Poor business practices. Yes they are extremely busy in the summer and therefore will put their answer machine on if you call. But what happens when you call and they haven't put the service on? I'll tell you- what happens is an employee answers the phone with no greeting, and places it on the counter, then goes back to helping those in the store. They expect you to hang up. I thought I'd stay on the phone until someone answered. 6 minutes in, someone picks up the phone and hangs up. Never speaks to the customer they've now had on hold for 6 minutes. Never had any intention of helping that customer. I've left a previous review about their phone etiquette. Safe to say it's still horrible, and no one cares. read more

Stopped here on our way home from Montauk and literally had the best bagel of my life. I'm still thinking about it. I got an everything bagel with egg and cheese and my husband got an everything bagel with hummus. They were very busy as it was a Saturday morning and there was a line out their door but it moved quickly and the staff were all friendly. One super sweet lady even gave my son a free mini bagel and said it's a traditional started by their owner. Great vibes and overall value. Welcome to bagel heaven. Knowing I was going to Montauck, I had already sketched out where to find a decent bagel. We first stopped on Rt. 27 outside of Montauck for a bagel for lunch. Yes, you can get your bagel with just about anything on it. They do not disappoint. Goldberg's also has a deli option that if you want your bagel to be a sandwich, you can get Boar's Head meats or a breakfast option on your bagel or flagel. Maybe next time. We both had a toasted everything bagel. His had a bagel with lox cream cheese; I had the everything with a bacon cream cheese. Came here for a slightly late breakfast on a Sunday morning and people were coming and going like clockwork, and after having tried it, I can see why. My girlfriend had hyped this place up to me for quite awhile and being a former western LIer, we had no Goldbergs near us, but my bagel opinions are certainly still a high benchmark. We both got the spicy hobo, a bagel sandwich with eggs, bacon, cheese and hot sauce on your bagel of choice (I went pumpernickel) and a large hot coffee. The sandwich was delicious and even in the slightly later hour, the bagel was fresh as could be, where I've been to plenty of other places around where you'd be getting slim pickings for a good one. Coffee was surprisingly good too, normally I'd just expect your run of the mill drip coffee, but their blend was flavorful and perfectly hot, an unexpected boon for these guys. The staff were quick and kind and made sure to keep things moving without being rude, a rare combination I find. The place is on the smaller side with only a few tables if you don't want to try and eat in, so be aware. Plenty of parking right in front with the shared lot. read more

They screw up the orders constantly. Check your order before you leave the store. I asked for a seedless roll and I got poppy. I am allergic to poppyseeds assholes. If you order more than one sandwich, they don't mark the wrapper. So it's a surprise which sandwich is which. Once you ask for something lightly toasted I think this upsets them because it is always over toasted which is their way of getting a laugh I guess. Why isn't there a manager? Lousy service. They need to pony up and pay their workers a living wage, and then maybe they could attract decent employees. The bagels are consistently good. Taste and texture are of a high-quality. Overall, not a good value for what you're paying for, I would say it's not worth going out of your way. Quality is fine, but the prices seem wholly made up. I ordered a $7 sandwich and a $4 drink and my bill was $21. When I called them out on it they gave me several dollar bills back, no apology. I've had similar issues at other Goldberg's where if, for example, I ask for capers on my bagel with salmon, the price suddenly goes from $14 to $17.
