We checked this place out recently for breakfast and it was good. They were out of a couple of cream cheese spreads, so I tried the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel and my wife had an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. Everything was pretty tasty. The bagels were reasonably priced and worth checking out.

I knew I needed to have an everything bagel with lox spread when coming to NY and the Bagel Hole filled that craving. The bagel is on the smaller side which was actually a perfect portion that doesn't make you feel weighed down. They have bagel sandwiches with eggs too. The ladies working the counter were nice and helpful when we were ordering. There's no sit down area or bathrooms here. We went down a couple blocks and ate at Variety Coffee Roasters.

My former neighborhood bagel joint maintains as a top tier bagel in NYC Bagel Hole is small & scruffy but their bagels are petite , dense, well baked & perfect. Bagels should not be sandwich repositories. This is a true NYC bagel! I got a whole wheat everything & it was perfect. I like it more than others of the old school genres from Queens. It's been in business for decades for good reason.

This place's bagel are very unusual - the outside is crunchy like a cracker. And the inside is chewy but not like airy. The cream cheese was actually pretty good and feels like they put something. They don't toast bagels there

A small to-go place with quick service. The bagels were not good, very dense and chewy. They do not toast the bagels. The scallion cream cheese wasn't really heavy on the scallion and the lox was fine. The prices are similar to other bagel shops in the area, $12 for bagel with lox and cream cheese, $5 for sausage and egg on a bagel. Overall, there are definitely better bagel places in the neighborhood.

The Bagel Hole (aptly named) is a local, hole in the wall, delicious spot for a grab and go bagel. No frills, no toaster, just good bagels. There can be a line out the door of the teeny storefront on the weekends, but it tends to move quickly and I would say the bagels are worth the wait. Very affordable too! The bagels have a nice crispy crust, a nice chewy texture, and most impressively I think the flavor itself is very tasty. Good and salty! I love how salty the everything seasoning blend they use is. Worth noting - the bagels are on the smaller side. In the warm months there is a makeshift outdoor space to enjoy your bagel, but really it's a takeaway spot. I would recommend getting a bag of bagels to go and making a bagel sandwich yourself at home, especially if you like a toasted bagel. Definitely my favorite bagel spot in Park Slope, and one of my all-time favorites in the whole city!

The service is quick and efficient, though don't expect too much chitchat--Bagel Hole is all about getting you your bagel fix fast. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality, making it a great value.

Small, but mighty bagel. I will make this review brief because of how tiny the bagels are here. Bagel sandwich is neat. Bagel is good. Crunchy exterior chewy interior. The fillings are fresh. $11 is a good price for cream cheese and lox. Short walk from the 7th Ave station on the F/G. You know you have something good when a pigeon is trying to grab it while you are eating it.

Great fresh bagels from the best spot in Brooklyn. They don't have a toaster so don't even ask. Just enjoy them hot with melted butter. They may be smaller than the giant puffy bagels sold elsewhere but just remember that these are normal size and taste 10xs better.

I'm not even sure how this place passed a health inspection. There was dirty freezer water dripping into the cream cheeses and tuna. The service was good. I took one bite of the bagel and the egg tasted old. Really disappointed after reading all the hype that this is the best bagel in NYC. It's a no from me.

Bagel Hole is one of the best bagel shops in the area. Plain bagels were tasty. Lots of salt on the Everything bagel. Long long line.

Do not give them any business. Came in with my service dog, stated it was a service dog and was still told no dogs and was cursed out.

I think their bagels have a nice equilibrium between dense and chewiness with a glossy hard exterior.

As far as the customer service goes I wish it was a bit better. The staff aren't the most pleasant. No good morning no acknowledgement of comprehending what you order they just walk away and start the order. Which is why I double check always. I do notice they speak more pleasantly to other customers that come in. Not sure if it's a culture thing or could they be discriminatory but it's a bit unsettling. If you are in the neighborhood, you should pop in and buy something to show your respect. What you should buy is the herring. And specifically, if you happen to be lucky enough to stroll in during Holland Herring season in June/July, that is the herring to get. Even if you just had a giant meat based meal a couple doors down, you can still make room for one herring. Consider it the Jewish equivalent of surf and turf. Although one of my friends said visiting both LES icons was more akin to a "bang bang". Sometimes it's the small shops that make the biggest mark. This is certainly the case with R&D. The place is tiny, but the fish is mighty. I can't speak highly enough about the Holland Herring. So silky. So delicate. So much fun to eat. Held up by the tail, dragged through a mix of chopped onions and pickles, and lowered down into your awaiting mouth. These things are large. They are going to take a few good sized bites. Enjoy the contrast of textures and flavors. Tilting your head back to eat it almost demands that you close your eyes and savor every moment. Yes, the entire herring case is a marvel. While most folks will walk out of R&D with nova (what most people call lox, but is really cold smoked salmon), the real score is the sable and sturgeon. Or, if you are a salt lover, you can get legitimate belly lox here too. It satisfies the soul to see an appetizing store holding the line. Sure, you can put your smoked fish on a bagel or bialy with cream cheese. However, I submit that fish this good should really be enjoyed in its purest form. Maybe if you want to cut the salt, lay some on a thin piece of old world 100% rye bread. Not the squishy deli stuff, but the hard eastern European kind. Perhaps a dolop of sour cream. A few chives if feeling fancy. My old cantor used to love creamed herring with pickled onions on chunks of challah. If you go the herring route and it's not Holland Herring season, I fully endorse this approach. But don't sleep on the Holland Herring. Get one. Eat it on the bench outside or bring it across the street and eat it standing up in the park. I heard rumor that once upon a time folks would eat them right at the counter. That seems a little messy for my taste, but far be it from me to keep a herring lover from their delightful fishy morsels.

They clearly prioritize hygiene here. Everything tasted phenomenally good. Miguel had given me samples of some food so I could make a decision about what to purchase. This place is not the cheapest, but you're paying for top quality.
