I recently saw Jersey Mike's had opened in Kingstowne and I tried it our today. I was warmly greeted upon entering the store by an energetic young man who immediately directed me to the ordering section to take my order. I was impressed with his service ethic as he gingerly proceeded to take my order. I was a bit out of sorts as he tossed around the meats and cheeses from the deli counter to and from the slicer while making the sandwiches. This was a bit unexpected as was the bread sitting out on the counter being used to make the sandwiches. I would think the bread would be in a drawer or under glass instead of just sitting out on the counter although it was behind the glass line. Optics are everything in food service. I came here this afternoon with a couple of buddies, and we were all super hungry. Everyone ordered something different, and we each paid for our own. I hadn't eaten all day so I ordered big. I got the large New York Steamer that had pastrami, corned beef, provalone cheese, mayonnaise, and Russian dressing. It was delicious but it had a little bit too much mayonnaise for my liking. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering a variety of cold and hot subs, wraps, kids options, and desserts. I ordered the #17 Jersey Mike's Famous Philly - the bread itself was hard and stale, and it wasn't the usual generous amount of meat that is served as other locations. The meat itself was overcooked and dried out, even for my taste! The cheese wasn't melted all the way through, and it just seemed like a sandwich with 'warm meat' with cheese placed on top. We had to wait an additional 10 minutes, as our order came out incorrect. The employee who was writing orders down seemed distracted, so I wasn't really surprised that our sandwiches came out wrong T____T The place itself always seems to block off the other half of the dining area, and the tables and chairs are never wiped down. It has been a while since I have visited Jersey Mikes at Brookfield Plaza. As always, their subs are delicious. Unfortunately during this visit, I found the "atmosphere" to be a bit overwhelming. The "music" was so load it was difficult to understand the staff members when ordering. It was even quite uncomfortable trying to enjoy your meal with the music being so loud. During my visit, I used the restroom to wash my hands and was deeply disturbed to see the condition of the men's room. The chain is good and has been good. This location goes above and beyond to uphold gluten free standards. They truly decontaminate allll surfaces before making a gluten free sandwich and they don't even make it on the same counters (even though sanitized) they have a separate section. We went today around 5:00 to grab a sub and the people behind the counter were not very friendly and boy, was the sandwich prep counter dirty! Wow wow wow. I will never ever go back to subway again. This pave is just like the heroes(subs) were back in Brooklyn. I hope more locations will open up around the us so that jersey mike's takes over. The front counter staff were all curtious. They suggested the number 13 I forgot the name. But it wad an all cold sub. Everything was fresh and the oil vinegar and oregano made it every more fresh. That's what they call the jersey mike's way. The store is run like a well-oiled machine, there are a dozen workers here at any given time I've been in, and i'm in and out in minutes. RB is the most tender I've ever had on a sandwich. I can't recall a time I've ever had to wait in line more than a person or two and there's plenty of parking. Sliced to order meats and cheeses. This is what a sub should be - and waaaaay better than that "other sub chain". One of my favorite things about Jersey Mike's is their "sub in a tub" concept. When I'm trying to be a bit more healthy and watch the carbs, I can have everything I'd usually have in a sandwich but made into a salad instead.
