This is a longer review, so if you're short on time: If you are experienced with escape-rooms, just skip going here in favor of others, or at least, skip the Nuclear Meltdown room. If you're new to escape rooms, this might be alright, especially with a GroupOn. We got a GroupOn, so the saving grace here is that it was cheap. Like, $11/person cheap. Our group of 5 did the Nuclear Meltdown room, all of us having done 15+ escape rooms before. The staff was pretty disorganized and absent when we were asking for hints over the radio, despite having 2+ people up front. I can understand a delay in response, but having minutes of delays where your call for a hint goes unanswered is pretty frustrating. The atmosphere and ambiance of the room was on the weak side, and the locks and fixtures in the room are just straight up worn out. Consumables such as papers (including scratch paper where you are supposed to be able to write) were wrinkled and half-destroyed, with dry-erase residue and old writing that often revealed clues or just made it hard to work around. There is a part of the room that uses a decoder tool and pieces of it were just broken off. Coupled with very nonsensical clues in the room (I can't really describe how dumb it was without ruining the puzzle), it was pretty.....meh. If they made sure their staff was on point and put in some effort in fixing up the rooms, I think it would give off a better experience for everyone. read more

We chose The Trap because of its claim on the website to be "The largest escape room in the western USA." IT IS NOT. I've played MUCH larger escape rooms back home in California. I was on a weekend trip to AZ where I played 14 escape rooms in 3 days, and we scheduled our day around playing this game specifically because of its claim. ***One of the owners contacted me to let me know they have updated the website and removed that claim. Aside from the fact that it is not the largest room, it is poorly designed and decorated. There are actually a couple of really clever and creative puzzles, but also a lot of searching and one thing I personally thought was simply thrown in to make an already tedious puzzle more difficult and a bit confusing. Probably the worst sin this room commits is using bright pieces of tape in the decor to denote props you are not supposed to touch. It felt incomplete and unfinished. There was a valid attempt at immersion through the use of the story and hint system, but it was not effective. The young co-owner was kind enough to give us a glimpse at his other rooms which both looked much more professional and well decorated. I actually wish we had not been duped into playing The Trap by the "largest room" lie because we might have booked the much more interesting looking DiVinci Room and our experience may have been completely different. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND supporting local small businesses and I wish these guys the best of luck. They seem like nice people. I hope the other two rooms are wonderful and some improvements can be made on The Trap. *I have played over 100 escape rooms nationwide. read more

I have done 10 escape rooms in the valley. Did the Nuclear Meltdown room. The puzzles were ok, but the room itself needed alot of work. There is no ambiance to the room. It's basically a plain room with a tile floor. Basically think of an old grammar school room. There is alot of decor that does not make any sense in the room. It's filled with dictionaries and old computers. It really just felt like it was thrown together without much thought. They need to spend more time on the decorations to improve the look and feel of this room. Also, they need to improve the pre-story leading up to the room. This is how the room is explained on the website. "For the past 70 years, the greatest threat to the planet and our very own existence has been and will always be the possibility of a nuclear explosion. This threat used to be solely based on a nuclear war, but over time with the advent of computers and the internet and most recently the onslaught of computer hackers ANYBODY can be in control of such a device. You are the best and brightest the FBI has to offer and you have been called upon to unravel and decode a series of clues and puzzles that have been found in the possession of a brilliant computer hacker. The criminal has stolen and has in his possession the launch codes to an arsenal of nuclear warheads that are all aimed at the superpowers of the world. The hacker has keyed in the launch codes and unless the secret code he has generated is found and entered into the mainframe the world will be a far different place in 60 minutes. Do you and a group of your peers have what it takes to stop the FINAL COUNTDOWN?" But when we got there, it was basically, he's the room, GO. We brought a group of 4 friends to play this game for the first time, and we were looking forward to having a fun experience with each other, as this was our Chtistmas present to each other. It turned our to be an awful experience because we were placed in the room with a family of 4 with 2 teen girls. They had done this before, and so they ran around grabbing everything and as soon as the first box was unlocked, they proceeded to grab and monopolize the materials between the 4 of themselves, effectively locking us out of participation. Each box of materials allowed them to advance and we could NOT catch up or participate. They were unbelievably inconsiderate, but then, there was NOTHING in the structure of the game requiring THEM to collaborate! I feel incredibly ripped off by this experience. If a group of friends books this room to have this experience together, they absolutely should allow them to solve the puzzle as a single unit, instead of making them compete with another group or family who may have ZERO interest in collaborating! If you go as a group, don't allow them to place you with another group, unless YOU greatly outnumber THEM (at least 6 to 2). Otherwise, it's a waste of time and money. read more

This place was so fun! It was logically set up and the clues were not easy but not impossible. My group was approx 30 seconds from getting out of our room. Had an awesome time here with my family. We did "The Trap" game. We made it to the last puzzle when time ran out! Some of the props are a little cheesy, but the puzzles are great and it was an awesome time. If you are worried about people getting scared, don't. While there are a few Erie instances in the game, nothing is going on to make pace makers stop or small children cry. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get out of the house for a bit, and especially to offices or other small groups wanting a good team building exercise!!! Standing alone, the room (the trap) was rather cheesy and thrown together, the exposed wires and concrete floor + the blue tape on anything not "meant to be touched" were kinda tacky. The game was fun for what it was; but because the atmosphere was not very inclusive of the game, it wasn't really an immersive experience. Comparatively, there are way better escape rooms in the valley (east & west) & I think these guys should spend some more time developing the room we visited [4 of us, only played "the trap"] The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because around the last 10-15 mins one of the employees lit a cigarette (presumably outside) very near to the building if not directly in the rear or front of it and the entire 2 rooms reeked of smoke. In fact, it was so strong that I felt the need to mention it to the guy as my head had begun to hurt from the fumes. Maybe don't allow smoking so close to the premises, I could tell the walls were thin... Lost some points for lack of professionalism. Our game also started late (about 10-11 mins) read more

So having done an escape room in DC, I'm comparing apples to apples and this one had some rotten spots. The biggest issue was that some of the " clues" in the Nuclear Meltdown room had flat off worn off and were not legible. We finally asked for hints on two and were told over the speaker that "oh, they must have rubbed off, they should be ...". So basically if we had not asked for the clue, we could not have solved that no matter how good or hard we tried. I also felt that the puzzles were not that complex overall, and again, comparing it to DC, they were very lacking in some ingenuity...think ricocheting light beams off a mirror to open trap walls in DC, vs hidden stuff not difficult to find. So step up your game Peoria, and do some updating. Overall it was still fun, so that is why it gets three stars. Oh we did escape with over 4 minutes to spare, but again, with the worn off clues, we could not have if we didn't ask for hints and get told that they were wrong/ had worn off/illegible. read more

Our group of 6 had a great time in the Nuclear Meltdown room! The room had multiple puzzles to solve at a time, so we were able to split up the work instead of crowding over one area. The room still had a direction, however, so it was fairly easy to stay on track. The staff was present over intercom throughout the experience and provided advice when necessary. This was an engaging team-building experience that I would highly recommend. read more

First escape room for the kids (8 years old), and luckily, we were in there by ourselves (it really wouldn't have been fair for another group to be paired up with a couple of rookie kids and their parents, no matter how smart the parents are *lol*) We took on the DaVinci room, and had a blast! The props were cool, the puzzles weren't too hard, and we NEARLY made it out (with the help of a power outage that accidentally opened a door for us!) Nuclear Meltdown has exeded my expectations with the overall room from the design of the room and the puzzles but I didn't expect there to be more than 1 room with this escape room place, I also didn't expect the good and challenging puzzles. My only problem is with the last puzzle where you had to defuse the bomb, we failed because of this and couldn't find the escape code therefor it gets 4 stars instead of 5. We only put 7 numbers instead of the full 8!! Atleast make the last puzzle where you can actually try multiple times instead of just once!! But the overall room was actually fairly high tech. I can't wait to try their Saving Wonderland room as that room looks better than the one we did. We would have escaped with 8 minutes to spare if it weren't for that puzzle where you can only try once on it. But I was still impressed. I don't recommend this escape room to beginners but rather to someone who has done 4 or 5 different escape rooms. Have fun if you go to this escape room and be extremely careful with the last puzzle. read more

New place, don't expect anything amazing as far as props, but we had a group of 6 with my daughter and her 3 friends (12 year olds). But we had a great time, we did not get out. We were close. The staff helped us when needed. And were nice and cordial. It's not easy, as a matter of fact the puzzle and keys and clues were set up well and took all of us to participate. In all we asked for 4 clues, the guy said that was not alot in comparison to others, but we also did the medium of the 3 different rooms. I bought a Groupon for the escape rooms. I booked online and when my date and I arrived we were told they made a mistake and we were not able to attend as the room was booked to a private party. I have left a couple emails as well as phone calls I have never heard back to reschedule. My Groupon was redeemed and therefore cannot use it. Very disappointed with trying to get a refund or reschedule. It's been almost 2 months now with zero luck. read more
