Went on a saturday night about 90 minutes before closing, very festive atmosphere with a live ban playing near the patio area. We were seated near a fire pit in a closed patio area. Server was great however my order came out wrong, I ordered a half jerk chicken, seasoned rice, black beans, and plantain. My first order was wrong and was sent back immediately and upon receiving my order, it was warm and did not appear or taste fresh, my beans were no where near being a side but the server brought me a bigger size. My friend ordered the jerk pasta and it was tasty. This seemed more like a commercial style caribbean restaurant and not authentic, my experience was lackluster and somewhat disappointing. read more

After having the amazing experience we had in the location in Georgia..we immediately had to find one more closer to us to go again and sure enough we did..Amazing day with amazing food. I placed my order and soon after, it arrived, but no utensils were at my table. The waiter noticed and shortly after, handed me a set. Bahama Breeze rocks my island-loving world. Even when the possibility of a vacation is laughable (like, say, right now), the atmosphere at Bahama Breeze can damn near fool you into thinking you've hopped a plane and landed in paradise (if you find a seat where the parking lot is out of view, that is). Possibly the only downfall of the evening was the wait - apparently this is a perpetual issue here, and you can call ahead if you don't mind sitting inside. The patio, however, was of a seat-yourself nature, which had Jess and I practically stalking the tables that looked like they were almost finished. It felt dirty. I think I prefer to be put on a list and seated by a host. When we finally claimed a fantastic table in its own private alcove of the patio, we started the night with mojitos (shocked? I know. I promise to start branching out, I swear.) I typically go classic with these, but my sister tried the mango and it was admittedly not shabby. Next, because I'm a huge sucker for plantains, we tried the tostones as an appetizer. These were perhaps better in theory than in execution. A found them a bit on the greasy side and too heavy for a starter. Fortunately, the main course didn't let us down (but let's be honest, at this point Round 2 of the mojitos had us caring less and less). My sister had the paella and I went with the wood-grilled chicken (yes, my choice was on the dull side, but I have a thing for mashed sweet potatoes and I couldn't pass it up). Both were well-seasoned and flavorful, the sweet potatoes were every bit as good as I'd hoped and the chicken was far more tender than I expect from this caliber of restaurant. The service was stellar, too. Our waiter was wrapping up his night, but was nonetheless attentive and informative (and, yes, even a little charming). So I can't take a vacation. Bahama Breeze isn't bad for Americanized food -- it's not much like a true Caribbean lolo in many ways. Still, it's not bad, and the value is decent. They use cold-water lobster, for instance, and you will not see that in local restaurant in the Caribbean, they server Spiny Lobster, a different sort. Then again, Raleigh is over a thousand miles from the Caribbean, and small differences are to be expected. Let's see, how should I begin... First of all, I am somewhat ashamed to have eaten at a Bahama Breeze to start with. Watered down, Americanized, genericized (pretty sure I just made up a word, but I like it) pan-ethnic food is generally not my favorite. However, a good friend was having his birthday, and, for a variety of reasons, this was the place we ended up. So, I'm not really all that bitter about it. We went on a Saturday evening, and the joint was quite busy. We had to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour to get a table for 7, which in this case was completely unacceptable - similarly sized parties came in after us and were seated before us, all while there were large tables sitting unoccupied and uncleaned for the longest time directly behind the host's little podium. The redeeming factor for the experience was the fact that some of us had friends working at the restaurant, so we were able to get our food and drinks fairly quickly, once we were finally seated. Lord. Where do I start. Probably by saying STAY AWAY ON WEEKEND NIGHTS. I was in town visiting my parents, my best friend was in town too, and I had been raving about Bahama Breeze. We drove 30 minutes from Wake Forest for dinner and used the call ahead feature to skip an hour and a half wait and be seated in just 15 minutes. Once we were seated, the trouble began. We were surrounded by large, loud, and at times, downright irritating groups with no regard for the people around them. I kid you not, at one point there was a man who stood on the seat cushion at his booth and proceeded to shake his rump for all to see. It was 7:30 PM. This begs questions. Is this normal? Can I say something? Why hasn't my server said something? Where are the managers? Is this rowdy behavior the reason that there are two security officers roaming around the restaurant at all times? Well I found out this was considered normal at this location from our server, who dreaded working weekends, and it showed in the service she provided. The sad part is that the food was so good. Thank goodness the company was as well or an already miserable experience could have been worse. My best advice? Call ahead and specify the type of seating you want. Not much has changed in ten years at Bahama Breeze - especially the wait lines and no room for seated waiting. You will easily wait 30+ minutes here every evening. While the food hasn't changed either the reason for the 3 stars comes from their new-ish Chef's Specials. The wait staff was polite, but they are dressed like its a fast food joint and not the Bahamas, which is still odd. However, we enjoyed the food - salmon specials cooked in two ways with generous sides of vegetables, corn mash, and rice. Also the apps were also very tasty, a white bean hummus and fried yuca (potatoes). However be prepared as the hummus comes with little vegetables to dip and cost $3 extra for more. In the end its hard not to feel nickled and dimed by this chain, which after over 10 years of existing in the Raleigh area has improved little. They are capitalizing on your "adventurous" desire to go to the Caribbean - which is little more than fruity drinks and colors on the walls. My wife and I received a invitation to eat here for her birthday via email with a free desert. While we did not make it for the birthday visit we did eat here on Valentine's Day in the early evening. The food was ok and the service tolerable but the waitress had to be reminded of drink and food orders. It did seem that she was trying but she spent more time at another table talking with what I would assume was her friend. At the end of the meal the bill had to be corrected and the code for the desert would not work. This added an additional 8 buck on my bill. But still I was ok and left a 20 percent tip. Today I received a call from my bank that someone was trying to use my debit card as it happens It was not returned to me. Someone had tried to access my account three different times and had called to try to change my PIN number. Then they received a call from a female saying she had been given my card after dining at a restaurant last night I called the restaurant to speak with Mike the manager, he was not really helpful and said if a member of his staff was involved his security would handle it. He did not want to know the waitresses name or the ticket number to follow up. Needless to say I am disappointed and will not be eating there again. First time going to Bahama Breeze and I have to say I was quite impressed. The decor didn't wow me, but what did? was the flavor of what I ordered! Knowing it's not going to be like dining in the Caribbean, I didn't expect much....but i was definitely impressed!!! I tried 3 items from the appetizer menu, the Jamaican wings, the shrimp/lobster quesadillas and the beef empanadas. Loved them all! and the portions are great! the pinapple chutney is sooo delish! Paired so well with the wings and the empanadas. Can't wait to go again, and when I do i'll be excited to try a cocktail because at least I know my food will be good! read more

I'm not big into places trying to make you feel like you're at Disney World and this restaurant strikes me as such a place with it's decor. I have been there twice. I don't even remember the first time, it was so long ago--maybe 8 years ago. The second time I went was on July 22 with some friends. They would not seat us because not everyone in the party had arrived (waiting on one person) so we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes or more for a table big enough for our party. The decor is cool I suppose, definitely different for this area. We ended up ordering the kids' food first since I couldn't decide what to order. But...the waitress took so long to come back to take our orders that the kids were well finished with their food by the time our own food arrived. My bad I suppose, but...I don't think it should have taken as long as it did. I ordered Carribean chicken. It was quite yummy. The food is prepared gourmet style so arrives on your plate looking quite beautiful. You almost don't want to eat it. I didn't try any mixed drinks but saw several passing by our table that looked absolutely delish. Overall I'm giving 3 stars because it was A-OK, but not a place I would frequently go to. This wasn't my first experience at Bahamas breeze but my sister and I enjoyed the half priced appetizers for happy hour. I didn't know they even had this but she is a frequent patron and loves coming here after work. We ordered the chicken quesadillas, spinach dip, jerk wings, and the beef empanadas. Everything was delicious except for the wings. They were served undercooked and we sent them back. When they brought them back the wings were overcooked and dry. I guess we should've just ordered something else. The service was quick and the server was extremely nice. I already sort of reviewed Bahama Breeze in my recent review of the Yelp Reggae Bash that took place at this location on 14th July. So I will try to keep this review short and sweet. If you take anything away from reading this review, remember this - the Ultimate Pineapple drink is delicioussss! One of the most refreshing summer drinks I've had in a long time! And it's served in an actual carved out pineapple, how cool is that?! The spinach dip is nice, light, yet creamy. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even really like spinach! The shrimps were large tasty ones in a light breading, tasted very fresh. I think they were supposed to be coconut shrimps, but to be perfectly honest, I didn't taste any coconut... I also want to mention the onion rings, they were probably among the best ones I've had - light battered and not greasy at all and the larger type where you can actually taste the onion, and not just slathered in batter. The Jerk chicken wings were not bad, but I think a stronger jerk seasoning flavor would have improved the wings and perhaps made them more authentic? The theme of Bahama Breeze is relatively unique to the triangle, to my knowledge. There is a cool ambiance in the main dining area as well as on the patio. Finding parking is a Breeze..see what I did there? (Reading this review out loud to my wife and getting a major eye roll coming my way!) The staff were very friendly, chatty and personable. For sure, I will come back soon for more Caribbean flavors (although evidently Americanized version of it, so if you are a Caribbean food expert, this may or may not be for you). I think Bahama Breeze has an overall great vibe, works for multi purposes whether it is a date, group dinner, or just a coulple of drinks. The food was mediocre- cold fries, barely a tablespoon sized "serving" of black beans, dry chicken, bland tacos. Drinks- the drinks that did come tasted like koolaid and clearly didn't have much, if any, alcohol in them, and don't get me started on the 3 different beers that we tried to order only to be told 20 minutes after we ordered that they didn't actually have those beers. The server didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu or the ordering process. We genuinely tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and hoped that she was new to the job, but her indifference to the fact that her service sucked really negated that if that was the case. Orders are brought promptly and there is rarely a delay with service. I have a couple of tried and true favorites that I generally order: the Key West fish tacos are scrumptious - light and tasty with a delicious spicy sauce served on the side; the Cuban sandwich drips with savory flavor - the mustard and pickles are mouthwatering. The tasty black beans and rice are my favorite sides and my good friend loves the Coconut Shrimp and Crab/Shrimp/Mango Stack. After hours, we enjoy the margaritas and other specialty drinks. I really enjoy coming here, it's a nice restaurant, not fancy, but not too family oriented too. I went with family and friends for dinner. We had a short wait before our tables were ready and we're quickly seated and greeted by a nice server. At Bahama Breeze the server's (or at least ours) don't write down your order, they memorize it. Which is pretty cool. I always have a hard time deciding what I want to order, and when that happens I opt for a burger lol. I got the Angus burger, with a side of fries and sweet tea...which is kinda lame cause its not really exotic or from the Bahamas...I guess I can only blame myself for that. Our server took all our orders without writing them down, and surprisingly everyone got what they wanted without problems, and in a timely manner. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars are for the drinks, which were really strong and good (albeit a little overpriced). But there is a decent looking happy hour, but since I live in Durham I limited myself to only one of the drinks since they were so strong. The food was too bland. I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp quesadilla and I ended up sending it back because it tasted like nothing. I ended up finishing my friend's order of jerk chicken wings, which looked and tasted more blackened than jerk chicken. No worries...our server put the order in for beef empanadas for HALF OFF!! The beef empanadas was SOOOO GOOD! Has a hint of curry, beef, potatoes, and other goodies. I was perking up by the awesome server and app. For my main, I ordered the mahi mahi and shrimp in lemon grass rice bowl. TONS OF FLAVOR! The way the bowl was shaped it kept my food hot till I was done. For dessert, the chocolate island. Chocolate mousse on top of a brownie on top of vanilla and chocolate sauce. When we did that, the host told us that there was a waiting of 10-15 minutes to get a table. There was no one (not even one person) waiting to be seated, and quite a few empty tables right in front of us without a "reserved" sign on them. It was clear they were not going to offer us a table anytime soon, so we offered to pay and leave, but they said the machines were down so we would have to wait, offering us no place to sit in the meanwhile (the bar was full). I have yet to eat something I don't like from here. Their chicken and beef empanadas are delicious. The seafood paella is great. The almond crusted salmon is to die for!! Wow, I woke up thinking about it the next morning, that good. They have a nice happy hour menu with $5 items. Some utems , like the beef empanadas, are only available at the time. They give you a pretty decent serving. There drink prices are pretty reasonable all the time. Cocktails are like $5-7. It has a fun ambiance, but the music can be a little loud. I wouldn't recommend it as a date spot I've never been at a time when there's a wait, but i hear it can get pretty busy. read more

This is my favorite place to have carribean paella. My fiance who normally doesn't eat most of the food in the paella, will clean his plate. It's the mix of delicousness that keeps you coming back. The lunch menu does not have it but you can always ask for it. I think it is about 12-16 bucks but it is SO WELL worth it! I also LOVE the coconut shrimp...the sauce is what makes it delicious. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE "BAHAMARITA!" I've never felt so strongly about a drink in my life. So this place has good food even though the last time I was here, their oven useful bake bread was broken. They also have bad customer service skills. Today is my wife's birthday and I called yesterday to make reservations and the guy who answered the phone said they didn't do reservations. I told him that we would have 16 people and he said to do call ahead seating. So today I call to do call ahead seating and the woman who answered the phone said they only do call ahead for groups of 6 or less. I then talked to a manager who said they would work with me. Had dinner last night and it was average. I have visited many locations of Bahama Breeze in various cities and it is usually consistent; however not her. I should have figured something was amiss when I arrived at 6:30 and it was half full. Typically the restaurant is full with a kine waiting to be seated. I ordered the seafood paella. It came out semi warm and the fish seemed tough and the rice was cold. I would almost call it tasteless which again is not typical for Bahama Breeze. We had a waitress that was inattentive, especially since the place was rater empty. When she poured my wine from a small carafe into my glass she spilled it. Instead of an apology she said, "it was only a sip that spilled". I had the key lime pie with a cup of coffee for dessert. Both were fabulous. If I never visited another Bahama Breeze I'm not sure I would return. Perhaps I will give this location another try chalking it up to a bad night. read more

Took about 10-15 minutes to get drinks, after that took another 30 min for them to tell us they were out of pasta, so we waited another 15-20 min for them to bring out our food. The waitress came out with my friend's food and then said my other friend's food that was ready earlier is now gone and given to other patrons. So we wasted an hour with no food. Also awful music. We've been together locations and really enjoyed it but this location is seriously lacking. We had terrible service. It took forever for our food to come out and we never even got drink refills. We were seated in the section that has love music and gives you an outside fell. It was run down and messy looking. At least the manager did acknowledge out bad service. I stayed away from Bahama Breeze for quite a few years after experiencing sub-par food and service on multiple visits. On a recent visit, I am happy to report that the food has improved! We ordered multiple appetizers including the goat cheese, onion rings and coconut shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious and the entrees were good as well. The service, while much friendlier than I remember, was still lacking. Dishes weren't cleared and drink orders were forgotten. One thing that I have always really liked about Bahama Breeze is their outdoor patio. It really commits to the "tropical beach" theme with tiki torches and a fire pit. The large windows are open when the weather is nice. Definitely a great spot for enjoying a few drinks! Now that the food has improved, I will certainly return to Bahama Breeze! read more

My hope was to truly like this place and want to come back again and again. That did not happen. The best part of the experience was the service especially our waiter named Khalit. The drinks were good but the food however awful! I ordered the pork medallions with sweet potatoes and green beans. The potatoes were so sweet I felt sick. I asked the replace them with regular potatoes and while waiting for them I had a chance to taste the pork. The pork was chewy, tough, and taste the same way my dogs food smells. I sent the entire meal back and decided to try the jerk chicken pasta as its one of the favorites at the restaurant. That too was terrible. It lacked seasoning and the only flavor present was lemon. There was no taste of jerk and it was also pretty evident that the chicken was some prepackaged frozen stuff. This place is not for anyone that has had true Caribbean food. I've had and make foods with genuine Caribbean seasonings and can say from personal experience that this place does not use anything of the sorts. If you're looking for authentic foods avoid this place. Especially as the price is inflated given the poor quality.
