Wow! Visiting NYC for my son's upcoming surgery and the hotel we're staying at recommended. NYC is know for their bagels and I see why! This place is as authentic as they come. Fresh, made to order and tasty! We tried the plain bagel LS with bacon, egg and cheese. Total we got 4 bagels, 4 hashbrowns and 2 large coffees for $34! I don't think you could get that at McDonald's. Definitely much better and clean good food! I highly recommend! Next time I'm going to try the cream cheese. read more

Bagel Express 347 Lexington Avenue in Murray Hill was recommended to me by my barista. She lives nearby. I have had Bagel Express Bagels and Cream Cheese at another location called Bagel Express II. Their menu is reasonably priced and they meet my bagel standards. I'm not an expert. I was meeting my dear Yelp friend Jasmine from Vancouver. She's staying at a hotel nearby on vacation. I arrived early and was hungry. I was happy I was hungry because I don't have much of an appetite lately. I went ahead and ordered a Pumpernickel Bagel and Garlic Herb Cream Cheese. I found a table and pulled up chairs for Jasmine and her husband. I didn't wait and ate my bagel before they got there. This Bagel Express isn't as nice as the other location. It's long and narrow so I found seating to be uncomfortable. I also think they could put more cream cheese on the bagel. It's $5.39 so the price is good. I definitely love the taste of their pumpernickel bagel and their garlic herb cream cheese. I just hate when I have to spread out my cream cheese myself because otherwise it doesn't cover the bagel. You can see my four pieces in my photo AFTER I spread the cream cheese myself! I think I'll stick to the other location. I'm not sure if Jasmine and her husband Chris enjoyed their breakfast. I am a regular customer who picks up a bagel here 3-4 times per week. The attitude of the employees at this store is really upsetting. I had a situation where they forgot to put my bagel in the to-go bag and I didn't realize because there was also soda inside. When I got home and realized I had no bagel, they hung up the phone on me and said it was my fault for not checking my bag. This isn't the first time I've had an issue- they continually get orders wrong. The man who claims to be the manager is rude and doesn't care about customers. All he had to do was apologize, not to even mention offering me a discount for next time. They don't care about loyalty or quality and I would avoid this place if you can. read more

I love the combination of mike's hot honey with scallion cream cheese. It's the perfect sweetness with the savory flavor of the bacon, egg, and cheese. The chefs and clerk were both fast and efficient with their service. However, I find the bagel on the more expensive end. I liked how there was a wide variety of options to choose from on the menu. This place is awful. They use lowest quality ingredients. Don't get the lox! I had a serious stomach ache for hours and struggled all day at work. I've given them multiple chances to redeem themselves thinking that was just an "off day". So I got the chicken cutlet sandwich. Their chicken is awful. I went in one day for the most simple bagel with butter sandwich - now this is something you CANNOT mess up but this place manages to throw a clump of butter and close the bagel and the bagels here hurt your jaw. So, Ritual was offering a seemingly pretty decent discount on a 'Cubano Scooper Melt' - essentially a scooped out bagel with 'oven roasted ham, fresh turkey, Swiss cheese, dill pickle and Russian dressing' So, I placed my order and added a request/instruction of the bagel to be toasted, no Russian dressing, and if possible, add mustard. I went to pick up my order, was a pretty quick transaction. Chewy and soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. While in the city for a long business trip, I tried the everything, cheddar bacon, and egg everything bagels. My favorite was the egg everything! They also have lots of cream cheese options. I only tried the scallion and garlic herb. I liked both, don't make me pick a favorite. ;) They give a HUGE schmear of cream cheese so be ready for a mouthful. Some will likely even ooze out onto your lap if you're not careful. Or, you know, you could ask for them to go light with the cream cheese but you will likely be judged. They have a good variety of options for caffeine, too. I stopped in for my fair share of coffee (enjoyed the lattes and cappuccinos, wish they had a non dairy option like soy or almond milk) and hot tea. I love how they pack it all up to go in a compact little brown bag, bagel and beverage in the same bag. I made it several blocks to the office every morning with the to-go bundle and never spilled. Used to be a regular until today. And when you are a regular you know your set prices. One of the days out of the week, there is this taller, slim hispanic guy that usually does not wear a mask that handles the cashier. First off, I greeted him good morning and was completely ignored and had to deal with already nasty but think he runs sh** attitude. Then when he rang up the wrong price, i told him that I normally pay $4.50 everyday he proceeds to say "who said that?! Who said that?! I MAKE THE PRICES HERE!" More like you MAKEUP the prices there. Im not your child to be speaking to like that and I know who the owners of this establishment are. This man is thinking he is actually running this place but hes more like running people out of there with his stanky attitude. I will not give this place my or anyone from my place of work any business. The staff was rude, I put extra cash in tip jar to maybe help. I ordered an iced coffee and a vegetarian breakfast wrap with avocado . The wrap had bacon in it, no avocado. I didn't complain I just needed some water to get it down. When I asked for an extra cup of water, the man said no and turns away to ignore me. He then says" I don't waste cups". New York Bagels at their best! Of course I've never had a New York bagel but this was a good find! Very very busy and a lot on the menu! I would've taken pictures but they MOVE the line quick!
