I've been to the Riverhead location a few times.. The first time, I ordered toasted a plain bagel with cream cheese and got maybe like half of an ounce of cream cheese spread on the entire bagel. This morning I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. when i opened the bag after I left, the bagel was not toasted at all. Ummmmmm NO!!!! I do have my go to bagel place but was on my was to my favorite coffee house and saw this cute place and wanted to give it a try. Looked at the reviews and decided to give it a go. Well........I walk in standee on line for 30 seconds when I get this stare behind the counter like I was bothering her. Mind you hard to hear over the glass counter I gave her my order and I thought she said say it again when I guess she said anything else???? Because when I gave my order a again she gave me this look like I was an idiot! Bagel was ok and cream cheese was good but seriously people WTF???? Reviews say customer service is great and beloved it for a split second. Maybe she was having a bad day and I get that but holy crap!!!! Never again. I got a sundries tomato bagel and it was delicious! I wish I had gotten jr with cream cheese on the side, it was too much for my likings...but the cream cheese is good too! It's a great bagel place. I used to come here all the time when I was still in high school, and my memory of it being great was spot on. Spending about 5 bucks on a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is relatively cheap, and it tastes really good as well. If you get one, make sure to ask about getting a free small coffee or juice. I missed coming here often, so I'll be sure to visit as much as I can. read more

The bagels are great here!!! I love their homemade flavored cream cheese especially the vegetable flavor one. The home fries are delicious. I'm obsessed with their whole wheat wrap with bacon egg and cheese. The pancakes with bacon is great too. Great place the only down side organization on taking the orders could be better. read more

Absolutely horrible. I waited over ten minutes for an order and had to ask if my order was ready. I asked them if they toasted the bagel and they said no, she did not write that. The woman was extremely rude and said we are busy, it's Sunday. I said I have had many jobs working on weekends and that was never the answer I gave nor with a horrible attitude. There was a man there who was very nice. The bagel was doughy and disgusting. Bad coffee. I asked for a refund it was that bad. Another place gone down hill from COVID and horrible staff. I don't live in Riverhead anymore but I occasionally stop by for an egg sandwich when I'm out there because I enjoy their bagels. The only thing that really bothers me is I've been given the wrong change back twice! Once with a $50 bill where I received change for a $20 bill and today with a $20 bill I received change for a $10 bill. The first time I noticed right away but this second time I didn't realize until I was home which is about an hour away. I worked there for three years, and they DO put salt on the everything bagels, they'll even make some especially for you with extra if you call them in the morning and give them an hour or two notice. If you call them a day or two before they can make ANY kind you want! I used to have them make me multigrain everything bagels! The parking shouldnt be a problem in their new location on osbourne, the main street location had parking in the front and back! Be grateful, there are NO bagel shops in North Carolina! read more

I was disgusted by the way they handle food, money and everything else in between- with the same gloves on. It doesn't matter if there is no law stating it's mandatory to change gloves if your employees touch money, management should make it mandatory in order to provide clean service for your customers. I was told by the employee as I complained about this that customers have to request for the gloves to be changed because money doesn't carry anything into the food LOL how sad is that. It may not transfer food borne illness but it sure does carry germs. I waited 10 minutes for the sandwiches and as I waited I watched as the employee handles money, stocked supplies, took gum from her mouth and threw it away, and scratched her nose all with the SAME gloves on as she causally helped another customer with bagels .. have some decent consideration for people's food if you are running a food business. I tend to judge bagel places by what I call the Zip-Hoodie factor. If you see a place crammed with tradesmen, you know, the folks in jeans, boots and zip hoodies - construction, plumbing, electric, roofing, landscaping etc. - in to get their morning breakfast & coffee or their lunch, you know you have the real deal. Bagel Lovers is the real deal. They are insanely busy, so call ahead to avoid a wait. They cover all the basics; a nice selection of bagels, generous deli sandwiches and delicious breakfast. They even have healthy alternatives on the menu, and they don't suck. Cold weather means hearty soups. Yum. Now the good and the bad: Parking is hard to come by during rush. Not only is it scarce, you will occasionally get people driving against the flow to get out on Osborne. Tradesmen mean that sometimes you'll have to try to get around company trucks. Slow down and be aware. You'll have to be careful because you are in a school zone and students love to come here too. Students show up in waves during the lunch periods at the High School. If you come by and there are teenagers all over, you are going to have a wait. The only thing I would really change is to use the side window for pick up orders. It is a little tight and sometimes the pick up people get lost among those waiting in line. The staff at Bagel Lovers is superior. They are quick, friendly, and accommodating. The prices are reasonable and the food worth both the price and any wait you might have. read more
