Lots to like about this place. The decor gives coffeeshop vibes (e.g. the pictures and bookshelves). The item I ordered was the beef bulgogi kimbap burrito, which they got the flavor down pat. The burrito wrapping was actually seaweed which was a cool little twist (but that's how kimbap is prepared, with other rice and vegetables rolled in it). Portion size was a tad small but the quality made up for it. The cold brew iced coffee was alright, just a little on the lighter side and would have preferred darker and morw bold. As for service, they don't hand you a menu, but direct you to scan the QR code (you can order through there as well, which I did, but you can give to the staff too). If you like Korean food / smoothies / Boba tea etc this little gem is worth a visit. read more

FOOD Bae's Bahn Mi Sandwich with Roasted BBQ Pork and Spicy Mayo - the bbq pork is cooked well and seasoned nicely. The pickled vegetables are pretty on point and it's pretty representative of Vietnamese sandwiches. I like the twist with the spicy Mayo which adds flavor to the sandwich. Bread is on the softer/chewier side. VIBES It's a pretty small place with a handful of tables for sitting. I think the decorations are really cute with the glass lighting as well as the books and lanterns that are hanging. SERVICE It's probably 30 minutes for the sandwich to come out, so the service is on the slow side, but they apologized for the wait. Overall, Staff is pretty friendly and to order using a QR code from your phone. read more

I really really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I only have sad things to say about their boba drinks. Their taro milk tea was clearly made from artificial mixes; taro flavors were not authentic at all. Their boba was not only undercooked so it was hard in the middle, but also flavorless (no sweetness or even the tapioca taste). My sip of my friend's classic milk tea gave me a similar experience. Watered down milk tea that neither had milk nor tea flavors unfortunately :( I do appreciate how they have alternative milk options but other than that, it was just not a good experience. Gave it an extra star because they have a cute decor and Asian snacks, plus the servers were nice and I wanted to support API restaurants. No better feeling than sitting in a great cafe in the middle of the city. I think Bae Bae's cafe is one of the hidden gems of downtown Pittsburgh. I haven't been in a while so I had to drop in to get a taste of nostalgia. I'm a sucker for a good breakfast sandwich, and you get just that (and more) when you visit the cafe. Bae Bae's kitchen sister store offers delectable sandwiches, teas, and of course smoothies. Staff is all around pleasant to talk to which matches the laid back vibes here. Super cute! We went on a Saturday morning around Noon. It was around the corner from our hotel. The iced coffee with strawberry milk and the peanut butter banana smoothie with almond milk were so good! It did take about 15 minutes to get our breakfast sandwiches. It was fairly busy, maybe 10 people inside and 2 working. Other than the wait, the sandwiches we got were really good! Bacon egg and cheese on a baguette and chicken egg and cheese on a croissant. Adorable little shop. Seriously, I'd come in just to stare at the decor. They have these whimsical umbrella ceiling displays that are so charming. They also have a wall with shelves of Asian snacks including chips, ramen, and candy. I didn't try their actual beverages so I can't really attest to that but their veggie banh mi sandwich kinda sucked tbh so that's why I knocked off a point. It was not authentic at all, doesn't even look anything like a banh mi. I'll still come back to grab a coffee next time though. read more

It was close to our hotel so was our go to spot while we were in town for a volleyball tournament. Food is made to order so it's fresh, not warming under a light before you get it. Following the standard set by Bae Bae's restaurant, this cafe is adorably decorated and offers a great dining experience. The drinks are unique and it's amazing to have a boba spot downtown! Menu is pretty expensive, but comparable to the other specialty coffee and boba shops. Online ordering is very easy. I do wish that they were open earlier in the day. The new cafe is FANTASTIC! I am so in love with the decor. There really isn't anything like it downtown, at all. It's got a real eclectic vibe with lots of color and artsy furniture. Of course I love the bubble tea, all of it. If I were forced to pick a favorite, I honestly couldn't because I love it all that much. Ok, I'll pick one...passion fruit. We were incredibly excited to hear that the long awaited Bae Baes Cafe is finally open! We promptly rushed over in the freezing cold a little before lunch go beat the potential crowd that would be showing up. Upon arrival, it's hard not to spend more than a few minutes looking around at the unique interior that pulls themes from Alice and Wonderland. The setup is very interesting - there's a single tablet that you place your order your order on with all the customizations available, pay, and then wait for your food/drinks. Great for the especially introverted like me! I opted for a chicken bahn mi and a Thai iced tea with boba, ordered to go. After 5-10 minutes, our food was handed to us and we were on our way. The Thai ice tea was amazing, $4 for a large cup of Thai iced tea in downtown?! Yes please! The boba were perfect as well and a tiny bit smaller in size than most other boba shops, but they definitely loaded up the drinks with boba! The Chicken Bahn Mi was great as well! The sauces inside were delicious, plentiful pickled veggies, and very fresh ingredients! Would love if the bread was slightly crispier on the outside but overall incredibly delicious. So great having a bahn mi place downtown! Suggestions: - Would love to see an online version of the Cafe menu available along with any daily specials (I'm sure this is in the works) - When ordering to-go Bahn Mi's, it would be nice if the entire sandwich was wrapped up in the foil rather than leaving one end open. We had to carry our sandwiches upright and that end was noticeably colder than the rest of the sandwich that was wrapped up! - Maybe some more general descriptions of some items would make ordering a little easier. Bae Bae's has to be one of the best hidden gems in downtown Pittsburgh! I got the Korean ribeye scallion pancake and my boyfriend got the tofu one. We both loved our wraps, they were so flavorful and delicious! They are a bit small so if you are looking to have them for a meal, you may want to order 2. We also got the taro milk tea and the sparkling strawberry lemonade. I liked the milk tea a lot and the boba was decent. The lemonade had the perfect level of sweetness and tart taste to it! I was really excited to try out Bae Bae's new cafe and they did not disappoint! I got a Thai iced tea with boba (my favorite). And it was delicious. I also got the German sandwich and it was sooooo good. I can't wait to go back and try a couple of other sandwiches. The price point was pretty good too! A bit cheaper than lunch at the regular Bae Bae's, although you get a lot more food there. I think the only thing I would suggest, to make this more of a lunch spot would be to add some sides. And then maybe make a "meal" option of the sandwich, side, and drink. Would just be convenient! Overall, a great experience and rhe inside is decorated so cute! read more

Bae Bae Kitchen's long awaited sister space finally opened this weekend! Love the variety of tea/coffee and grab and go food (they had sandwiches and soups and salads). You check out at the counter using an iPad, and the food comes out promptly! Food was good. My husband and I enjoyed our meals. I was sad when KFC wings was unavailable, but I decided to give the KFC chicken breast a try. It was really crispy and went well with the sauce. I wish they provided with a little more sauce. They had side dishes which you can add extra if you want. They were all good, but the portion size is very small. Fast and friendly service. We had the lemongrass banh mi and bacon egg, cheese bagel that were both very tasty! The bread used for the banh mi was soft and went perfect with the chicken and radish. What an absolutely adorable spot, just a few doors away from the original Bae Bae's Kitchen on Liberty. I wasn't sure how different this concept could possibly be to justify a second location so nearby, but it has a completely different menu and vibe. Easy lunch options you order yourself at a kiosk, like soups, sandwiches and salads. This is also a great spot to get your specialty drinks including iced coffees and teas with boba or a smoothie. I felt at home as soon as I walked in and was greeted by the incredibly friendly server, who was so upbeat and happy she made my day better. The cheerful decor and furnishings made me feel like I was in my own living room, except a much cooler version of it. There was a fun, happy soundtrack playing that made me regret getting my food to go; I wanted to stay and keep the happy lunchtime vibe going instead of taking my food back to my desk. I did stay for a bit and drink my Thai iced tea with boba ($5, I think the boba added .50) while waiting for my salad. The server ran out while I was waiting and asked me if I had forgotten to add a protein to my salad. I said I hadn't noticed tofu as an option so passed. She said she was happy to add some tofu. I said I hadn't paid for a protein and she waved me off. Who does that? Homiest, friendliest place, delicious food and drinks, and my salad ($9) was huge, in keeping with the portions at the original Bae's. Cute place! Bae Bae's kitchen gives you sooo much food, I can see why they made a small place. Ordering is easy, you do it digitally on their iPad and pay on there, too. They have an array of Thai drinks like coffee and teas, also sandwiches and salads. I ordered the guava boba tea and the chicken bahn mi. GREAT choices! The bahn mi was $9.00 and worth it and the boba was $4.50, I believe. Nice employees, as well! The decor is what sticks out the most. Very colorful and eclectic. As a Bae Bae's Kitchen devotee, I've been awaiting the opening of this cafe since it was announced. Now that it's open, I was thrilled to be able to try it. I loved it the minute I stepped in. It's such an adorable space. They have an interesting computerized ordering system. It was a convenient way to order, but at the same time I was glad no one was waiting behind me because I took a while searching through all the different menu options. I wound up getting a taro milk tea, some cookies, and turkey soup. Everything was delicious. I'll definitely be back soon to try a sandwich and whatever other delicious treats they're offering that day. You can't go wrong with Bae Bae's, the Cafe or the Kitchen! read more
