Over priced ordered a?lox?and creamxheese with onion, I was charged for the sliced onion. 95 cents for a?couple of pieces of onion. Not even a?whole slice of onion . We used to LOVE coming here but after the experience I had on Sunday (Mother's Day) I'm not so keen on returning. Friday I planned ahead because of Mother's Day...We were doing a brunch and I made sure to place my order in advance (1st time I ever used their online order system) because I wanted to ensure I got my bagels. I ordered 2 days in advance for pick up in the Valatie location. Fast forward to Sunday.. Its busy and smokey in the shop as always.. I waited until the kid at the counter said "next" so I told him I am picking up an online order. He looked at me, said nothing, walked away and never came back. I waited again... a girl now asks me if she can help me... I tell her I placed an online order and I'm picking up. She asked me the name and tells me they DO NOT have my order. She begins to ask me if I placed it at a different location and to see my confirmation.. so I go out to my car and grab my phone... proceed to wait again until she got to me.. she looked at the confirmation and goes "oh we've had this happen once". So she now asks me what bagels I want... it's extremely slim pickings at this point and I'm furious. I managed to get 7 plain, the last cinnamon raisin and 2 onion. There was no discount offered, I had to ask if they could give a discount for the inconvenience.. she then had to ask her manager that wanted to see my confirmation, saying "idk give her some extra bagels" in a dismissive manner, and instead of that I was given $2 off my order... The girl was apologetic but the whole demeanor of the staff was poor, they all seemed "off" and honestly the bagels were not as great as they have been in the past. The plain bagels that I ended up with were very airy. Like I said before we used to love coming here but the quality of the food has diminished and the customer service above all has declined. read more

Not thrilled with my experience here today. I asked for a toasted everything bagel, bacon, egg,cheese, salt, pepper and ketchup and you would think that would be an easy thing to make. Well, my bagel wasn't toasted, and they gave me a half slice of bacon... also not to mention, they slapped a piece of cheese that wasn't melted and was not going to melt because the sandwich was cold. I don't know if they had a previous order just sitting there and decided to give me that but it was an awful breakfast. read more

Great place to grab a bagel and coffee. The drive thru is a huge plus. I recommend the French toast bagel with bacon egg & cheese. Staff are friendly and quick. This is a perfect stop on your way to work. Prices are reasonable for a small business. read more

Bagel Type was always a sort of OK place to grab a quick bagel or sandwich. Not for me, not anymore. The staff is not wearing masks and based on my conversation with the manager, I doubt if he is vaccinated. I understand that stores are not requiring customers to wear masks now - unfortunate but the political reality. I can live with that but when it comes to food prep, it's ridiculous not to take this easy precaution. Based on recent science I've seen, Covid, even asymptomatic Covid that appears to have long-term effects on some people, is not a risk I'm willing to take for a bagel - or to enable ignorance in upstate NY. There are a lot of older people around here, and I doubt if the vaccination level in Valatie is high - it's pretty conservative This company is a bad neighbor. There's a much better bakery on Main Street - Filli's - and the staff is wearing masks. Great to have an alternative. I won't go to Bagel Type. Voting with my dollars. read more

I promised myself I would re-visit Bagel Tyme after they move into their new location. I do miss some of the charm they had at their original location in the middle of Kinderhook. I'm sure folks miss not being able to walk there for food and drink. But for me, who is more likely to be traveling through, the new location is convenient. I'm fine with the compensation of a larger dining space, reasonably comfortable seating with large tables, and large, clean rest rooms. And of course, the bagels and coffee. And still - as per my review of the previous locale - everything I said comparing Bagel Tyme to Dunkin on the north side of Valatie still applies. For not a significant difference in price I definitely prefer a non-industrial bagel sandwich on a non-industrial bagel, made by someone with whom I can have a friendly chat while ordering. And the new location is no less convenient than the Dunkin in the traffic circle vortex. read more

Yummy bagels for upstate. We are Long Islanders and used to a certain type of bagel. Bagel Tyme did not disappoint.

In my opinion (I've worked in customer service for 11 years), if your business closes at 3pm and a customer arrives a few minutes prior to closing, the employee should make what the customer orders even if she has cleaned the station and decided to turn off the machines early. This should also be done with a smile and lack of attitude. I understand it's a pain in the ass. I'm sure you've had a long shift and you want to go home. You probably hate me for coming in to your establishment close to closing time, but technically you are still open. I totally understand wanting to have the establishment and machines cleaned and turned off so that when the clock strikes 3 you can run right out of there. I used to do the same thing at previous jobs, but if a customer came in and ordered something prior to closing that involved one of those machines, I had to make it. You can only hope and pray that once you're done cleaning and packing away everything that another customer will not walk through that door, but if they do you must serve them. Also, if you have a machine that once turned on needs time to boot up, that machine should not even be turned off until you are actually closed. Today I choose to patronize Bagel Tyme because I've been a loyal customer for well over 10 years. I don't want to give my business to the new bagel shop that is in your old location (I've actually been boycotting them), but today I did. I love Bagel Tyme bagels and honestly haven't found a place anywhere else that even comes close to the delicious bagels or the hospitality of JoAnn and Toni. Thank you ladies :) Normally, I would have given Bagel Tyme 5 stars, but I just had to give less due to today's incident. read more

Up at 5AM last Sunday drove to bagel tyme for 1/2 doz bagels.Two seseme,two poppy and two everything.bagels were great.I detected that he must now be boiling them as my bagels were chewy that ever before.The Honey Walnut crème cheese is fantastic w fresh hot bagels. read more

We've come here several times in the past year ordering sandwiches, bagels and other treats. Always great service and food.

Apparently they are still steaming their bagels instead of boiling them. My understanding is steaming results in a puffier, softer inside, more like a bread roll, definitely different than a chewier, denser boiled bagel. They also apparently do not use barley malt syrup, a traditional ingredient that makes such a difference in flavor. It will be interesting to see how they fare with the competition -- a new bagel shop is apparently open in their previous Broad Street, Kinderhook location; and the Hannaford market not far up Route 9 is "importing" bagels from a Saugerties (Ulster County) bagel bakery. read more
