Everything bagel w scallion cream cheese

Best bagel spot in Park Slope. Excellent crunch on exterior, perfectly chewy fluffy core & fresh made cream cheese flavors (try the scallion if you want a guaranteed good time. All the old heads know. Team is great, everyone here is so friendly. 10/10 spot for a awesome bagel at a reasonable price

There are two things that I must have when I'm in NY. A slice of pizza and a bagel. This place was in the neighborhood, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I was impressed by the variety of schmears available. I got some Everything Bagels to bring back ($1.60 each) and a 1/2 oz container of cream cheese ($1.50). My bagel was still warm when I got home. It was soft, chewy and everything a NY bagel should be. They were still soft & fresh a day later.

Turkey bacon when I asked for regular bacon

Went in asking for a bacon, egg and avocado on a bagel. As soon as I got home and took a bite I knew something was off, as I wasn't getting that amazing bacon taste. When I looked it was clearly turkey bacon, I was severely unhappy as not only as it wasn't what I asked for but I hate turkey bacon taste ( plus I was deadly hungover) This was my second chance with this place and it's a no going forward. My neighbor also mentioned a bad experience here with a moldy bagel. I just read two other reviews that also say this has happened where they were given turkey bacon when they didn't ask for it. If they were out of normal bacon and needed to sub in, I would have asked for something else if I had been told but based on the other reviews I don't believe that's what happened .

This is my go to place for bagels every-time I'm home visiting my mom. They always toast the bagels right and never leave me disappointed with the amount of schmear they put on them. Their ice coffee are great as well. They have a friendly staff and the flow of traffic is always good. This place for sure gets a recommendation all day. They have some benches outside so on a sunny day you can eat your bagel and sip your coffee in peace. When in Park Slope make sure to get your bagel from here. You won't be disappointed at all.

This is a real nyc bagel shop. They make good bacon egg and cheeses and the staff is really friendly. They are pretty efficient, and move through a line pretty quick. They have lots of cream cheeses if you like that.

Went with an Everything Bagel with Lox Spread.. The counter man asked if I would like it toasted, which I politely declined. The bagel looked great, tons of toppings.. However, upon eating it, the crust was extremely crunchy, akin to good Italian bread.. Tasted good, but not quite what I want my Non toasted bagel to be like.. Not sure if this batch was a bit over baked, it didn't taste bad or burned.. I definitely will try them again.. The coffee was excellent tho! Picked up an Italian bomb hero for lunch, excellent!! Just like what I used to get at the neighborhood Italian deli..

STALE, TOO AIRY, & PLAIN. These bagels have a texture that you don't ever need to experience. Go elsewhere.

Also the iced coffee is always made perfectly and bonus points that they dilute the sugar with some hot coffee first so you don't have a mouth full of granulated sugar.

As far as the customer service goes I wish it was a bit better. The staff aren't the most pleasant. No good morning no acknowledgement of comprehending what you order they just walk away and start the order. Which is why I double check always. I do notice they speak more pleasantly to other customers that come in. Not sure if it's a culture thing or could they be discriminatory but it's a bit unsettling. Food: 3.8/5 I only order the poppy seed bagel and that's pretty tasty. Not to doughy although I do have them take out a good portion of the bread because I like it to be extremely thin. Service: 3 /5 Service needs major improvements , language barriers are also a major factor to consider as they do speak Spanish and their primary language. Ambiance: 3/5 Standard & basic bagel shop set up. Standing & waiting area is basic they have counter tops should you want to stand inside and eat nothing fancy. They do have a wide variety of drinks to choose from and coffee and tea.

If you are in the neighborhood, you should pop in and buy something to show your respect. What you should buy is the herring. And specifically, if you happen to be lucky enough to stroll in during Holland Herring season in June/July, that is the herring to get. Even if you just had a giant meat based meal a couple doors down, you can still make room for one herring. Consider it the Jewish equivalent of surf and turf. Although one of my friends said visiting both LES icons was more akin to a "bang bang". Sometimes it's the small shops that make the biggest mark. This is certainly the case with R&D. The place is tiny, but the fish is mighty. I can't speak highly enough about the Holland Herring. So silky. So delicate. So much fun to eat. Held up by the tail, dragged through a mix of chopped onions and pickles, and lowered down into your awaiting mouth. These things are large. They are going to take a few good sized bites. Enjoy the contrast of textures and flavors. Tilting your head back to eat it almost demands that you close your eyes and savor every moment. Yes, the entire herring case is a marvel. While most folks will walk out of R&D with nova (what most people call lox, but is really cold smoked salmon), the real score is the sable and sturgeon. Or, if you are a salt lover, you can get legitimate belly lox here too. It satisfies the soul to see an appetizing store holding the line. Sure, you can put your smoked fish on a bagel or bialy with cream cheese. However, I submit that fish this good should really be enjoyed in its purest form. Maybe if you want to cut the salt, lay some on a thin piece of old world 100% rye bread. Not the squishy deli stuff, but the hard eastern European kind. Perhaps a dolop of sour cream. A few chives if feeling fancy. My old cantor used to love creamed herring with pickled onions on chunks of challah. If you go the herring route and it's not Holland Herring season, I fully endorse this approach. But don't sleep on the Holland Herring. Get one. Eat it on the bench outside or bring it across the street and eat it standing up in the park. I heard rumor that once upon a time folks would eat them right at the counter. That seems a little messy for my taste, but far be it from me to keep a herring lover from their delightful fishy morsels.

They clearly prioritize hygiene here. The interior is so spotless that it is pitiful!…read more On 6/20/26, I purchased food that I cannot get anywhere else: smoked trout mousse (relatively low in sodium), authentic pumpernickel bread (recommended for its comparatively low glycemic index), and in-house smoked Gaspe smoked salmon (relatively low in sodium). Everything tasted phenomenally good. Miguel had given me samples of some food so I could make a decision about what to purchase. This place is not the cheapest, but you're paying for top quality. You can't go wrong here. My customer experience was exceptional.
