't do that. I asked how do you make your salads and could you simply put a piece of lettuce on the bottom of the container for the steak/cheese to sit on and was advised that it's reserved for the salads. I asked to order a salad and dump it all out except for some lettuce and then order a cheese steak to be placed on top again I was met with a no and a unfriendly attitude. I expect this will fall on deaf ears and or not be addressed but to those who read it steer clear we don't need business like this treating our community this way. read more

1. Kudos for the name. It's nice to see truth in advertising. 2. They sell pizza that is somehow simultaneously flavorless and oddly flavored. 3. The crust is an utter disaster. The sauce is applied heavily, but contributes nothing. The several pounds of cheese on the pizza tasted mildly of a refrigerator. And one would think that charred, cupping pepperoni ought to make anything delicious, but it, too was nearly flavorless. 4. Trying to comprehend what I just tried to eat, I did a search on this chain. They represent an unknown regional style that really ought to have remained in its backwater. 5. My mini wanted to try this spot, I thought it was a sit-in restaurant but this is more so a carry-out establishment. The pizza is huge and definitely is reminiscent of pizza in Buffalo NY. They have your typical carry-out options such as wings, fries and subs in addition to the pizza. Definitely a comfort food establishment with delicious options. Our pizza was cooked to perfection in about 15mins. Service was quick and pleasant. I love that the staff immediately addressed you as you walk in no matter what they are doing. Alright, I really tried to like this pizza, but its not good!! The crust reminds me of a crumpet (If you don't know what a crumpet is, look it up). The crust is toooo heavy and moist and should never be used for pizza crust. The toppings, especially the cheese and sauce are inferior. This pizza reminds me of some early morning I just left a D.C. Nite Club in Adam's Morgan Giant slice of pizza from back in the day, but in the worse way.... So basically the only way you will eat this is, if you are starving and don't know no better and ain't never experienced better. Oh, and the wings suck too. Save your money!! read more

Baddpizza is excellent in general, but I've learned some things after many orders: -The wings are great but not as spicy as you'd expect. If you usually order medium, get hot at Baddpizza -The whole pizzas are enormous, sometimes seem undercooked, and the slices are so big that they are unwieldy. This is not foldable NY style pizza, so a big slice is not ideal. -The half pizzas do not have the undercooked issue, but the slices are still too big. -The personal pizza is perfect, and a great value. The slices are the perfect size, it is not undercooked, and it feeds way more than one person. For my family of four, we order either two personal pizzas, or one personal pizza and ten wings. That is plenty. -the triple char is the way to go if you like pepperoni. -the buffalo chicken pizza is quite good read more

A friend from Buffalo told us about the amazing food back home. We've had BaddPizza twice for good reason- their food is really tasty! Meatball sub has a balanced mix of tasty meatballs, cheese, sauce, and roll. Pizza crust is delicious with a slightly sweet sauce, tasty pepperoni and sausage! The wings were very tasty but next time I'll try them fried without the extra grilled effect. The app works well and both pick up and delivery were on time- service is good! read more

I am so sorry, but this is the worst pizza and wings I have ever had. My son and I were asking "How did this place get to be a chain?" The pizza was tomato and cheese goop on an uncooked dough ball with cardboard pepperoni on top. The wings were terrible, too. Dried out and tough. As always, I try to give a place the benefit of the doubt, but I couldn't believe how bad the food was. Oh, and $46 for a regular pepperoni pizza and 10 wings was pretty ridiculous, too. This was ok pizza when we tried it shortly after it opened. The service was a bit slow and there wasn't anywhere to sit while you waited.

Everything you need to know about this place is in its name - it's so very bad and not in a good way. If it was just the food that was terrible, I would have just taken the loss and gone about my business, never to come back. Alas, I also got food poisoning from here! Not sure what the first reviewers issue was but I tried this new to me place tonight and it was delicious. Ordered a special which was a half pizza with with 10 pit honey mustard wings and a large cheesesteak sub for my son. The wings were some of the tastiest I have had in the DMV. Our pizza had mushrooms and black olives. Loved the cispy, airy crust, the sauce was on the sweet side but really good and the veggies were fresh. The cheesesteak, which is really a beefsteak with cheese sub as we all know there are no real "cheesesteaks" in this entire region, was packed with meat and melted cheese and my son really enjoyed it. The bread was crispy and chewy which is an important component of a cheesesteak. My receipt said Selena prepared the food so thank you, Selena great job. Our food was prepared correctly and still piping hot upon pick up. The gentleman at the counter was very pleasant and helpful, even gave me some extra dressing for the wings without attitude or issue. I like their pizza size choices a lot since I only wanted half a pie. They offer a huge 18", a half, a party size for several people or a family to enjoy, and even have medium and personal sizes. All customizable with plenty of cheese and sauce. Only dings I would state are that the website ordering tab said you get a free order of garlic sticks for Monday but when I was ready to check out it said they were all sold out of breadsticks. I also wanted it delivered but again, the website said delivery was a no-go so I had to pick up. No worries, it was a beautiful night out and close to the house and I had plenty of tasty crust and didn't miss the garlic bread. The prices were fair for the quality of food. I guess when the food is great, it makes it a little better in this horrible inflation. We will definitely be back soon. read more
