My wife and I decided to check out Teabreak Pho and Boba after having heard it serves excellent weekend special noodle soups. Indeed, most of the Vietnamese clientele in the small restaurant seemed to be enjoying hot bowls of bun bo hue, so I went with a bowl of that and my non-beef-eating wife chose the bun rieu. The bun bo hue possessed a clean yet very flavorful broth with notes of lemongrass and hot chili. The meat portions included generous slices of beef shank, pork trotter, blood cake, and pork sausage. Some of the beef shank cuts were a little tough, but the meats otherwise tasted up to par. The accoutrement of herbs and veggies included some authentic, hard to find garnishes such as banana blossom and Vietnamese coriander, which added a fresh, crunchy bite to complement the heady soup. Overall, this was an excellent bun bo hue and rivals many you can get at Eden Center. Similarly, my wife's bun rieu was superb. The broth had a light body but a very distinct and savory shellfish flavor. The crab and shrimp paste had a very silky texture and the bouncy fried tofu cubes soaked up the tomatoey broth perfectly. The bun rieu ran just a touch salty overall, but nonetheless is among the better renditions we have tasted in the area. Our bowls were about $18 each. While a bit steep, the portions satisfied and the quality of ingredients merited the cost. As the name alludes, bubble tea is also served here. My wife enjoyed a solid taro milk tea along with her noodle soup. We have gotten drinks from here in the past and find the offerings above average though, unlike the awesome soups, not necessarily worthy of a dedicated stop. Teabreak also serves other Vietnamese dishes such as banh mi and meats over broken rice, which actually looked quite appetizing coming out of the kitchen. I give this place a solid 4 stars for really tasty, specialty noodle soups and can easily foresee a five star upgrade in the near future after sampling some more dishes. read more

I came here when they first opened (back in 2018). Fast forward a few years and I'm back here to order the same exact drink (coincidentally). As soon as I walked in I noticed the place was empty, except for one couple. Probably the first sign to walk out of there. There was one person standing behind the counter, he was nice but not the best customer service. I had to ask him for a menu (instead of him offering). They don't have the full menu displayed on the wall, as most of the tea places do. The prices did go up (which was expected), so the milk teas were starting at $5.00. I ordered a Thai milk tea with boba, "very" less ice and 25% sweet. The tea tasted as if it was sitting around for a long time, more than half the cup was ice and it was painfully sweet. I couldn't even finish the drink and it made me not want to ever drink Thai milk tea again!! The only good thing about the drink was the boba was perfect, although there was just too much (in addition to the amount of ice. Would I come here again? No, probably not. Would I recommend it? No, probably not. There are just so many of these shops in the surrounding area/cities that are newer and seem to have fresher ingredients. It is located next to a nightclub(??), so I would imagine that maybe a boba tea would be refreshing after a night of dancing. read more

Found this delicious restaurant while in the area for work. The environment is clean, intimate, great for a quick stop in or casual meal with friends and family. I was warmly greeted by a lady at the cashier desk and after reviewing the menu I decided to get ehe Beef Banh Mi and Avocado smoothie since I was in need of a quick snack and didn't quite have time for a full sit down meal. Service was quick (about ten minutes for both my orders to come out). The beef Banh mi was super flavorful (and it has a kick, not too overpowering). They gave me carry out when I wanted to dine in, they overcharged me and didn't explain why until I called twice and asked for a refund, and they got the toppings wrong on my pho. I ordered Monday in person and called Monday once I got home and saw my order was wrong the guy on the phone said he'd give me refund. It's Thursday and no refund has been initiated I call again and the lady says they only did one thing wrong and it's not worth refund so the man on the phone lied to me who is apparently the owner. I've worked at a Vietnamese restaurant before this is ridiculous my order was less than $30 and they completely got everything wrong and aren't willing to give me anything back not even fix the order. read more

I appreciated the cleanliness of this small place but service wasn't particularly friendly, and I could hear what sounded like a lot of bickering in the kitchen. Sadly, not great from start to end. My goddaughter asked a few questions about the menu and wasn't really given any clear answers. The food was very expensive for a fast casual environment. And the dishes I had were disappointing, especially for the price - the pho was flavorless and the bahn mi was dry. First time customer, and unfortunately, last time here. I ordered $60+ in food and drinks to go. My daughter ordered the chicken wings and rice platter. When we got home she realized the wings were overcooked - tough and dry (couldn't get a fork through), but the sauce on them was good. So I called the restaurant to ask if they could replace the wings with a fresh batch that was not overcooked. The guy on the phone agreed, so I drove back up there. When I arrived, a woman proceeded to tell me that the guy didn't know what he was talking about and not to listen to anything he said. She said they couldn't make the wings any different (simply cooking them for less time wasn't an option). She was curt and dismissive. Without asking if I wanted something different, she handed me some cash, but it wasn't the full amount for the chicken wing and rice platter that I had paid for. When I informed her that this was the incorrect change, she attempted to convince me that I paid for the appetizer and not the platter. The guy who had taken my order stood by smirking and laughing, but he didn't interject to confirm that I had ordered the platter. I said, if I ordered the appetizer, then you initially overcharged me. It wasn't until I told her that I would be writing a bad review that she finally gave me the correct amount for the meal (while continuing to tell me that wasn't what I ordered). This place has great reviews (on Google) so I expected better food and better service, but the way they do business is underhanded and unnecessary. Always come here on an empty stomach because the food is so filling! I am vegetarian so this is one of the best vegetarian pho spots i've been to (they include tofu and a lot of vegetables) and great flavor. The boba is pretty good too- the fruit ones especially. Stopped by for lunch last week since I was on the hunt for decent pho and I was pretty impressed. Herndon is definitely not my favorite location for Vietnamese food, but I'm glad I found this little gem. My team and I ordered pho, the pork platter, and the noodle bowl. My coworker also said she really enjoyed her boba. I ordered the classic everything pho and was impressed. There was an insane amount of meat that came with it too which was a really nice touch. They also provide sate sauce which I love!! Not as good as the sate sauce at Pho Sate, but still great to have nonetheless. The meat plate looked really good too. I like that it came with the dry pork and vermicelli mix and the meatloaf which I only see at more authentic Vietnamese restaurants. Their che options also looked great. I'm definitely glad that I decided to stop by today and I'm glad that I don't have to drive all the way to Falls Church to find some decent pho now. Still the best pho restaurant in the area Herndon/Reston!! This location has been my go-to pho place for awhile now and they still got good pho, always consistent with flavor of the soup. And they have good bun Bo hue (only on Fridays & Saturdays). If I'm not craving pho, then I get their vermicelli bowl with grilled pork or their Korean bbq ribs over rice! Yum!! They also have boba milk teas/smoothies! And really good sea salt Vietnamese iced coffee with coffee jelly! Definitely a must try! Didn't love tea break initially when I had moved to the area. That was my DoorDash experience. I have it another shot because a friend had wanted to meet up to have dinner there. I tried the pho and that was pretty mediocre but the best in the area in my opinion. The summer roll was a good size, sometimes they tend to be smaller. Came back a second time to try other items and highly recommend the Bun Bo Hue! Being Vietnamese, I am so particular eating this dish at restaurants because it's just never great. This is by far the best bun Bo hue! Sadly it is only available Friday-Sunday but maybe that's how the quality control is handled. The broth is so red and flavorful, exactly how I like it. It was a cold and stormy night.... ...the perfect time to try out a new pho place. I happened to be at Mom's grocery when the thought hit, so after I was done I Yelp'd (is that a term?) and found this spot. It had good reviews across the board and I was interested in their unusual drinks. It's in a tiny strip mall right next to a 7-11. Took me a minute to find it as the sign isn't as big or bright as some of the others there. The interior isn't very large and they still don't have dining in, but their take out seemed to be doing really well. I ordered a veggie pho and tried one of their drinks. The order was ready in about ten minutes. I drove home, got inside, opened the bag and was alarmed to find the soup container was on its side. However it was so well sealed it didn't leak. What a relief! I opened everything up and was surprised how full of goodies the noodle container and bag with bean sprouts and other garnishes were. At this point I was practically drooling as the drink I had tried was really tasty - and not too sweet as I would have expected - so I had a feeling the soup was going to be on point as well. And it was. Usually veggie pho base is pretty bland, but not here. The soup is flavorful all on its own. Added to the noodles and steamed veggies in the soup bowl, it was delicious. And yes, the veggies with the noodles are steamed, not raw as found in some pho take out places. Just the right amount of crunch. There are only two things that would have made this perfection. First thing is I wasn't fond of the kind of tofu they use. It's the spongy kind. Second is the soup base wasn't super hot. I can easily fix that next time by tossing it into a pot and heating it to the temp I want, which is practically boiling. But those two things are personal preferences and will definitely not deter me from returning. So glad I gave it a try. I now have a favorite pho place near home! read more

I was in the mood for pho and looked for the closest restaurant near me and Tea Break Pho and Boba was it. The restaurant is very cozy and the service was great despite the servers also pulling double duty to take to go orders and to assist Door Dashers. I went with the combo Pho (which they have a few options) and decided to have a summer roll, the Pho with two meats and a Diet Coke. The summer roll was extremely fresh and the pho was absolutely BOMB! The broth was an explosion of flavor and literally didn't need anything to jazz it up...but I'm a chili oil fan and they make their own in house so I had to try some in my pho which took it to an entirely new level of spicy goodness! I enjoyed this so much that I actually went back the very next day and the server remembered me lol! Suboptimal service and a 10% sales tax when the State sales tax is 6% (?!) This is my second time to this establishment in the past 5+ years and there is a reason for it. The first time I visited after it's opening I ordered a meal that was supposed to come with a drink. The drink was not included in my takeout and I was too tired to call them back and haggled. I came back today - truth be told, our usual go-to Pho place is closed and this is my last resort - The lady manning the counter was extremely rude, did not disclose about the additional charge for containers when I called in for the order, they went ahead to charge me even after I told them that I had brought my own containers and they refused to use mine. In the wake of all these environmental crisis, restaurants should really take the lead to drive the reduction in takeout containers rather than use it as an opportunity to up-charge its customers, which is exactly what this establishment does. Ambience: This is a very small shop in a small neighborhood strip shopping center, I won't consider a place for eating out but an option for takeout. There isn't anything else around except for a local Italian restaurant, which we love. Price: $16.5 for a large beef Pho $14.5 for the grilled chicken with rice $6.25 for crispy tofu $6.50 Boba $4.27 Sales Tax There are certainly a variety of Vietnamese cuisines in this area and at this price point with the questionable 10% sales tax? I visit Tea Break often due to its proximity to my house. Initially, I didn't think the soup was fantastic. But that was early on. Since that time, the owners have improved their soup dramatically and now it is my favorite in the Herndon/Reston area. The service here is incredible too. The waitress/cashier/one-woman show who runs the front of the house is the nicest person I've ever met. And she remembers you when you're a regular like me. Besides their pho, which is truly amazing, I also like ordering their Bun Bo Hue on the weekends. And when I'm feeling in the mood for dessert, I will often order a Boba tea to go. I know. I am just as surprised I am giving this five stars as much as you are. The service here is FANTASTIC. The owner here is incredibly, if not overly, friendly. She is warm and is passionate about the menu. I mean everything on the menu, she was smiling and grinning ear to ear on how good it all is. If you step inside here, you will see she is not blowing smoke out of her ass, she really means it. And you listen and take heed. Unfortunately for me, I am still nervous about trying pho after my nasty experience in Manassas. It is almost like I am a little kid trying to wade into the water to see how cold it really is. However, there are other items on the menu you can order from that are not pho-related, which gave me a sense of relief. I got myself the fishball skewers (her suggestion), and a grilled pork Banh Mi sandwich. Upon first bite, the freshness of everything hits you. You cannot put any of this down, because all of it is just amazingly delicious. The fish balls are light and airy but the taste is not too fishy. The Banh Mi? FANTASTIC! Excellent flavor and ingredients work just fine. The bread is a bit crumbly, but it works incredibly well and is so delicious you will look bashful when you finish it. Do not pass up this final word of advice. If you pay in cash, they take 10% off your bill. I am not kidding. This will make a difference so definitely take advantage of this offer. Not to mention the really cute Vietnamese owner (I would like to think so) will probably make you want to change your mind if you plan on whipping out the plastic. Will I return? YES! I got the Matcha Strawberry but it was really sweet and it had strawberry jam and strawberry popping boba. I asked if I could change it and they said yes if u pay half price of whatever smoothie you want so I got the golden mango. It's pretty good. The place itself is pretty nice as well. This place really impressed me, the portion sizes are huge and the quality of the ingredients are clear as day. I ordered the Rice with Grilled Pork and Egg (Com Suong Trung) and it was one of the best I've had. The cut of pork was great and the meat was cooked perfectly, barely any burnt pieces at all. It came with a healthy amount of veggies and the egg had a yummy runny yolk. My friends also ordered the Vermicelli Special and the Hue Style Spicy Noodle Soups. When they brought out the small bowl, I thought it was the large! They all said they enjoyed it and everything looked and smelled very authentic, the servers all spoke Vietnamese as well. Overall, the Pho Ga was pretty good. They use a chicken broth - which is how it should be. The broth was steaming away, the chicken was tender, the rice noodles were not all clumped up - and the plate of aromatics was fresh: bean sprouts, basil, lime, jalapeños... Vietnamese food always hits the spot for us, so we ended up here. Wow! One of the best pho broths I've had since I moved to this area in 2014! I tasted the broth before adding in the fixings, and I was able to really taste the aromatics. I slurped the entire bowl, and my husband loved his chicken vermicelli bowl. The service was quick and friendly, and the owners were so lovely and nice. I wish this were closer to home because I would probably go at least once a week (that's how good it was). I've been to the Sterling location numerous times and was excited to see that they opened a Herndon location as well! This one is smaller, but has the same drink and food items. It is more of a quick, informal, sit-down restaurant. You order at the register and they give the food to you when it's ready. Surprisingly, for the type of quick-style restaurant it is, service is decent and they are really friendly. My review is just based on the bun bo hue (spicy Vietnamese beef noodle soup.) I haven't tried any other food item, so I can't speak on that, but I really enjoy the flavor and portion size of the soup. The prices are pretty reasonable too. The Pho and Viet Iced Coffee was on point in both locations. If only it was closer to where I live but if I had time I would eat there several times a week. You wouldn't expect it but this modernized pho spot with young waitstaff is a lot friendlier and has a better vibe than the old school spots like Pho75 Falls Church which never accepts credit card and not so friendly employees. I still prefer the Sterling location over this one for two reasons. The Sterling location has a variety of specials on the weekends. And that location seems to be better staffed when we eat there. The few times I've dined at this location, there's only one person serving and taking care of the bills. It can get awkward when costumers like us witness tension between the server and the cooks in the kitchen. You can tell they're arguing about dividing up the workload. Besides that, the server has always been attentive and goes the extra mile to take care of us. I prefer the pho at 'Pho 75' more. But I like the option of making my own pho here with the choice of 4 meats. My toddler loves pho in general and the kids pho with the choice of one meat (we like the shredded pork) makes her one happy camper. This location is so convenient to her pediatrician's office, we take her here as a treat after a daunting visit to the doctors. My favorite dish is definitely the grilled pork with rice and meatloaf. The pork is flavorful. The rice is nicely "broken". That meatloaf is heaven. I'm always craving that meatloaf and shredded pork. I also think their grilled pork banh mi and garlic herb shrimps skewers are good too. The bread for the banh mi is crusty and thick. They don't skimp on the meat and every bite is crunchy and savory.
