My favorite bagels! I've been eating them for three-and-a-half decades. When Benny moved his shop from Norwalk I just drove farther. Now, I buy two dozen at a time and freeze them. They last me a couple months but lately my kids have developed a taste for them so I may have to buy more. They have a shiny, chewy crust to them. Some, who I believe are just used to grocery store bagels, find them to be too chewy. Not me. The extra chew allows me to savor the delicious flavor a little longer! I'm a purist: plain, toasted, with a little butter. Sometimes a touch of raspberry jam also. I love these bagels! The staff is always friendly and efficient. Egg & Cheese on a bagel = the best breakfast ever. I have not gotten anything else at Bagel King, mostly because I don't ever want to. The E&C is cooked fresh - they crack an egg on a griddle, stir it around a little bit (no sunny side up here), let it cook, slice of cheese on a bagel and voila...amazingness. Its in a big shopping center with Trader Joes. They also have another location on the Post Road in the Brick Walk Shopping Center which is usually a little less crowded but they can run out of bagels a lot quicker because its a secondary location that gets their bagels from the main one. read more

Came in here looking for an everything bagel, they were out but I substituted with onion. The bagel was fine nothing special, but I didn't taste the onion flavor at all. I'm pretty sure I was given a different bagel, but it was still good. They give a healthy amount of cream cheese (too much for me, but more is better than not enough). The one thing I must say is that the store had an overwhelming nail polish smell, I know there is a salon next store but it was it was too strong. read more

The Best Bagels. When I am stuck eating a bagel from anywhere else, I am always disappointed. I love the crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside bagel that they make. Some of the recent employees have a bad habit of not washing their hands or wearing gloves right before and while preparing the food. This had happened to me 2 times before I decided to finally say something. While a much older woman grabbed my bagel with her bare hands I asked politely if she could put on gloves and she just rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath. Another time two of the employees were having a full blown conversation in my face while I was waiting a good minute to order and then tried to say it was about store business as if I and everyone else around couldn't hear what they were talking about. This place has been part of my life since I was about 3 years old. I used to take weekend trips with my grandmother here to get breakfast and man, this place is the perfect bagel place. It's just like New York, only closer !!!!! The bagels are TRUE boiled bagels, hard and smooth on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Their cream cheese is home made and OHHHHHH MAANNNN it's a m a z i n g. It's so creamy and thick and wonderful, even the lox is fresh and just the right amount of salty. The pastries are always delicious, the blueberry muffins are a personal favorite, the berries are at the bottom and the texture of the muffin is a bit like corn muffins. Sooo good. read more

This is my go to bagel place in Fairfield. I'm a big Brooklyn Bagel (in Chelsea and Astoria) fan. These are the closest I have found in the Fairfield area. The bagels are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The everything bagel tends to run out, so sometimes you may have to wait a bit for a fresh batch. Two stars specifically for the sanitary aspect of the place. Bagels were grabbed with tissues, but then were touched with bare hands when putting into the slicer, and spreading on cream cheese. The same employees handling your food run back and forth to the register without any sign of gloves. It's a shame, because the bagel was delicious.. Crispy and flaky and very generous amounts of cream cheese. Coffee selection was limited, and credit cards only accepted for $10 or more. My best suggestion would be to grab bagels by the dozen and toast them at home. read more

Only been there once and definitely a very busy place. Tried a couple of different bagels and some of the smaller size ones too. Got a couple of croissants and I have to say. Having lived in New York these are as authentic and tasty bagels as they get. Took some of the cream cheeses home too and were unbelievable good. One of the worst lunch experiences I have had. I ordered a roast beef sandwich on a hard roll. I neglected to say anything after receiving the incorrect amount of change (it was only a dollar short) and sat down to enjoy my lunch. Before I even took a bite of the sandwich, the sour spoiled smell from the meat hit my nose. After opening the sandwich And finding spots of mold on the meat, I went right to the cashier and asked for a refund. He was only able to give me a gift card or an exchange. Nothing in the area compares to Bagel King - try the everything bagel (my weakness). Amazing homemade cream cheese. They also do lunch, and their chicken salad is fantastic you can buy it as a bagel sandwich or in a 1/2 lb container!. Try it - they will win you over. read more

They do not know how to toast a bagel here...they BURN them. Lady gave me attitude at the counter when I said I could not eat them because they were too hard. Undersized and irregular shaped bagels obviously made by kids that just don't care. Flavor very ho hum. I mean seriously... who screws up an everything bagel. Fancy bagels is way better. In fact, for our money, several of the local grocery stores have better bagels. The positive reviews here are either from people who don't get out much or Bagel King staff and owners.
