Went with some coworkers, so even though we ended up with a large order, we were able to all order efficiently and not wait too long for us all to get our items. They could have done a little better labelling as some of the stickers came off, but I was glad they could accommodate us. There is some seating inside as well, but a lot of people were grabbing and going, so getting a seat depends on how busy it is. I got an egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel, which was made perfectly (cashier asked which cheese I wanted, which bagel, how to cook the eggs) so I was able to perfectly customize to my tastes. It was a very tasty and filling sandwich. The latte was also good paired with it. There is a lot of options for breakfast and lunch. They did misspell "espresso" as "expresso" once, but I'll forgive it. We chose to come here over Starbucks across the street and ended up with a great nosh. read more

Tried to go to another bagel shop nearby but we were in a bit of a hurry and there was a line out the door, so alas we ended up at Bagel Market. The shop was fairly large with lots of seating, and a very short line. They had a huge cream cheese selection, really blew me away, and a pretty good bagel selection too. We opted for a sandwich on an everything, and then a bagel with cream cheese on an egg bagel. Unfortunately they messed up the order and gave us the wrong cream cheese for the egg bagel. We asked for the scallion lox and were just given regular lox, so not a huge difference, but we really wanted those scallions. They have a variety of spreads and add a heaping amount to bagels. The veggie cream cheese tasted rotten. Almost like the cream cheese was spoiled. Overall the large everything bagel lacked in any flavor, the bagel was too chewy for my liking, and worst of all was the weird taste of cream cheese. The staff could be friendlier and more inviting. Got a Lox Spread Sesame Bagel here, and it was very enjoyable!! The flavor of the bagel is classic and has that great slight sweetness to it that I think well-made bagels should always have. I ordered it lightly toasted so that I could gauge how fresh the bagels are for the future without risking a very chewy untoasted one, and it was still a bit too chewy so I probably wouldn't order it untoasted. The lox spread was delicious - no notes! The place itself is clean, larger than I expected, and has speedy service. They have several people working the food bar, drinks and getting the orders out together, but their system is not working when food takes this long. Now, the bagels were ok. The sandwiches lacked flavor, the actual bagel was ok, but difficult to bite, specially the one with avocado, it was not mashed and spread onto the bagel, so when you bite into it all falls out. Maybe adding a flavored cream cheese spread would have added more flavor. So I wasn't feeling my best and just wanted a bagel to have something in my stomach. I'm thinking the morning rush is over since it's about 11am on a Wednesday, so I stopped by this place called Bagel Market. I had to repeat my order to two different people three different times. One guy who was originally behind the counter and went to enter it in the register and then a lady who was at the register. I also paid for a banana, and all of the bananas there looked like they had been in a fight and lost. $.75 for a tiny bruised banana when I could have gone around the corner and got 3 for the same price. Okay, strike one. Then, the service was excruciatingly slow. They had people working, but it was as if they were doing certain orders first or the orders for Regulars first and then others later. Strike two. Then I ordered three bagels: two with flavored cream cheese and one plain. Let me be clear, the lady REPEATED my order back to me exactly as I said it with the ONE (1) plain bagel. I'm looking at the total like why is this so much, but again, I'm not feeling well and just wanted to get my food. A Lady took a seat behind me complaining about her food taking so long so someone walked up to find out the issue with their order which prompted someone else to find out why their order was taking so long as well. I got my bag after a good 30 mins (no exaggeration) and left. When I got back to the office, I looked in my bag and buried at the bottom, I saw two extra bagels. And I'm like, what?! Wait a minute.... Now, normally, I check my receipt from the beginning, but I didn't this time. I checked my receipt, and sure enough, I was charged for three plain bagels instead of one. So I have a bag of FIVE bagels. STRIKE THREEEEE!! The crazy thing is that the long wait wasn't because of the extra bagels because those were all plain. Sooo why was the wait 30 minutes? Also, remember I stated the lady repeated my order back to me?? SO, how did I end up with the additional bagels?? After that long of a wait, I wasn't going back because who knows how long it would have taken to get it reconciled. On a positive note, the bagels I got, which were raisin and rainbow, were good. They weren't mind-blowing but good. They were pretty consistently soft without being raw dough, and they stayed well since I didn't eat them all the same day (I had a weeks worth of bagels at this point). The cinnamon walnut raisin cream cheese wasn't a favorite of mine, but the raw honey almond cream cheese was really good. The bagels were $1.95, and the cream cheese was $3.30. The place looks and seems pretty spacious, but the front ordering area got crowded quickly because of the wait times. I'm not sure how they may be during rush hours, but I definitely wouldn't want to find out. They are near a hospital and two colleges not to mention the hs around. You'd think they'd be more efficient. Also, they offer discounts only to John Jay students and Mount Sinai staff but not John Jay staff, anyone from Fordham University or Alvin Ailey. read more

When staff is alone some eat on top and around the food with lackluster service but I'm not new here I can overlook some things but not today. Why would they initially not want to replace my bagel? As a native new yorker you don't think I know what an everything bagel should look and taste like?
