It is very confusing when you walk in. Are there multiple lines. Or are customers being waited on at the counter. We took cream cheese and whitefish salad from the refrigerator. I was really pumped when I read the reviews and even more so when I got there for the first time on a Saturday morning and saw the line out the door! Inside was all abuzz with just the right amount of chaos to make it exciting. So, when it was my turn I ordered a bakers dozen -- 7 everything and 6 mixed. When I opened that nice white paper bag and stuck my nose inside it was heaven..... However, after all that, I was underwhelmed, bordering on disappointment. The bagels seemed undercooked, doughy and without much flavor...like biting into a big wad of dough. So, not sure what to make of the hype. Great local, no frills bagel shop. Easy to tell that it is a favorite local establishment. My bacon egg and cheese with avocado revived me after a long night out. It held up great in the to go packaging. I ordered it lightly toasted and it was still warm when I went to eat it about an hour later. read more

So this is one of those hole in the wall places that relies more on the neighborhood than Yelp reviews. It's been around forever and along with its sister place in Stamford, knows how to put out bagels. They aren't going to change their formula based on. Yelp review. There's nothing to the interior. No real sitting. No bathrooms. Just a counter and lots of bagels and drinks. So are the bagels good? Yes. They are more like the NY style. Thick and hearty. My everything bagel was a little too heavy on the salt for me. Felt more like a pretzel. But the cream cheese helping was generous and darned if I didn't enjoy the whole thing. Price is reasonable too. I wouldn't drive across the state for these but a very good local place with no nonsense service and good bagels is a place that most towns would love having. read more

If you're lucky you may get nice chunks of salmon in the smoked salmon cream cheese. The other half of the time it's smaller pieces but never is it ground up for color smoked salmon. The bagel is lovely as well. read more

Disappointing. Came in on a Sunday. Store wasn't too busy. Waited about 15 minutes for two cold sandwiches. Lox bagel and Italian sandwich. Bagels were chewy but not in a good way, thinking they were actually stale. They also messed up our order and swapped the bagels. Everything bagel is way too salty and the plain bagels are just too thin and not airy enough. Over all bagels were 1/5 but the staff was nice so 2/5 total rating. read more

When I moved up from New York City I was trying to find a great bagel place local to me and I've found it in LizSue Bagels. They have two locations; Stamford and Norwalk. Both all good, but something about the Norwalk location is just better to me. So I travel a little further for my bagel fix almost week. My first time coming I was 5-10 mins after closing and they gave me a variety bag of bagels to try. After that moment I fell in love and have been coming ever since. The staff is usually friendly but busy, the wait times can be long so you might want to call ahead on weekends. They have a huge variety of bagels also. Onions, rainbow, egg, everything, pumpernickel. Just to name a few. They are always perfectly toasted if that is what you want. I normally will order ham egg and cheese on some type of bagel or chives cream cheese on some type of bagel. Whatever I'm in the mood for that week. But you can make some pretty interesting combinations with what they have available. If you in the lower Fairfield ct area I highly recommend you check them out. As a Stamford native and lifelong Liz Sue customer (Stamford location), I have not one negative thing to say about their bagels. Hands down, they are amazing. HOWEVER, my review is based on how the store is run on busy mornings. This morning, I went decided to stop at the Norwalk location. There is no obvious line of "Order Here" and "Pick Up Here". Its just a mismosh of people, mostly blue collar men. I approach the counter to place my order and this young man starts yelling at me that I cut him in line. I tell him I didn't and he says "oh yes you did" and carries on being a rude POS. For reference, I am half his size and an obvious cancer patient. This unpleasant exchange could've been avoided if Liz Sue would simply invest in some signs that distinguish which line is for what. As much as I enjoy their bagels, I won't be coming back for this reason. I have too much going on in my life to be yelled at by some little jerk that could be my kid. read more

Worth sharing my secret?? Hmmm, I don 't know, but food is happiness, happiness should be shared, so food should be shared. I have been going to Liz Sue as part of my morning routine now since 2013. I have had the opportunity to get to know the owners and some of the employees. The bagels are the best around, and so is the customer service. If you go during prime time (typically anytime after 0700 until about 0900 in the morning), you may expect a line out the door, especially now during the #covid19season of life we all currently live with. But the wait is worth it. Bagels, breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches, pizza, cinnamon rolls, muffins, man, the list goes on and on. But it is definitely the best around to be had. Really delicious bagels!!!! So fresh. Also really enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches. Did a big order on a weekday and they were able to have 25 egg sandwiches ready for when I needed them- in about 1.5 hours (called ahead). They also took the time to label all the individually wrapped sandwiches which was really appreciated. The staff is hard working and friendly. Liz Sue II is one of those great little places that is tucked away and if you don't already know about it, chances are you wont stumble upon it on your own. I almost don't want to write this review because this place is already packed all the time. Moving to fairfield county from long island made us realize that bagels were pretty hopeless in ct, until we found this (and liz sue in stamford) .. i think they are the best bagels north of H&H. In Norwalk, they do great eggs on the flat top griddle - no microwave. They also make this totally unique Bagel Pizza - not just some tomato sauce and cheese on a little round bagel - they do it BIG - they make a whole big pizza pie from bagel dough and top it with some good quality sauce and cheese and its unlike any other pizza you will have. The coffee is good here too, and they have all sorts of cream cheese in the fridges if you are getting a bakers dozen to go .. for me nothing can beat a scrambled egg and cheese on a toasted everything from Liz Sue II. The staff at Liz Sue II is super nice and its been pretty much the same crew for as long as i can remember. i don't know the whole story behind the place, but i think its all family run - one brother at liz sue in stamford and one here. read more

Stopped in on the way to Boston and my bagel and daughter's bagel were inedible! Bagels were okay but we got butter and it was definitely NOT butter - it tasted more like lard or some unknown artificial crap. We wound up throwing them away. Surprised to see the lukewarm reviews for these bagels. They're pretty on-point Ny style bagels - the right chew on the inside, nice and toasty (if you request it) on the outside, and yes they slather on too much cream cheese. On that point I wish they had more cream cheese selection - esp on the low fat side. All I had available was low fat veggie or scallion. They had my favorite whole wheat everything but you had to ask for it; I guess they only had a little bit left. They also scooped it out for me as per my usual request and thought it was still very delicious. My husband got the same whole wheat everything with bacon egg and cheese. the service was polite and fast. The only bad thing is you pay when you leave which is kind of counter intuitive and a bottleneck since it seems some people do this or some people pay when they receive their order. They should just ring you up when you order. read more

Bagel tastes like something you get in the grocery freezer. 3 people in line, one kid working that looked like he was 15 - two other girls standing asking if people have been helped (the young kid took all our orders) and then they stood there chatting. You would think they would help with the orders. 10 minute wait for a less than mediocre bagel. Paulies Deli on Main Ave is the only go to Bagel place for me from now on.
