Not sure if I would call this a hidden gem. It is a very small bagel shop in a strip mall located off the side of Rt. 112. The longish sort of line seemed promising, but the hold up wasn't because everyone needed a bagel from here, it was only because of a discrepancy of some sort. The staff was hustling, and eggs were being flipped right behind the counter and everything looked like it was kept clean. The service is a bit subpar. I was skipped over, which seemed to be an honest mistake so I didn't fuss. More pissed at the dude that speak up to say I was next. I guess chivalry is dying. The bagel itself was also subpar. I ordered an everything flagel with olive cream cheese. It wasn't bad by any means it just wasn't anything special. The star of the show was the cream cheese. Wasn't too olivey and you can tell it was pretty fresh. Nothing was labeled so I couldn't tell you what other cream cheeses they had. The menu was digital and was hung on the wall behind the counter. It didn't have much besides the list of bagels and before I could try to read more it would flash off. This place is fine in a pinch, but I'm not running back any time soon. read more

You can see my prior 5 star review of this place; for the last 36 years of my life I considered myself lucky to grow up around the corner from the bagel patch. This spot had the absolute best bagels... EVER... better bagels even than from NYC (where I now live) but when visiting a couple months ago I found out they sold... I was hesitant, but was told buy an older fella in line they were still good don't freak out- They were, but not anymore. Now these bagels are gummy, without that beautiful crisp outside, the twist especially was the best twist in the world... it is now a joke, a sad sick joke only the devil could think to play on me and me alone. This is the biggest upset of 2022. I don't know if covid played a part but this is not the first local love it would have claimed and my world is just so tipsy turvey these days... please help, somebody please help; I don't know which way is up! I remember going to this bagel store when I was in High School (back in the '80's). Every time I visit my dad here on Long Island, I stop here to bring a bag of bagels home. The store hasn't changed much. I bought an assortment of bagels to take back to Florida and one to eat now. They have all sorts of bagels and different flavored cream cheese along with self serve coffee & tea. Two thumbs up..... I'll be back next time I'm up this way. read more

I have been going to this bagel store everyday for awhile now. The girls behind the counter Maria , Laurie ,Nelgen and Marrissa are my favorite by far. The guy John who bakes the bagels, can be very rude! Since this outbreak with the CoVid 19, this store is still open and it shouldn't be. The store is so tiny and there is not much room at all, yet they allow workers and the customers to be all together. I went in on Sunday, just to see for my self and I couldn't believe how all these people are compact in one place! I saw the guy John the baker, handling the bagels without gloves, and he was coughing on the bagels. I had to walk out I COULD NOT believe what I was witnessing. I feel like I have seen him in the same clothes for months straight at a time, so gross. And now this CoVid 19 virus bringing everything to a halt, and he is coughing on the food. He shows he don't care. Well I'm gonna miss them wonderful girls. Because I will never go back in that store again! Someone should call someone on them, that store should not be open. They actually have a sign on the door that says "BAGELS ARE Essential" SHAME ON You. Don't walk away from this place... RUN. read more

Tiny, "hole in the wall" joint, but the best bagels I've ever had. I grew up near Bagel Patch and the same guy has been boiling and baking their awesome bagels since I was a kid (I'm now 48). The girls that work there are straight up, direct and pretty quick to take and serve your order. The girls that work there are usually friendly, prompt - but the shortcoming is the occasional lack of interpersonal skills, smiles and common courtesy. Mind you, this is not always or even often, but to be perfectly honest - it happens. If you want a quality NY bagel, a decent cup of coffee and be on your way - Bagel Patch is it! If you are into more frills and want to sit in to eat, then you would be better off trying another location. I stand by my love for the quality of bagels and cream cheeses and other items (such as their whitefish salad, which is "to die for" good) despite the lack of any ambiance, hardly any seating, and the occasional "less then friendly" staff - this place serves the best bagels I've ever had!! read more

Under new ownership and the bagels are no longer good. Bagel Patch was my go-to Bagel place growing up and it has now been reduced to a shadow of its former self. There is nothing special about these bagels anymore. They taste bland. They are cheap on the spread and you now have to make your own coffee or tea. The store has been renovated. Some may see that as a positive, but I liked the "back in time" feel the place had. It had a certain charm to it that is now missing. read more

This bagel place use to be the best around. Since they changed owners the bagels went from $10 a dozen about 4 years ago to $17 and change. The bagels are much smaller ( much smaller)and they don't have the same perfect taste they used to have. Although they are decent and we still get our bagels here. They also got rid of the buy a dozen get 6 free on weekdays. We have been going here for over 30 years , the old owners used to give my son when he was a toddler a free plain mini bagel every weekend with our order , he is now 31 years old, they don't do that anymore for kids anymore either. The bagel twists are fantastic, better than anywhere. Since they run out of them too early EVERY DAY, and turn away so many customers disappointed, why not make more? Also, whitefish and other fish are advertised as "also avail in 1/2, 1lb, 2lb sizes" That implies breakpoint pricing. When someone orders 2 lbs, dont charge them the 1/4 lb rate eight times over. In summary, great food, but they need to anticipate needs better and price the large fish orders fairly. Oy! read more

Ordered 1/2 dozen bagels and cream cheese. I was skeptical because of the reviews and I hadn't experienced what it was like with previous owners. Being disappointed from bagel places often this was surprisingly a good experience. The bagels were fresh, warm, and the perfect texture. Not hard, overly chewy, or lacking any of the NY bagel feel. Cream cheese has also been an issue at other bagel places, where you know they aren't making their own or just don't get that it's supposed to be creamy and fluffy. Bagel Patch is a good place to get fresh bagels in the morning. There are a decent selection. The everything twists are the best. If you get there early in the morning, they are still warm and butter just melts into them. On weekdays, if you buy a dozen you get six additional free. I have not tried their cream cheeses, but there is a variety of them available as well. Also, they do breakfast sandwiches for those on the go. As far as service, they are very quick and get you in and out in a reasonable amount of time. For anybody trying to find the place, it is set back from Route 112 in a strip just south of Woodside Avenue. If you pass 7-11, you've gone too far! I recommend giving them a try. read more

I stopped here after finding a review on yelp. This little bagel store is tucked away in a strip shopping center on the side. The storefront does not face 112. So just take a second to look for it. They are actually boiling the bagels. Mine was quite tasty and the staff was friendly. I got a bagel, whole wheat with cream cheese and it just hit the spot. Excellent bagels and cream cheese but I went in there 15 minutes prior to closing and it looked completely shut down. There were no bagels in the shelves and all of the cream cheese was covered up. She called from the back the 4 types of bagels that she had. When I asked for a specific one she said hold on, then walked around to the tables reached into a bag and pulled out the type of bagel I wanted. So she packed a bag of the good bagels for herself??? What about your customers? Shouldn't you be open until 3pm then shut down? The other girl just sat in the corner behind the counter talking to someone on the other side of the counter as if she was not interested in working anymore. As we walked out, still prior to closing time of 3pm there were several people walking in which I would assume would have the same experience as I would. Love the bagels and anytime I come into town I stop here but not keen on the service. The girl that helped us kept mumbling and I couldn't understand anything. Would be no stars. These are not bagels. They are round bread. And bad round bread at that. I don't understand why they are so busy, especially at their prices. I don't understand why the Bagel Patch doesn't have 5-stars!! I've been going to Bagel Patch ever since the doors opened in the late 80's. My children and now my grandchildren love their bagels. Not just their bagels but specifically the "twists." When we moved to Virginia in the early nineties the Bagel Patch was our very first stop when visiting my parents in Bellport. It was also our last stop (usually before they opened - thanks for accommodating us!) on our way home. We would bring three dozen, hot out of the oven, twists back to Virginia to be frozen immediately and consumed over the next week or so. Even after being frozen they were amazing. Now we live in South Korea and yes, my wife was able to bring back a dozen then immediately frozen and yes, still amazing. Whenever we visit my Mom in Bellport it's still the first stop!! Tried this place twice and both times wasn't happy. First time was told they don't have rolls and don't make egg sandwiches with meat, they're kosher. Ok, fine. Second time I went, I ordered a pound of cream cheese under the assumption that I'd pay for half pound, get half pound free like their sign advertises. Buy any amount of cream cheese and get equal amount free. I was told they only do that for their 1/4 pounds. Respectfully I told her that's not what their sign said and she kept arguing with me. I said ma'am please turn around and look up and read the sign yourself. She refused to look at it and said oh sign must be wrong, we'll have to change it. WHAT??? I was done with talking to a wall so paid for what I had and walked out. In the parking lot, a gentleman who was on line behind me came over and said "You're right. They're wrong and should've given you the correct order like you asked. But don't bother gong back in and arguing with them. They don't get it and it's not worth it." Guys - your bagels are not THAT good to deal with the crap I had to deal with. I happened to be at my favorite bakery next door to you and went in your store by default. Never again. Infuriating. Slow. Unpleasant. Just a few words to describe this location. At 6:30am they are out of most of their bagels and when you want cinnamon raisin or twist they charge you extra. I ordered 2 dozen bagels and had barely any options. Least they could do what supplement in the other options at no cost.
