As you will see in nearly all other reviews, the customer service here is subpar, UNLESS you know how to order. I used to tell my friends to expect rudeness and coach them on how to order because they are very specific. But! As my 5 star review reflects, I love this place. My partner and I don't ask if we want to get Bagel Zone, but ask "you want MBL?" for Mean Bagel Lady. That's just how it is , she's rude but has great bagels‍ the sandwiches hit the spot and it's the best (only?) quick bagel sandwiches around that aren't Dunkin or Starbucks. Some things to note! -can't go wrong with a classic BEC. If you don't know what BEC means-- Sorry plz get up to my breakfast sandwich standards. -I like mine on a rainbow bagel...slightly chewier than plain bagel and it's fun to see what colors they are. Sometimes it's horrendous green that is unappetizing to most but I love it. MBL will get excited at the pattern when she cuts them open and it's great. -in the fall she makes homemade apple pie cream cheese that is the most amazing flavor you will ever taste. Limited quantities so get it while you can. I missed it this fall completely -you absolutely cannot get both cream cheese and an egg on the bagels. Don't ask. -you also can't walk in and buy a half dozen or dozen bagels on most days cuz they need them for the sandwiches?? Idk just call ahead the day before if you want em. -during all of covid they didn't wear masks at all even when it was full on mandated here!! And now suddenly they are wearing masks and have signs posted all over and won't serve you if you aren't masked when the guidelines are gone. It makes no sense but oh well. -MBL has been quite chipper lately! Every time I have been in there lately she is so happy and hasn't been rude (except to the frat star who kept approaching the counter after the two workers said "you need a mask" about 5x). Not sure what's changed but she has been so nice. Sadly the complex is being bought out so they are either moving or closing down for good. I normally don't write reviews but when I went inside, the lady had so much attitude. We haven't been there before yet so we didn't know what we wanted. We were looking at the menu and she kept rushing us within the first minute of looking. (There was 7 of us btw and no one else was there). The lady also gave so much attitude to me when I asked if she could list the coffee flavors when there weren't any listed. She rolled her eyes and scoffed. The bagels and breakfast sandwiches are good but the service is definitely a hit or miss. My sandwiches are usually pretty oily and greasy, but the ingredients are fresh and the bagels aren't as doughy as traditional ones. The woman behind the counter is usually pretty rude so I typically expect it before I go in. The layout is also kind of weird, the bagels aren't facing outward so it's hard to see, and the woman gets mad when you ask if they have a certain bagel. I basically only come here because it's the only decent "traditional" bagel place that is within a 5 minute drive of the Storrs campus. read more

Hands down the best bagels in storrs, CT. I usually get the egg onion bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, along with a hash brown! They crack the egg right in front of you to put on the bagel. Their spicy ketchup is what completes the breakfast! It is so good.The past times I have gone there, there hasn't really been much of a crowd, they make the breakfast sandwiches at a reasonable pace. I have heard that it gets VERY busy on the weekends and that the line is out the door so i suggest going on a weekday! They have a great selection of different kinds of bagels. So far I have tried egg onion, everything onion, everything, and plain onion. ALL are good :) There is a credit card limit of $5.00. There have been a few incidents with the woman who works there. Since I started going there, I decided it was worth it to put up with the poor service and atmosphere in exchange for a quiet spot to get some work done. She always seems annoyed when customers are just trying to grab a bite to eat and support their small business. Everyone I have spoken to can testify to similar experiences as well. Went in today with two friends and we ordered food to eat in. I set up my laptop as I was getting ready to work. I have so many memories coming here during college and I am always happy to return, and am welcomed back warmly by sue and the crew. The bagels are hands down the best in the area, both the amazing cream cheese options and egg sandwiches. The iced coffee and is also the best. There had been lots of comments about Sue, the owner.
