I went to Bagels by Jarrett tonight based on a recommendation from an Instagram influencer. I have to say, they have a weird setup. You can't go in the actual restaurant. If you ordered ahead of time, you park in front of the restaurant and wait in your car as a girl comes and gives you your order. Otherwise, you go into the restaurant next door, The Slice Shop, and order from a tablet. Odd. I wound up ordering The Cutlet Joe Triple Decker. It was a good sandwich, don't get me wrong, but it costs $22. That's kinda wild. It comes with a side of chips, pickles, and coleslaw. I also ordered a buffalo ranch slice from the slice shop, which cost $5. Also decent. I definitely appreciate the uniqueness of their menu, but I won't be returning for a long time due to the high prices. read more

I've wanted to try pizza here for a long time and finally got the opportunity to stop by the slice shop. I was greeted as soon as I entered the door and love the 80s/90s decor. There's nothing like the Pee-wee Herrmann and Beavis and Butthead bringing back memories of my childhood! I got the plain slice and it didn't disappoint. It's wild that I am sitting here writing a review about a bagel shop that has a takeout menu that rivals restaurants in New York City. My wife and I are foodies and are pretty picky. We like to have our pasta al dente, the sauce to be not too sweet, etc. BXJ checks off all these boxes and has become our favorite place in the area for pasta, chicken Parm, sandwiches (get Lawsuit!) etc. and of course the bagels are absolutely delicious! read more

If you haven't been to Bagels by Jarrett, you are seriously missing out. From the second I walked in to pick up my order, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can tell they actually care about their customers and the food they're putting out. And speaking of the food--wow. Everything was unbelievably fresh, high-quality, and the portions are absolutely massive. You definitely get your money's worth and then some. The absolute star of the show was the Lord Lawsuit Caesar Triple Decker Sandwich. This thing is a beast--it could easily feed at least two people! Beyond the size, it was hands down the best Caesar sandwich I have ever had in my life. The flavors and textures were completely spot on. Recently diagnosed celiac and this was the first gluten free bagel that I ate and enjoyed! I was able to get a sausage egg and cheese (sausage in place of the pork roll), a few extra bagels to make sandwiches at home, AND it was all packaged separately from the non gluten items and clearly marked. I'm looking forward to eating my other bagels and so far so good with no reactions!!!!!! Thank you for not only having gluten free, but the extra steps for the Celiacs who can enjoy a reasonably good bagel - reasonably ONLY because I wish I could just eat a regular bagel. But well worth the hour hike for me - I mean if you're in Essex county and haven't tried the food here yet, you are missing out! The menu it's insanely wide with various options and doubted being able to do so many different cuisines soo well but I was proven wrong real quick. In any case, the Bagels were just like store bought and not chewy or anything really different compared to Manhattan bagel, probably smaller I'd say. Pleasant employee came out when I was clearly confused about how to order food. She said, google bagels by Jarrett and click the website from there. This worked, was able to order sandwich. It was very yummy, but fairly expensive. Sandwich came out as ordered but not even a napkin inside the bag. Good thing I had my roll of bounty in the car. Just because it was good, I may consider ordering in future again, but very awkward ordering and dining experience. Off quality alone, it's among the best breakfast sandwich and bagels I've ever had. I love that everything is homemade and the diversity of the menu. I like the curbside service and how efficient it is. My only issue is the price. $18 (after taxes) for a chicken sandwich (albeit an elite one) is a bit steep and makes it tough to keep coming back. Chicken Parm Sandwich !!!! First want to say that I was at first intimidated to try BXJ since they have a different concept than anything I've ever experienced. Tried the bagels first. Figured out the Toast app, it was sooooo super easy. Tried their pizza a couple weeks later. Delicious (a touch greasy , but nothing a couple of napkins couldn't fix) But the other day tried the Chicken Parm Sandwich. Omg. Definitely the best in the area by far. I have had mixed feeling about their bagels, but I have become obsessed with their countersuit bagel. Its a chicken breast fried with lettuce slice really thin in some sort of honey mustard sauce. Amazing! I have had a few others like the lawsuit, Korean chicken box, and the tex-mex rolls but always end up going back to my fave. My son always get the bacon, egg and cheese bagel that looks like a baked ball. Really awesome too. Prices are pretty high for a chicken sandwich, but the quality is there so it makes me feel like I am getting my monies worth. One thing I would like to add is that the everything bagel lacks the "everything taste". It almost like a plain bagel dressed pretty, but everything else is pretty good. read more

His menu consists of bagels, freshly made bagel chips, a variety of breakfast & lunch sandwiches, cream cheese spreads, flavored butters, hummus, chicken salad (amazing) cold beverages, hot coffee and more! He's always adding something to the menu so I suggest following him on social media or checking out his website for daily updates! For now everything is curbside pick up because of the pandemic. I have been meaning to try this place for a long time, and finally tried it after seeing it on NJ.com. My friend and I both ordered breakfast sandwiches that cost $15 each. This is ridiculous, but we decided to try it out anyway and see if they lived up to the hype. First of the all, the bagel was not fresh and too hard. The best part of my sandwich was the scrambled egg, but the bacon was just small pieces of bacon that fell of the bagel with every bite. It was so disappointing that I didn't even finish it even though it cost a pretty penny. I won't go back here, and honestly, would not recommend anyone pay that much for a breakfast sandwich. The veggie Joe, the lawsuit wrap, the Taylor ham egg and cheese, the grilled cheese bagel, the chicken up in da club chicken salad bagel, the fruity pebbles donut OMG! Today, was the soft opening of this small bagel shop in West Orange. Everything or sesame were the only choices. We decided to order two everything bagel breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the Everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, onion, and capers. My husband ordered the everything bagel with roasted garlic and shallot spread.( spread was very pungent) The bagels are very dense, I suggest getting it scooped if you order a sandwich. I don't know where to begin. The fact that you cannot see inside the shop or walk in is odd. Had to order from the parking lot over the phone, so I didn't have visibility to what I was was actually paying for. Ordered a GF bagel... To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It's nothing close to a bagel. I gave them a poor review on Google and the owner's response was unprofessional and unproductive (see accompanying picture). He then deleted it, LOL. If I could give this establishment zero stars, I'd pay Yelp to have it happen. To think I liked this guys band when I was in highschool, sucks he turned into a greedy pretentious food snob, mind you, who doesn't even sell a good bagel. He offers gift cards, that aren't accepted when trying to order online (the only form of ordering acceptable) just a way to scam people for their money. My boyfriend and I have ordered from here multiple times trying to use the gift card we received but had to use our own money since Jarret couldn't get his sh*t straight accepting gift cards online. And the worst part was...it wasn't worth the money. Ordered a Caesar salad which was more like a bucket of Caesar dressing with some lettuce included. Foul. A couple of sandwiches that were sub par (the lawsuit could have decent, but we received more of a mayonnaise sandwich with some chicken involved) a $20 Turkey club, in which our friend said "you paid $20 for this? I've had a better club at the Nevada diner that came with fries for less". Amongst a couple other items in which were all forgettable. After never truly enjoying the food, we STILL wanted to use our gift card. my boyfriend messaged jarret on Instagram asking about it, to which jarret snarkly replied he'd just give him the money since this has been an on going thing for months now. Staff are lovely and attentive. Had a slice of pizza marguerita. Crust good. Sauce was doused with raw garlic which seemed like it was spooned on from a jar. Totally undermined the flavor and enjoyment of the slice. The harsh and overpowering taste of the garlic was very off putting. Raw garlic in anything is bitter and unpleasant to eat. Why do this? Literally one of my favorite places I've been to in a very long time. I don't even like spaghetti like that, but I ordered his spaghetti with meat sauce. It is so delicious. It is angel hair pasta with delicious meat sauce, great cheese, but then I had to order chopped cheese as well. Bread is crispy meat delicious cheese outrageous everything is great. It is very pricey but considering that it cost $15-$16 for, a meal at McDonald's consider spending three more dollars to get real good food. It is a strange way to order but half the time everybody's taking out anyway so what does it matter order online and pick your food up. I had very prompt service. Someone came right out to give me my stuff and the food was super enjoyable. I definitely say in a world full of fast food chains. You should try this place out. read more

Let me start by saying that I know people complain about the price of the food here, but I find that to be a very personal decision someone makes when choosing to order from here or any other restaurant. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. Meanwhile, I ordered for the first time today. Simple sesame bagel with bacon and messy eggs. Yes don't eat it in your car...it's messy! Just like the description. I thought it was outstanding...couldn't find fault with anything. Would order again in a minute. My only "grip" was the cup my OJ came in.
