I had the opportunity to come back a few times since my initial visit. The restaurant was clean. I was quickly seated. I enjoyed the Cajun trout special. The rice pilaf and the cauliflower were delicious. The service was great. No complaints. The today's catch and the steaks are my go to's from here on out. These options are way more satisfying than the starters and honestly a starter isn't needed when I enjoy these options.

We had a party of 7. The service was great! The bathrooms were clean. The dinning area was a little dark but nice. The food was delicious!! Everyone in my party enjoyed their food.

Honestly J. Alexander's is my favorite restaurant. I always get something similar but that's because it's undefeated. This time around I got a parmesan crusted steak (a dinner special) with Mac and cheese and a pear martini. Dinner...phenomenal. I'm still dreaming about it. The pear martini was a little strong for me s asked for a little bit of simple syrup to sweeten it up a bit. Perfection now! It was also my friend's birthday and they offered her a free birthday cake. It was a slice of carrot cake. We both have never had carrot cake before but wow, it was delicious. It tasted like a warm hug in the middle of fall. Highly recommend!

We went to the restaurant yesterday for my birthday celebration. This IS the best restaurant I have been to in 20 years. Excellence at its best. From the time we walked in. Greeting, communication, wait staff, service, food, everything was great. The food portions are unbelievable. All of the wait staff, just great service. I had the queso and chips, thick, lump meat crab cakes, fresh Coleslaw & potato stick like fries, cooked to perfection. I sampled the sushi and calamari all seasoned and cooked to perfection from my friend's plates. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, 100% (sorry I didn't think take a picture when I was served)

Visited on 5/5/25 for my god-sister's birthday celebration. I've been here several times growing up, so it was nice to be back for a special occasion. Our server, Anthony, was attentive and did a great job handling our large party of about 15-20 people. My god-sister specifically requested him since she had a great experience with him before. Although I was a little bummed that I wasn't able to get her a birthday drink--I reminded him twice--I completely understand since he was juggling a big group. That said, I appreciated how quickly he replaced my French martini after I accidentally dropped part of my cheesesteak roll into it. Top-tier service in the midst of a busy night. Speaking of drinks and food: * French Martini - Delicious! You could really taste the fresh pineapple, but the vodka still came through. It gave me a nice buzz. * Appetizers - The cheesesteak rolls and the chips with spinach dip were so good. Great starters before the main course. * Entrée - I had the slow-roasted prime rib with smashed potatoes and a savory broth to pour over the meat. The ribeye was cooked perfectly--juicy and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were creamy, well-seasoned, and the perfect pairing. The ambience was warm and cozy, with dim lighting that set the tone for a relaxed dinner. The decor was stylish without being over the top. There's also a nice bar up front for anyone just looking to grab a drink. Overall, it was a great time and a memorable experience for a birthday dinner. Would definitely return

Food is amazing and fresh. Service was great and Patient.‼ so so so yummy 10/10 please come here yall.

UPDATE: The food is still delish and our server was very friendly. We got lucky and missed both the lunch and dinner rush. Timing is everything. We did have to return our soup. It wasn't hot. But, once it was returned, it was amazing. The salad is a must try. The buttery croutons are the star of the salad. The egg rolls are a winning appetizer choice. If you have any doubt about visiting J. Alexander, give them a try. Bring your boo for date night, your friends for a meet up, or go solo at the bar. Happy eating!

Fresh and Amazing food! Amazing waiter and cooks! So delicious! Love the rustic modern feel inside. Makes for a terrific place to meet people casually or have a romantic date. So wonderful that I went two days in a row for lunch!

The food was great, but the service was even better. My waitress Sarah (older lady) was knowledgeable, serviceable, funny. Thank you, Ma'am.

Date night... we enjoyed our night. Our server was really good and attentive even though the restaurant was pretty packed. The food was really delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly! My husband enjoyed his steak. We also enjoyed drinks and dessert. We will definitely be dining here again.

Ask the Community - J. Alexander's

What are their nonalcoholic beverages? Can they make virgin drinks?

Yes

Do they offer a Brunch Menu? Where can I access it?

I don't think that they do. They offer an all day menu that covers what a brunch would offer plus daily specials.

Do they serve brunch on Sunday?

If I remember correctly there is a Brunch menu but it was kinda limited... well thats like most brunch menus right lol.

J Alexander's vs. Fleming's?

The pesto and salami one was my favorite. The inside of the restaurant is pretty dimly lit, but we didn't mind and it helped create a cozy atmosphere. I have been to Postino many times before, but this was my first time at the Raleigh location. While it's been 4 years since I've had Postino and the menu has changed a little, the bruschetta board is still a permanent fixture. We ordered a bruschetta board for an appetizer and I ordered the half panini & half salad for my entree. The bruschetta board is a must order because you can get 4 different kinds. The top tier choice is the salami pesto one. It's my absolute favorite. For my panini, I got the caprese one on ciabatta bread and the half of the mixed greens salad. The salad was delicious. This was a ton of food and felt very satisfying. I always love the vibe of Postino's, but this location was way too dark with only a small candle at the table. Service started off good and we were able to order our food without a problem. However, our server was done with his shift right after we ordered so we got a new server. Our new server had no idea we already ordered and was a little behind coming to our table for water refills. Despite that, we were in and out of the restaurant within 45 minutes. Postino is surrounded by other shops and restaurants, so they had a ton of parking available outside the restaurant. Highly recommend this place if you want good food!

If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting. Overall enjoyable, and I'd come back, especially to try more of the menu and the drinks.

We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

The North Hills spot ( 4421 Six Forks Road in Raleigh, beside Total Wine) feels settled in the best way. Comfortable, Welcoming, Cozy. We started slowly. A wine flight. I ordered the whipped ricotta for an appetizer to share and a burger with fries for my entree. The whipped ricotta was ok. It would taste better with some sort of seasoning in it. My fries were served hot but needed some salt. I asked for my burger to be cooked well done but I was brought a burnt burger. I took one bite but it was too overcooked. I then requested that my server have my burger be cooked medium well so I didn't get another burnt burger. When my burger was brought back out, our server had me cut into my burger to make sure it was to my liking. The preparation was better but it was bland and tasted like there wasn't any seasoning on it. After this our server wasn't as attentive anymore. For dessert we got the donuts. They were served warm and I enjoyed them with the cherry sauce. I did not like the chocolate sauce that was served with the donuts.
