This is a smaller Cafe that gets a lot of traffic. The vibe is welcoming and upbeat. The service was quick,friendly,and helpful in menu recommendations. The coffee was the star of the show for me. I ordered a caramel kicker,cold and it taste as good as Starbucks or better. My party was also thrilled over the cross ain't rolls stating there "out of this world good". The menu is large and includes a variety of breakfast and lunch items that you can order at any time. So if you're feeling breakfast at noon,they got you... This small spot has been serving bagels and more for many years, and did a nice job serving me a toasted Everything Bagel with cream cheese today. My first visits were back when it was Brooklyn Bagel & Deli and I was happy to learn the same owners are back offering not only bagels but also breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Determining the chewiness of the bagel was more than I wanted to tackle this morning, I just enjoyed my food. Whether boiled of steamed, it was an excellent snack on my way to Costco. I love the saltiness and seeds, the bagel was easy to eat, and the cream cheese a cool and welcome addition. As I mentioned, the place is small with four tables and a few counter seats inside. Parking is available right outside the door and there was a table or two outside. The place was clean and had a pleasant feel. While I was there, I watched a steady stream of customers placing orders or picking up orders placed online, some recognized by the person behind the counter and addressed by name. The past 4 years we've had 3 Bagel Shops at this location. The neighborhood was anxiously awaiting for the opening to check out the shop under its new ownership. Visually and atmospherically, not much has changed from the previous owners. When I stopped in, there were just two other customers and a few employees -- I'm sure that'll pick up once snowbird season rolls back around. My order was simple: an Everything Bagel, scooped, toasted WELL, with Scallion Cream Cheese. Unfortunately, the execution missed the mark. The outer crust of the bagel was decent, but the bagel overall was tough and lacked the chew you'd expect from a true New York-style bagel. Also worth noting: there was a very heavy hand with the salt on the seasoning -- not ideal for anyone watching their sodium intake. The scallion cream cheese did have fresh scallion pieces, but the base cream cheese had a sharp, almost metallic aftertaste. Oddly enough, it tasted exactly the same as it did back when it was Brooklyn Bagels -- which wasn't great then, either. As for the toasting? Not even close to well toasted, which was disappointing considering it's such a basic request. I'm hopeful that as the new owners settle in, they'll start to put their own stamp on the place and raise the quality. This area desperately needs a proper New York bagel shop, and with a few key improvements, The Bagels & Brews Cafe could become that go-to spot. read more

I got a jalepeno cheese bagel, double toasted with jalapeño cream cheese. This is the first place in Sarasota to take me seriously when I ask for it double toasted, the cheese was melted on the bagel and there was a nice crisp to the bread. We looked at each other and I received a wink. We exited to our favorite Bagel shop and made our way down Beneva to Bagels and Brew. We made the right call. Even though we were right next to a competitor, we were rewarded to the best bagels in town, Bagels and Brew. It was crowded but worth the wait. My wife had her tried and true, plain Bagel, lightly toasted, with Lox Spread. I tried the Western Breakfast on an everything Bagel. My favorite go-to order is The Original with bacon or ham on a Spinach Swiss Cheese bagel. Soo delicious! Nice and hot when it comes out too. The location is great! Walkable for many and if you're driving it is easy in, easy out with plenty of parking. Though they don't have a gluten free bagel (yet?) they do have a great omelette and potatoes, it was a very hearty meal.
