On a hot and humid day, I decided to try something cold for lunch. I picked the "veranda" from the menu. It is a plain bagel, with mashed avocado, crushed/chopped pistachios with a sliced hard boiled egg on top. It was an interesting taste; perhaps a a little salty, but the taste grew on me. I liked it and I was full after eating it. I've been meaning to try their bagels and finally had a free morning where I was up super early and had nothing to do. I put in a take out early, and by the time I got there, it was bagged and ready! It was a Sunday at 7:15 am, so it wasn't really too busy yet. There was also a running race going on and not much parking (pretty sure that's a one off though) so that could've contributed to the quiet morning as well. The bagels were delicious. I got a cinnamon raisin bagel with plain cream cheese. It was perfect. We also tried the mountain view (potato latke, egg, cheese, and avocado) sandwich and the bacon Sun city (bacon, egg, cheese, and hot honey) sandwich. Both were delicious. Bagel sandwiches are a little messy to eat and they don't skimp on any ingredients either the avocado was great. My husband really enjoyed his everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Honestly though, the stars are their Strawberry B&W Oreo cookie and chocolate babka muffin. I wanted to try the cinnamon raisin babka muffin but it wasn't avaliable at the time. The strawberry oreo cookie is the perfect amount of sweetness with the strawberry icing and then the darker chocolate side. Their strawberry icing is absolutely perfect. I don't think I've had a better strawberry glaze. It's sweet, good amount of strawberry flavor and the perfect balance of artificial strawberry flavor where you can't tell and it's just naturally strawberry enough. I wish they made a cookie where it's fully strawberry glazed. The chocolate babka muffin (I got warmed) is the perfect size. So much chocolate. And a dark chocolate so it's not in your face sweet. Loved every bite of what I ordered recently from Call Your Mother in Reston. I had my all time favorite, the Royal Palm. I wish I remembered to get it with plain bagels! I don't know why but I just dislike toasted bagels with seeds on it. It tastes bitter and crunchy to me in ways I find it dwarfing all the other flavors of the sandwich. I also tried out their babka muffin. I appreciated the bitterness of the chocolate and the crunchy texture it had. Love how it wasn't too sweet. Would definitely order it again as it was airy and not too heavy. Lastly, the inside of the store is brightly decorated with ample seatings available. This adorable shop was positively bustling on a Saturday morning. I ordered the Thunderbird breakfast bagel. The bagel was soft and chewy. The egg was steamed and the sausage was on the sweet side. Altogether was effect was smooth and sweet. There was a little bit of a wait as my sandwich was assembled fresh. So excited to see CYM in Reston! This store is a great location if you are in the need of a good bagel. I will say it does take a bit of time for the bagels to come out. Give the large volume of orders, the staff handled the situation very well and tried their best to be accommodating. I think the bagels at Call your Mother are just okay. I admit, I am picky. The ambience is cute and well designed, and the service is fairly friendly. There are new specialty coffee drinks that looked tasty. This location is much smaller than the others I have been to, but works tucked into a strip mall in a more suburban location. My main complaint is the cream cheese flavors - there's plain and an herb, and then the rest are sweet, with one example being a key lime flavored shmear. I love key lime, but a sweet cream cheese like that does not even appeal to me. I'd love more savory options, like Jalapeno. read more

Visited CYM for lunch on a Saturday with a group of friends after hunting for Labubus across the street. As a bagel lover, I really enjoyed this spot. I had the Moon River on a cheesy bagel and it hit the spot. The bagel was doughy and not overly cheesy but the standout was the egg. It was fluffy, light, and full of flavor. I also ordered a latte which was solid. The space is pretty small and gets crowded quickly, especially on weekends. It was tough to find a table for our group of five so we ended up eating in the car. There are tables but expect them to be full during busy hours. Still, I would recommend it. First of all, I want to give a shout out to Yelp friend, Hannah H. If it weren't for Hannah being the first to review, it would have taken me a long time to figure out that a "Call Your Mother" opened just up the street from where I live. As for ambiance (there - I said it Yelp). It's basically a takeout place with limited seating but brightly decorated with pink being the dominant color. The place had the usual squatters gazing at their laptops. We were here on a Wednesday afternoon and ordered take out food. I chose to make my own version of the "Royal Palm" which consists of: "Smoked salmon, plain cream cheese, onions cucumber, tomato, capers on an everything bagel". I'm not a fan of raw onions plus I wanted a plain bagel. The young woman at the register was very friendly and helpful. She made sure that my bagel sandwich had all the ingredients that I wanted. We ate the food for our dinner that night. I have to say I was wowed by my meal. The first bite had some of the best smoked salmon I've ever had---nice flavor that hit me right away. The smokiness was just right. In the past when I've gotten a bagel with lox and cream cheese, the lox was good but Call Your Mother's version was just amazing. I had never seen cucumbers used in such a bagel sandwich but...I was glad they were there as they added an element of crunch. The capers added a nice touch of briny flavor. I would gladly have this sandwich again! My husband ordered a "Big Turkey" which consists of: "turkey, lettuce, tomato, red onion, Duke's mayo on challah bread". He was asked if he wanted rye bread instead but he preferred the challah. The "lettuce" seemed to be romaine. There were several chunks of the ribs atop the sandwich. He would have preferred that they use iceberg lettuce: you can get the right height for the sandwich without the chunks of romaine rib: those should IMHO be used for salads. Otherwise the sandwich had a lot of turkey, but it was just put on the bread in a chunk. Overall, the sandwich was OK not great. The sandwich, while large, seemed to me overpriced. Ordered for pickup and had a wonderful experience. My food and coffee was ready and waiting for pickup for the exact time I had set it for. What I love most about this place is that they offer a gluten free bagel option which you don't often see. The option - a Yuca Cheese Bread - was out of this world. It was chewy and delicious. It can be disappointing when I go to a bagel place and there is no gluten free options. I no longer need to worry about that. The sandwich I ordered with the Yuca bread was the Sun City. It was so tasty I wish I had two. The only downside was that the coffee was just ok. I had a special latte which was a cinnamon roll flavor. It was too bitter and was not sweet like I was expecting. The bagels from CYM are always a great breakfast treat so I was very excited to have one open up closer to home as it's such a great spot for bagels. They have a wide variety of sandwiches with efficient service. I got the Queen's Point but substituted for the everything bagel. One thing that is really good about the everything bagel from here is that the seasoning is on both sides of the bagel. The inside was so pretty and colorful. The colors give off a fun vibe going in. I love the aesthetics. I came on a Sunday morning. It was so busy the chairs were all full. Luckily, I was able to snag a seat! The staff was friendly. I ordered the Mountain View. It has latke, egg, mashed avocado, and cheeses on a plain Bagel. It was so hot and flavorful! When I got to take a bite the steam from how hot it was kept going through the entire time I was eating it. The cheese was so nice and gooey. The egg was creamy and added to the overflowing flavor just oozing out of the bagel. They flavored their mashed avocado so there was a bite that cuts the creaminess of the egg and cheese. The latke was nicely cooked, it was crispy and had that crunch with each bite. A little thing that made me a little upset is that I had ordered my meal and a lady with the same first name had recently ordered. When I came up to grab my meal, she had already grabbed my bag and squished it before I pointed out that was actually my order as she didn't look on the receipt what was in it. As personable as saying who's item it is, I wish they used a number system instead so there wouldn't be an awkward situation like this. We visited the newer Vienna location and the person I was with said "This is one of the best bagels I've ever had, which is saying alot because I lived in New York." I ordered the Bacon Sun City on a cheese garlic bagel and it was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I got the salted caramel white mocha as well and it was delicious!! The inside was very small with very few seating options (maybe about three tables total) but the overall vibe of the place was very cute and clean. The restrooms from what I remember were also pretty decently sized too and clean as well. Everyone was pretty friendly. Order line is to your left... pickup straight ahead... limited seating at the counter hugging the front and right walls! This is only our second time at a Call Your Mother. First time was in Vienna... from my memory similar menu options. Hubby got a royal palm. Your standard Liz bagel franchise with tomato cucumber and capers. He modified the options to go a cinnamon raisin bagel and the jalapeño nacho cream cheese as he likes a sweet savory combo. This time I opted for the spicy pastrami minus the mayo. They have mustard packets on the side. I selected rye but challah also an option. Overall a nice sandwich with the jalapeño and pickled veggies. I would prefer a more moist pastrami myself but if you like yours lean this is perfect... mustard helped and I snarfed some cucumbers from hubby... that added a bit so I'll probably add cucumbers and onions next time! It's opening period so check your orders... a small probably on hubbies bagel the first time but was easily corrected when brought to their attention. Great customer service IMO! When you're there ask to get your pic on the wall if you want... they were actively doing that today for opening... not sure if they do all the time! Understanding this is a brand new place, and they are finding their footing, this review might be updated after a second visit. For my first experience though, here's my take. Pros: the place is a pop of color and charm; a night and day difference compared to the former Bobby's Bagel. Everything has been revamped with fresh paint and decor, and the vibe is clean, upbeat, and fresh. Unfortunately, the other pieces were average. The drip coffee wasn't good, but the muffin nice. I will have to come back though to try their bagels - although from the looks of it, it might be hard rather than fluffy and soft (as Bobby's was). The place is also small, and with the barstool "chairs", it isn't a very comfortable place to eat/drink. I'm not a fan of the layout (for seating). It's more of a grab and go place, and not a space to chill, talk or stay. Overall, the place has potential, but it seems more about the marketing and vibe than quality-comforting food. I prefer the hole-in-the-wall, come-and-stay, lower priced deli. I'll give it another shot though in the future. read more

I visited this location after a buddy had raved about the bagels in DC. I was happy that a location opened close to me in Reston! I tried the Royal Palm which has Plain Cream Cheese, Smoked Salmon, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Capers on an Everything bagel. I also tried the latke, which wasn't the best but a nice treat to try. The bagel definitely stole the show, and the freshness of the ingredients was certainly noticeable. I also had an iced cold brew with cinnamon syrup, and oat milk. I think I would come back and try the yuca cheesy bread next time and a bit more sugar in the coffee, which wasn't bad, just like mine sweet. This CYM location is consistent with the other ones as far as quality goes (which is great if you haven't been). It's pretty busy so I suggest going there early. I LOVE the pastrami Sun City, the royal Palms is good in the sense that they don't skimp on fillings, and the Jetski is amazing if you're craving something savory. I was excited to see this spot open up in Reston as I was a big fan of their Georgetown location. I ordered some bagels to go and a custom bagel sandwich with everything seasoning. The zaatar bagel and the cheddar bagels were great and fresh! The everything bagel however tasted hard, chewy, and stale. Both the individual bagel and bagel sandwich with everything seasoning tasted stale. Almost like it was day old bagels.. it's a shame because that's my favorite seasoning and I won't ever order it again at this location. read more

I've been here twice and have had my husband pick up an order once, so three experiences all together. The service was very good each time and there is a decent variety of sandwiches. Mari was the most recent person that helped me and she was very patient, courteous, and took the time to make sure my order (I'm a picky vegetarian) was right before she sent it off. I noticed that the staff around her were busy keeping things in order behind the counter and jumped in to help with the line as Mari was helping me. This is a solid place to get lunch.
