We love going to the Bahama Breeze. The food is always good, and lots of it. We try to go during late lunch hours to get the smaller portion. We started off with the flat bread appetizer, which is like a thin pizza only a lot better...not too much cheese and fresh tomatoes, that was great along with a bowl of Black Bean Soup. From there our entrees were Chicken Kabob over rice and a Chicken Breast in sauce with potatoes. Both very good with a great mixture of seasoning and taste! Our only complaint is that it take a long time to get your food once you order. They make everything to order, so it takes a while, but worth the wait. We have iPhones and can normally play through a few games of Battleship while we wait! Fun and good food...great! read more

This is probably one of the worst restaurants in Raleigh. I ordered a salad without cheese as I am allergic and it came out with the cheese crumbles. I informed the waitress and 15 minutes later they brought me a "new one". Thank God I checked the plate before eating because there was cheese under the chicken and the lettuce, they just picked off the crumbles on top. The manager came over and was of absolutely no help, they didn't even comp anything on my bill and I could have landed up in the hospital with their mistake! read more

The fish I ordered was really good but they brought four of the five meals out about ten minutes before the last meal, so I sat there waiting for my food. I was here on Sunday for an early dinner with my grandma. I have only ever been to a Bahama Breeze one other time (in Florida), and I didn't recall being too impressed by the experience. But my grandma loves this place, so I was ok with giving it another try. And after a week of slogging through the un-Carolinalike cold, snow, and ice, I wasn't going to complain about anything that felt even vaguely tropical. All in all, we had a really nice meal. We had to wait about ten minutes for a table, but once we were seated, the service was excellent. Our waitress (Britt) did a great job of coming around and checking on us often, and was super friendly. I had a cuban sandwich with a side Cesar salad, and both were good. My grandma got the coconut shrimp and seafood chowder. No complaints whatsoever about the food. The only thing was, as some other reviewers have noted, the noise level. For some reason, the music was really, really loud. Which makes everyone else talk really loud to compensate. Which results in it being really difficult to carry on a conversation with anyone, much less an older person who has difficulty hearing as it is. They had a live guitar player performing some tropical tunes over by the bar, which was piped over the main sound system. It wasn't bad music, but really needed to be taken down a few notches. Tasty and unique Caribbean food, good service. and an upbeat ambience. Great for young adults. However, the music volume was ridiculously loud. We went in with a party of six, and could barely hear each other. The waitress had to come around the back of both sides of the table to take our order. We asked her if they could turn the music down, and she said the manager did a walk through and, "It isn't that loud." I then asked the hostess if they could turn the music down, and they finally turned it down to about half of what it had been. Most of the crowd in here is younger, and I can see why. Please realize where you are when you walk in the door. This isn't a local place with amazing food that can't be replicated anywhere. It's a chain restaurant that it marketed for it's consistency to other Bahama Breezes across the nation. They are the go-to spot for people who want to eat out somewhere where they know what they are getting before they go. You can expect for them the fill up most nights with families and with young people on Fridays and Saturdays. If you have a large party (6+) and you're going at night, you need to make reservations or be prepared to wait 30 min to an hour. That being said, it is pretty good. I usually end up here for most business lunches and we are in and out with pleasant service and good food everytime. I have eaten here on several occasions over the years when working in Raleigh mostly because it's next door to the hotel and convenient. But I think overall the food is pretty good. My absolute favorite is the jerk chicken wings which are whole wings grilled with jerk marinade and arrive piping hot and are super tasty. I get these every time I go here. Fish tacos are good also. They have a decent draft beer selection with some local Carolina brews on tap and although the place can get very crowded, its big so they turn tables pretty quickly. I understand this is a chain although I have never seen it before. It is kind of cheesily decorated to nines in "Island Decor" much like a chain would be. Or Disney World. But I really like the firepit patio. Its awesome to sit out there next to the fire and sip a tropical cocktail. What really impressed me most with the place was the food. I had an almond encrusted tilapia with garlic mashed potatoes and some seasoned grilled veggies. The whole meal was deeeelish! My husband had a quesadilla and he was also pleased with his meal. We'll definitely drop in there again when we're in that neck of the woods. UPDATE: So I wrote that review a few years ago and my opinion has changed a bit since then. Maybe I was impressed back then because it was new to me and I hadn't yet found many good restaurants in this area? Not sure, but now I view the place with some amount of disdain because it does seem really chainy to me. Call me a snob, but chain food can not hold its own against independent restaurants. Wonderful atmosphere, great staff, wonderful drink and the food was phenomenal. My husband had the wood fired salmon with mango sauce and lobster tail with garlic mash potatoes and broccoli. Ok...let me first say. Bahama breeze Ahi Tuna has been my all time favorite til today. I've never had to send it back cause the tuna was raw and smelled a little fishy. Well I guess there is a first time for everything!!! Urgh. I sent it back to get it back over cooked by my standards, and it still smelled fishy. I could not even finish eating it for fear I was gonna be sick. And not to mention the presentation this time was that of a preschooler. Food is good, but I witnessed a bartender telling another bartender to make a Top Shelf drink but to use bottom shelf liquor. She told her to use house Tequila for Patron, but charge her for a top shelf drink. She made a point to tell her this twice. House Tequila vs Patron is a 10-20 dollar difference based on bottle size. Waited over an hour to be seated. Waited almost 15 minutes and the waitress never came by to greet us. She walked by us twice and never even acknowledged us. I could understand it if she was swamped, but there were lots of empty tables. We ended up getting up and leaving. I should have known that there was a problem when a group of 6 complained to the manager while we were waiting to be seated and then others were complaining about slow service while we were at the table. Until the current manager is relieved avoid this restaurant. Father's day dinner. Told it would be 20 minutes for a table. Took more than an hour. After seated they inform us that 1/2 the menu was sold out. This was at 6:00 pm mind you. Would have been nice to know before we waited more than an hour. After reading reviews, I expected mediocre food. What I got was nowhere close. It's not like my expectations were high, but frozen seafood and undercooked chicken (with stringy rubber texture) made for a less than enjoyable experience. Went on a Friday around 4pm, was told there was a 25 minute wait. Ok, but why are 75% of the tables open? Bad staffing? So we went to the bar to get a drink - the bartender completely ignored us until we walked away 10 minutes later. The bar was full, but she was socializing with one group the entire time. Saw this place a couple of weeks ago. Thought we'd try it today for a late lunch. The Bahama Rita was very tasty and colorful, we shared one! I got the Shrimp salad, very fresh, very tasty, a nice light tasting meal on a very hot day. The roasted almonds, fresh pineapple on a fresh greens salad was wonderful. The shrimp, mango, pineapple with a touch of spice, thanks to the jalapenos was a great meal. My husband got the crab/shrimp quesadillas and they were nice and crisp and just plan yummy. First of all their sanitation rating is listed as a 94.6-pretty low and def caused us concern off of the bat. The atmosphere is great, the waitress was NOT. She spent most of her time out of sight OR in the corner eating her own dinner. Secondly, we had to ask for more water and were ignored by her most of the time we were here. Thirdly, our food was cold when it finally arrived at our table and we politely sent it back to the kitchen. We had to ask for our check 20 mins after finishing our meal and noticed on the check we were charged twice for one of the dishes...needless to say it was not a pleasant experience...the food was okay...not amazing but okay for chain resturant food (Ive eaten at a bahama breeze previously). It seems like the waiters/wait staff just isnt attentive and inexperienced. We are unhappy! Talked to manager Brian...he was very helpful and aplogized for the experience. While spending the weekend in Raleigh visiting the museums, we decided to have a late lunch on Saturday, February 28th (2:45 P.M.) at Bahama Breeze. We were surprised to find the parking lot full and people waiting inside and out. A prominent sign cautioned diners not to drink and drive. After a 30 minutes wait we were seated; another 30 minutes and we were served. Good food in attractive, comfortable surroundings. When we left at 4:15 a lot more people were waiting for seats. I love Bahama Breeze. Their drinks are great and they have some of the best jerk chicken I've ever had. I prefer to go in the Spring and Summer month to really enjoy the experience, but they come through for me no matter what season I stop in. I was apart of a party of 3, arriving to the restaurant at 3pm. We were sat immediately in the outside area, we didn't ask to be sat out there but we just decided to go with it. We sat at our table for at least 25 mins just to see how long it'd take a server to come and at least greet us. It never happened. We got up and returned to the host stand and asked if we could sat in the inside because it was cold and we never had a server come and greet us in the 25 mins we had been sitting there. Cierra the host is very sweet. She apologized and sat us in the inside with no problem. We get to our table they tell "Missy" that she had just got sat but she exclaimed "I have this 13 top, I can't take them", mind you we've been servers before so we understand that it might take awhile for the orders and stuff to come out. We didn't mind waiting but the least she could do was greet us. The host Cierra came back to our table and said she was going to help her out by getting our appetizers and drinks. Destiny, also very sweet, came and greeted us and brought us some plates for when our appetizers come. This all happened in a spans of about 15 mins and we've yet heard from our official server. Missy constantly walked by our table and never said anything to us. Only tending to her 13 top and other tables she had. It was like we were invisible to her. 10 minutes go by, we get our appetizer and water. We ordered bar drinks but never got them. After Missy was done serving drinks and getting orders for her 13 top, about 15 minutes have passed, and she comes to our table and says "what can I get you", yet to even introduce her self, I asked for a manger. The culinary manager came to us and we spoke to her about the issues we had and she was very understanding and took care of the tab of our appetizer and water. We decided not to continue to eat there because who knows how long we would've been sitting there again. Also the only way I figured out Missy's name was because I asked the host. I realize there is a worker shortage in restaurants and other businesses, but this was just ridiculous. They should have closed the place until they could handle any type of crowd. We had 6:00 reservations, didn't get seated until 6:40-reason was they only had 4 waiters. The patio was closed, most of the tables were empty and the bartender was clearing tables. The food was ok, not as good as it was when we dined there before and was slow, slow, slow getting to the table. I'm not blaming the staff, it's a popular restaurant and they can't handle the crowds without a decent staff. The hostess was so frustrated I felt bad for her.
