This hasn't been the first time I had order a breakfast platter and all the potatoes inconsistent cut I've received raw potatoes even my bacon the second I have order this meal it was received the same way cook and uncooked bacon same thing with the potatoes. Unbelievable they still making it this way. They need to either change the cooks. Or management should have a talk with them regarding this matter. Ordered 2 sandwiches today. 1 tuna and 1 chicken salad. They were over stuffed to the point it was glooped on. They put them on the wrong bread and also bagel. They tasted disgusting so I threw my wife's and mine right in the trash. Also they used to have excellent napkins now it's so thin and not soft a real disappointment. Weekends are made for lazy mornings and delicious omelettes. Today, we tried three new omelettes; the Greek omelette, the Western omelette, and the French omelette. The Greek omelette was filled with spinach and feta cheese. It was served with a side of tasty home fried potatoes. It was scrumptious. The French omelette included crispy fried onions, sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese. It was so good. It was also served with yummy home fried potatoes. The Western omelette included Canadian bacon, green onions, red and green pepper and cheddar cheese. It was so tasty. And, it also came with the same great home fried potatoes. We also ordered a gyro platter, for my granddaughter. She loved the meat. Instead of the pita, she put it on a bagel. : ) We also ordered an assortment of bagels, which were enjoyable too. Love, love, love bagel cafe. The food coming out of here is always delicious and consistent. Ever since the first time my fiancée brought me, I've loved the bagel sandwiches here. My go to is normally the sausage, egg and cheese but I've also done bacon, egg and cheese. You can't go wrong with any of the bagel options. The jalapeño, cheddar cheese, everything bagel, plain, onion, etc all go well on a sandwich. For just a bagel and some cream cheese, the chocolate and blueberry bagels are amazing. The omelettes are also very good and you can't go wrong with any of them. The staff here are friendly and helpful. The same guy has been working the register for years now. I'm not sure if he's the owner or manager or what, but he's always a friendly face to greet us! The food also comes out fairly quickly. I lived in reston 30 years ago and this was the go to place for NY Bagels. So much so that when we moved closer to 95, anytime we were in the area i got a stinky bagel with fish. This includes 2 birthsand 4 outpatient procedures where i walked in looking like death warmed over with bandages everywhere. Well, 15 yrs later i live three hours away. Came thru Reston and stopped for a stinly bagel with fish. I was so excited until i got to the counter. That man was the most obnoxiously rude man ive had to deal with in a long time. Good morning! What can i get you? I would like an onion bagel with... We are out of onion, it will be a ten minute wait. I see two onions in the basket? Well, someone else may want them. ??? Mgr comes over and tells him i can have the onion bagel. Ok thats done. Nope. Ok, so i will have the onion bagel with plain cream cheese and lox. If you are going to want lox, you need to say that first Ok...i come here once in 5 yrs, probably wont remember Do you want open face or closed? Excuse me? He points behind my left shoulder to a sign showing 2 ways to get the bagel, open or closed and says Can you remember that? I should have walked out but i really wanted that bagel. The shop is small but still cozy, and the outside eating area is pretty nice. The one thing I will say is that I wish the staff was a bit kinder, they were kinda harsh right off the bat. This place SLAPS (slang for hits the spot )! I've been coming here for years and I've never had a bad experience. The only thing that sucks about this place is the tremendous wait on weekends. Everything is amazing and made fresh including their bagels. My go tos are the bagel sandwiches and omelets. I always like to get their chocolate bagel for little snack or dessert. I don't recommend going on the weekend, very busy, in fact the first time I went was on a Saturday, it was so packed that I could barely see the selection, but judging from the crowd I knew I wanted to come back. So I went during the week for breakfast, still busy but not super packed. Lots of bagels to choose from. I purchased strawberry, blueberry, and chocolate chip to bring home. Taste was very good, everything bagel had large salt which was just perfect. The bagel sandwich as a whole, it can be viewed as a treatise to an ideal breakfast incorporating bagel, cheese, and ham. That is, a near-perfect combination of protein and healthiness for a first meal of the day. I enjoyed it and ate it slowly and languorously. Savored each bite. Actually tasted the meat (ham or turkey, both are good!), and the bagel, and the salt and seasoning, and even the cheese. This is how an ideal bagel sandwich is meant to be eaten / enjoyed! Savor each bite as if it were the last. This is what makes it worthy to pay out of pocket for a breakfast, especially one you could have easily cooked up yourself! Also I purchased a 6-pack of bagels (everything, have to try other flavors) as well as some cream cheese spreads (chocolate chip and cinnamon something). Liked the CC spread but it's a bit too sweet / sugary for me. Still great tasting. Not sure of the nutritional content of the bagels, but the everything bagel is pretty spot on. I usually don't like everything bagels, so when a shop does it right and you start liking everything bagel, that's when you know they onto something. I love the Bagel Cafe! I love going there on Saturday mornings to pick my roommates and myself up a nice warm toasted seasoned bagel and flavored cream cheese. My favorite go-to item to buy is the everything bagel with the garlic and herb cream cheese. If I'm craving something sweet, I get their strawberry bagel and strawberry cream cheese because of how brightly colored it is. It brightens my mornings. The bagels that we asked to be toasted were cold and the cream cheese was not spread on any of them. The cinnamon roll and apple fritter tasted like they were days old. The food quality is not what it used to be and when you ask for a something to be done with or without something they do the opposite. Nearly every order we have placed here in 8 years has had some element incorrect. But given the attitudes of those we encountered placing the order, we chose to walk out with what we received. As I mentioned earlier, the food is all good, so even though it was not what I ordered, it was still good. Also, be prepared to wait 10 extra minutes for pickup after you place an online order. There is free lemon infused water and a coffee station when you order coffee as well as tea. Overall, this cafe actually does remind me of New York delis because of all the hustle and bustle energy in the mornings. Rather than being served food that's been sitting there, it's always freshly made. From experience, there has always been a parking spot for everyone.
