OK, so we went to the Green Market in Schenectady in June 2026. We purchased some danish and some sourdough bread and Italian loaf. We brought it home and thought, 'we have found a great bread source'. A few weeks later I went back and bought the same thing, in addition to some brioche buns and everything bagels. Unfortunately, they put the bagels in with the danish - really? When I got the items home, the danish was dry and probably a day+ old, the bagels were sub par. The worst was the loaf of sourdough turned fuzzy in a few days, and we had it in the refrigerator. We will continue our search. read more

I used to love going to our daily bread and once Covid hit, after that they decided not to do table service anymore. You order like you're in a cafeteria at a front counter, one where the customer service people very rarely engage with YOU You have to approach them! It was a tough day for me so I ordered the latkes with eggs over top. And as a special treat some crispy bacon, my friend got a French omelette with some salmon and asparagus. Everything is self service and I know that's not a big deal but I don't know it just is so lackluster as we're preparing our own coffees. They have a selection of house French roast and decaf. I made it 3/4 of the way through filling my cup and the coffee maker kicked the bucket. I yelled over you need more french fries oh yeah, we'll get to that. I kind of wanted us both to have French roast at that moment and by the time we left, no one had made any. Now to add insult to injury The half dressed cashier comes over and says oh we're out a lot and you'll have to order something else. Now how does this work? We already paid $49 for our breakfast and gave her 20% tip why I'm tipping when they are serving cafeteria style is beyond me. We find a table out side and I decided instead of the latkes to serve the breakfast over home fries but still have the caramelized onions and Gruyere has the breakfast arrived. My friend ordered a French omelette with salmon and asparagus. It was completely brown on the outside. I don't know if you're a foodie like I am, but there isn't supposed to be a speck of brown traditional French omelette. Turn your heat down chef, add a little bit more butter! Now my Sunnyside eggs were completely brown on the outside, it looked like as if they have been soaking in a VAT of grease yet the yolks were still nice and runny. They were served over cooked home fries, caramelized onions, and Gruyere cheese, which was very skimpy almost nonexistent At the bottom of the plate, there was about a good quarter inch layer of grease and oil, just unsavory. The home fries were really overdone and when our food came, we had to go and get our own condiments from across the patio. Why did we tip these people if they can't do these things for us and there's signs for us to clear our tables and bring them to bus pans inside. Are you kidding me $50 for breakfast? All we had was coffee and eggs oh I had bacon two overcooked pieces that were like a dog chewy for six dollars. and now my last great is everyone had a dog with them yes we were outside, but you had to go through the establishment where the food is being prepped and kept with this animal. Aren't there rules with the Department of Health against this? now I have three lovely cats. I would never stuffed them on a leash and bring them to brunch. It was disgusting. I hardly ate my food and I ignored the woman when she came over to talk to me *how's your food?* If you can't take a look at the plate that you're serving before you send it out and see that there's something wrong with it like it's swimming in. oil.you overcook the eggs and undercooked them. You decimated the thick cut, sliced bacon.and you Don't bother bother to make a second pot of french roast coffee and bring us a cup. Just lackluster iand subpar service both from front and back of the house. I was a chef in a previous life. I would never have served anything like this to any client I didn't bother taking pictures. I was just thoroughly disgusted. I feel like I'm owed that hour and a half of my life back. And I'd like my $50 back and the 20% tip because no one did anything for us. Friends had the breakfast sandwich and loved the caramelized onions. My other friend had a breakfast burrito- a solid go to, he said the chipotle sauce was excellent addition. I chose the breakfast sabih with poached eggs. Wow!!!! The complexity of both flavor and texture was fantastic! Crunchy cucumber and creamy hummus with sweet mango and spicy notes. Must have been a real off day this past Tuesday 7/15. Ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs. When it came it was more liked fried potatoes with onions and very few pieces of corned beef. The eggs looked like golf balls and were more like hard boiled without the shells. Was very disappointed with the whole meal including the cappuccino. The only decent item was the small piece of biscotti served with the cappuccino. I will not go back here and will not recommend it to my friends. Also service was so-so. read more

So disappointed with my last experience here. Have been coming here for over a decade and have even used them for catering but sadly I don't think I will be returning. First off, the lights were off in the dining room which was odd. Then we were greeted by flies and the tables were super sticky and not wiped down. You have to bus your own tables here which is fine, but at least have some one come wipe down the tables. I think had the most tasteless matzoh ball soup in my life and had to send it back. It was luke warm and the matzoh balls tasted like cement. The Greek salad came with a small plastic cup of vinegar as the dressing. For $13 I would have expected a bit more. Our meal here was overall pretty great. While I was not personally a big fan of their shakshuka (was a bit overly salty for me), the falafel sandwich was absolutely delicious. I asked to have it prepared with the pita on the side (instead of a sandwich) and they kindly accommodated, which I appreciated. This particular dish was so, so yummy. We used to eat here often but it has gone down significantly. Once we used to compare it to the best delis in NYC but no longer. On one occasion we ordered pastrami hash but it was so over cooked that it was inedible. The next time we ordered the Veggie Omelet which advertised "seasonal vegetables" - it was filled with corn and poblanos. Again, not edible. The problem also is that you need to bus your own tables which is fine, but the kitchen may not realize that people are not finishing their food. Service is friendly and nice and the place is clean, but we miss the good old days where the food was wonderful. read more

I used to love this place. And I think the food and the owners and the staff are usually pretty great. But I just can't order from here anymore. The last seven times I've called, they say "can I put you on hold? I'll get right back to you". And then I wait... and wait... I've hung up after 7 minutes, 11 minutes, one Time was 18 minutes because I was hoping to order a favorite dish for someone who was sick, and they never come back to the phone. If I hang up, the line stays busy. It's always the same woman who does it so I can't stay it's everyone there. Awesome food, the pancakes are super light and fluffy. The Shakshuka was on point, it reminded me of being in Turkey. My sons had the Corn Beef Hash, and the French Toast. It was an all around great breakfast. The waitress, Alyssa was great, she was helpful in deciding what to order and told me the major difference in my choices. We journeyed here mostly to grab lunch with old friends, so I wasn't as aware as I sometimes am when trying something new, as eating well wasn't my priority (maybe because I didn't choose the place). Though, the service was good, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was great. I enjoyed a Mediterranean dish, with hummus, baba gonoush, greek yogurt with mint and olive oil, and a tomato/cucumber salad, all brought together with fresh pita bread. This is one of my favorite types of meals, and just so happens to be vegetarian. It also hits all the major food groups, and Our Daily Bread did it just as well as I would have liked. All the individual components had great flavor, and tasted fresh. When brought together, they harmonized in my mouth, making for an excellent lunch. My only complaint might be that the pita bread was a little under done, but considering this is a rarity (in-house made bread), I can't knock them too hard for a meal that I demolished. I am not sure about the other food, but this was great, and if I were nearby again, I wouldn't count this place out. p.s. the bakery smells delicious, so I assume handmade everything! read more

You can really have three different experiences here, all very good - the bakery, the cafe, and the restaurant. We get our bread here pretty much every weekend we're up; the olive sourdough is the current favorite, although the ciabatta is a close second. It's also a great place to pick up Middle Eastern ingredients - rose water, sumac, ra's al-hanout, shawarma spices, etc. If you want a coffee/espresso/cappuccino or tea and something sweet, this is also a very nice spot. They make pastries, brownies, cakes, tarts, tortes, etc. I've only had a few things on the restaurant menu, but I've been very happy with those. The Middle Eastern Platter is my standard, with hummus, babaganoush, labneh, taboule, and fresh pita. I can't vouch for any of the meat dishes or other sandwiches, but all of the ingredients seem fresh, and friends have always said their food was very good. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. The front dining room is open and bright, and there's a middle-of-the-building space which is not terribly bright but perfectly pleasant. Hopefully they'll open the back deck by next summer. read more

I've been buying bread from Our Daily Bread for a long time, they've moved around the village 3 times, each time expanding their store. Usually I buy their bread at either the Troy or Empire State Plaza farmers markets. Their bread are outstanding, my favorite two are the jalapeno cheddar and the French peasant. Recently I stopped in for lunch at their new location next to Destino's. While we elected to get lunch to go there is a really cute little cafe and some outside seating. The counter where you order seemed extremely disorganized. There was one woman with an accent who was pretty rude to the rest of the staff but everyone else was really nice. My husband ordered a roast beef sandwich and I got a falafel wrap. His sandwich came with about a half a pound of meat, fresh lettuce and local tomatoes. I assumed he loved it because he finished it off quickly. My falafel was outstanding, the flat bread was tasty, falafels were great and the Yemeni hot sauce was delicious. I definitely will be back for lunch (after it's too cold for Destino's taco cart). read more

Tried the special, the brisket Reuben, and it was DELICIOUS. Two points made it doesn't from what I'm used to as a Reuben - not corned beef, not pastrami, but actual brisket (though lightly seasoned) made it taste more like a hot roast beef sandwich than a Reuben. There were added onions (another point towards hot roast beef), and very little Russian/Thousand Island dressing. Yet with no gravy, it's not a hot roast beef either. So I struggle in calling it a Reuben, yet as a sandwich, it was really quite tasty, so I can't discount it altogether. (And they served it with a really tasty dill pickle!) Grabbed some tabbouleh (there's a small selection of middle Eastern fare), an iced chai, and a blueberry muffin to go - so it was overall, a pleasant experience, and next time, I'll have to try eating in the actual cafe. read more

My love affair with Our Daily Bread's brownies continues almost 20 years later! I grew up in Chatham and remember their first location and loving the brownies. They are so rich and dense. I have not live in Chatham for years but whenever I go visit, I stop in and get some. I was in town for Thanksgiving so I had to stop and get my bakery fix! First, let me note that they moved and the place has an awesome feel.(I only went in the bakery, I did not go in the dining area). The menu looked really good-a deli type menu with sandwiches and soups, etc... I only purchased some baked goods to go. I got some Brownies, which at $4.50 each (I think, if not they were $4) is pretty steep. Mind you, they are a decent size and so good. They used to be bigger. I honestly think that it tastes just like flourless chocolate cake. They keep them in a cooler, if you leave them out they are heavenly to eat at room temp but you definitely need a fork. I also got some chocolate chip cookies, they were just ok. I would not get them again. I got some Ginger/molasses cookies ( I forget exactly what they call them there) those were pretty good. They had some cookies by the pound and I got some of those-they were good as well. I had a pecan bar and those were really good! I grabbed a whole wheat baguette and that was good and reasonably priced. The only non-repeat item on a return visit would probably be the chocolate chip cookies. The reason that I only give it 4 stars is that the service was not terrible but not great either. The young man that initially helped me had very little knowledge. He did not know what many items were or what their price was and was having to run and ask someone (maybe the mgr or owner?). Possibly he was a recent hire. The man who he was running to and asking ended up coming over as well. He was more knowledgeable and very friendly. Though he still could not tell me what some of the cookies were that are bought by weight, that is why I can't be more specific when describing them. There was one that was awesome that had almonds. I also think for Chatham, NY, the prices were a bit steep. The pricing to me seemed more like prices that you would pay in a more metropolitan area. If you love super rich, dense brownies and/or flourless choc cake, this is a must try if you are in the area. If you get only one thing, that would be my suggestion. read more
