How have I never heard of this chain before?! Bahama Bucks has apparently been in the valley longer than I've lived here. And being from Tucson, I totally appreciate shaved ice drinks. Plenty of Phoenicians know about Eggee's from the Old Pueblo. But that's like comparing apples to oranges. Bahama Bucks doesn't serve sandwiches. But they do serve a dizzying array of ice cold drinks featuring everything from coffee to sour sprinkles. The menu looks like it has hundreds of flavors. And that's just the shaved ice! There are literally too many possible drink options to try to explain here. Suffice it to say, you could visit a Bahama Bucks three times a day for an entire summer and enjoy a different drink every time and not come close to tasting everything they offer. On my most recent visit, I enjoyed their equivalent of a root beer float. Yes, shaved ice drinks can be creamy. They can also be incredibly sour. My company had a drink that tasted like concentrated sour patch kids. The menu is pretty original. And you gotta love the little umbrellas! Bahama Bucks is fortunate we live in Arizona. Every time I come to this location I order the same thing, tropical blue coconut with tropical cream and vanilla ice cream at the bottom. And every single time I have to ask them to remake it because I only get flavoring on the very top and the rest is all ice with barely any ice cream at the bottom. It's starting to become really annoying too and I don't think I'll ever come back here. And by the looks of the reviews a lot of people have the same problem, so they know that this problem is happening and they are still doing the same thing over and over again. If anyone is disappointed about not being able to go to this place anymore but are still wanting the shaved ice with ice cream I 10/10 recommend going to Tropical Sno. They get my order right every time and they have TONS of flavors. So much better than this place. read more

Finally tried the place for the first time they didn't disappoint us. Didn't know they existed until recently after our regular place closed. Very tasty. there's almost too many flavors to choose from and they go all out on sizes from small to avalanche size that's 44 ounces might seem a little bit pricey but well worth it. Five people service was very fast and they even have a drive-through. read more

If you like shaved ice or snow cone type treats this is your place. We had a wave bender and Oreo smoothie. Not cold and a nice treat for a hot summer day. We have been here many times and enjoy their treats but their hours are super inconsistent and their closing staff is really pushy. As an example, we arrived at 9:15 on a Saturday night with our group of 7. We walked in and were told we could not order inside because they were closing the dining room in 10 min. I said no problem, we will take ours to go. We were told no and told we had to wait in an epic drive thru line. We did and while sitting there watched as carload after carload was turned away from the dining room. They locked the doors and put up a sign. Most did not opt to wait in the long line. Huge loss of business. The next time we went with our large group was again, just after 9. We ordered and patiently waited, it took 15 min to get our orders but no big deal. My husband and I went to sit outside to enjoy ours, and a worker rushed out to tell us we could only sit there for 10 min because they were bringing them inside. Why are you bringing the outdoor furniture in 20 min before the dining room closes? I just don't get it. Each time we go, we have a large party, and each time we never know what we are going to get. It's hard to want to keep spending $50 a visit at this location when they are so inconsistent and frankly treat their customers like a nuisance. The locations in Mesa and Gilbert/Chandler areas are far and away more pleasant. read more

I was super disappointed to have the cashier to be so ugly to me when I accidentally said strawberry lemonade instead of pink lemonade... well I'm sorry I misspoke! Then I was chastised for scanning my app QR code too soon! Then to top (or actually NOT top it off) they made my sno come a flat top!!!! I did not want a flat top! The shaved ice is absolutely delicious which made us so sad that we had an incident the other day when we were there. Because they tend to have a very young staff with a little supervision of an actual adult, it was very hard to have our issue addressed. My son was drinking his smoothie through a straw and all the sudden sucked up a piece of plastic, like saran wrap. Then I took a sip of it, and I hooked up a piece of plastic. I put the plastic in a napkin to bring up to the counter and show the staff member. She was very young and literally had no response. Sat there with her mouth open and couldn't get a word out to even expressed anything. She finally ended up apologizing and then tried to offer me a new one. I said I was not looking for a refund or anything for free I just wanted them to know so it didn't happen again and a young child didn't choke on plastic in their food. By far the worst shaved ice I've gotten from here. Pretty much got a cup of ice no flavoring. That's plain ice at the bottom about half of the cup. Blue raspberry flavoring is definitely not supposed that light of blue and toasted coconut is like a dirty white. Very disappointed. read more

My love affair with Bahama Bucks ended today when the drive through line ceased to move. I was behind one car, placed my order, and was told I would receive my total at the window. 20 minutes later I was still behind the same car with 10 more behind me. When I FINALLY reached the window, I was given a total of $14.42 for one regular 1/2 strawberry/1/2 vanilla soft serve. I could have a sit down meal for that price. Needless to say, after 1/2 hour of being second in line and waiting for my refund, I left empty handed. I won't be back and I'm sad to let them go. read more

The treats my mother and I got were very tasty. That is not the issue with this place. My drink took 15 minutes to come out (with no line) and took almost another 15 minutes before my mom's came out. They were incredibly understaffed with only 2 people working the whole store. As someone who's worked in food service for over 5 years now, it's unacceptable to have two drinks take a half hour to make. A big fan of this place- I had a craving that couldn't wait a day, so I drove to my favorite snow spot! As I pull into the drive thru I notice their house is FULL to the max and outside too. I begin to look at the menu and make sure I know what I am gonna order ( The Mangonada always ) A lady on the intercoms says Hi I'll be with you shortly . Then young man comes out and says I am sorry due to new school hours we close at 10. My response was no a lady said she'll be right with me. He explained again and I begged him to fulfill my craving , he smiled and said hold on. The lady comes on the intercom and says I'm sorry we are closed. I responded with " okay, maybe you can shut the drive thru menu off like other drive thrus, just because there are more people behind me." The lay said oh okay , I was really confused and let down . So I pulled off to the side and opened my Yelp- just to let people know they closed earlier( I use my maps and the time hadn't been updated yet ) Then I look to my left and the staff is serving the other cars!!!!! I then begin to get angry and have never felt more disregarded. I wrote a review on the situation with pictures to show i wasn't making a story. By the time a reached the stop light I had a message waiting for me on Yelp.. the manager/owner reached out and as late as it was even spoke to his staff- longest story short , it was a HUGE misunderstanding . The cars behind me were not very nice and the employees felt obligated to attend to them. The manager / owner made it right !! I love Bahama Bucks and was so excited this location opened up.. we have been here every Sunday for the last 3 weeks and each time it takes 15 minutes at minimum in the drive thru for 1 shaved ice, this is with or without a car ahead of us. The staff is super sweet, but there's got to be a faster process. Today we are currently in line and have been waiting 20 minutes and counting, with 2 cars that were ahead of us. Pulled up 30 minutes to close, way to excited for a smoothie to only be told to drive off as they claimed they were too understaffed to serve us because they were closing soon. I'm sorry? Making two drinks will set you back maybe 2 minutes with your closing.. Not to even mention I traveled over 15 miles at a time I knew I could make it to Bahama's before they closed.
