After playing at the park we needed something to cool us down, so my daughter & I came to Bahamas bucks! We ordered two baby cups (one unicorn & one sugar free strawberry). My daughter says that it's so good! Surprisingly mine was good considering it is sugar free! I love the theme here as well everything just intertwines so nicely, the service was fast! The guy working here was very sweet & I guess he overheard my daughter talking about wanting a pink umbrella in hers and he added a pink one for her. Just such a nice experience here. read more

MORE VARIETY OF CUP SIZES AT THIS LOCATION. This store is conveniently located off Bandera Rd in a nice small shopping plaza. They have a drive thru that's somewhat awkwardly designed. When I drove into the parking lot, I had to do a 3-point turn in order to have my car situated correctly for the drive through. They off an "avalanche" or 44oz sized option which other locations don't! I've been her many times and the staff are very friendly and I always get multiple punches on my rewards punch card. We walked into the store and right away the smell was horrible. We thought it smelled like really old mop water in there. The girl at the counter asked if we were picking up an order. And we told her no, she immediately told us that we could not order or eat inside. I'm not sure why they are still doing this, Covid cannot rule our lives. Many other businesses are open for indoor dining. Why can't Bahama Bucks open? Since we had a gift card we went ahead and waited in the horrendous line. The way the parking lot and the businesses are set up really does not work well, just like all the other reviews say about that. There were several I would say teenagers working. As I watched the young man wipe our cups off with a dirty rag I wanted to leave. All I could think about was dirty smelly water. This isn't the first time I have been here and it smelled like that. Our two items ordered didn't have much flavor on them, as the center was still clear. Over all not a good experience, and the person who went with me had never been to Bahama Bucks. This place freakin' smacks! I can't believe I didn't discover how awesome this spot is until recently... well, as of few months ago. I've been to several shaved ice spots and these guys nail it with the right ice consistency and flavors. My husband and I share a small with pineapple, passion fruit, and mango flavors plus condensed milk (can't forget this- it's too good). Wow, the person who gave us our order the first time we came made it very well. There was condensed milk with each bite which was heavenly. The ice is shaved so well- reminds me of shaved ice from Maui which gives me nostalgia. I'm giving this place four stars simply b/c they aren't doing dine-in (terrible). So, you have to wait close to 30 minutes before getting your order but if they were open inside like most places are now, wait time would be cut in half (or more). Service was slow, workers looked to be on crack and were just messing around. The actual snocones we got we're watery and dry at the same time (weird). This is an update. I avoided the place after my last experience but due to some medical stuff happening to me I had to eat something super sour around 9pm one night and trekked back to where it all began. I appreciate the fact they have a drive thru which makes life easier. And even better I've found my holy grail of flavors - super sour grape and super sour cherry. I'm a simple girl with simple tastes. Who knew? It really does help to try a bunch of different flavors over time. While I usually stick to my favorite flavors I make an effort to try a new one since they have so many. One of my mistakes was to assume flavors that I normally like would translate into a sno cone and that isn't necessarily always the case. For example I love Margaritas but their Margarita snow cone flavor is terrible to me and I don't normally like grape flavored but I do at Bahama Buck's because it tastes awesome. For me it's been a lot of trial and error and I'm glad I gave this place another shot. I've become a regular which has been shocking to both me and my partner after my intense disliking of it. My only suggestion for improvement is that there isn't always consistency in the larger sizes in terms of the flavor intensity. Meaning that the baby and small sizes are always intense with flavor and flooded with lots of the bottle pours. The larger sizes tend to have white spots of where there wasn't enough of the liquid poured over the ice. As a result I tend to stick with the smaller sizes. Also I was happy to find out that they make all of their flavors in house 100% homemade and they don't use artificial flavors - at least that's what I was told and I hope that's true. Since I gave a terrible rating before I wanted to update my review with a new rating based on my current experience. read more

For a gal who is constantly craving BB's, I realize I'm only giving them three stars. Why is that? Because unfortunately, I have to agree with Jaclyn - there have been at least a couple of visits where it was sticky and used napkins where on almost every table. On one occasion, my family & I saw at least two or three girls getting into what seemed to be an impromptu wet t-shirt contest - flinging syrup on each other. One of the girls had a good amount poured on to her and yes, it was obvious even when she dried herself off that something was thrown on her. It's almost always packed silly - the line(?) to the drive-thru is somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle when people are coming in from at least two to three different directions trying to wait in their vehicles... then with regular traffic coming in and out from the different businesses in the shopping area... the logistics are horrible. Now for the good: I love the blue coconut. Sure, it's nothing to write home about for some folks but I don't know... I drink it like a crackhead craves crack. My next favorite flavor: snickerdoodle. I love the ice - flaky like Hawaiian Shaved Ice. And anyone who knows me knows I will just eat ice like it's going out of style. But then add blue coconut or snickerdoodle to it and you've lost me. The line can get long in the drive thru, but the teenagers who work here are very courteous and professional. My personal favorite is a large, strawberry flavored Bahama Bucks snow cone with pickle juice, Tagine and chamoy. Make sure you get the punchcard because these snow cones are addictive!!! Typically they've got a great product and they know it. I am annoyed that they still haven't opened take out with inside ordering, because the parking lot isn't set up for a line at their drive thru. It either blocks the entire business park, or the entire side street, because they set up the direction of their lane backwards. Even then, because of the strength of their snow cones I'd still give it 4 stars. Unfortunately this latest time we went I got an avalanche blue snow cone and towards the middle of my treat, I found plastic wrap. A chunk of it, that if one of my kids had accidentally taken a sip of and not known to spit it out, could have easily sent us all to the hospital or worse. I reached out to management about it, and have heard nothing, which is frustrating. So I guess if you value your kids' lives, stay away from this Bucks. Plus I got my wisdom teeth taken out this week, so hopefully there wasn't any bacteria on there giving me an infection. read more

Always great customer service here. When it gets crazy busy, I kind of just avoid it unless I have the time & patience that day to wait. They can't help it though, the shaved ice is delicious. When driving down Bandera one day, I almost caused an accident because I saw the "Bahama Bucks" sign glowing in the distance, like a beacon of hope. (Dear reader, please refer to my other review of a Bahama Bucks franchise in El Paso if you have any doubts in the legitimacy of this claim.) I strolled in with a friend, maybe with a hint of arrogance because I knew how awesome my friend would think this place was. The line was semi-long, nothing too bad. I ordered my go to mango, chamoy, and chili. What could go wrong, right? Wrong. I got my order and realized there was chamoy but no chili. Cue me askin' the young lady behind the counter if she could grace my shaved ice with some chili. CHILI. I get it back, first spoonful and it's sour, not spicy. She put LIME salt on it. Not just a little, a lot. I ended up having to scrape off the whole top of my snow cone because it was inedible. It's cool, this time I let it slide. Second visit was none the better. It was packed and it was hot. I understand they're trying to mimic the "surfer" atmosphere with the decor, but that doesn't mean we have to sweat to get the full effect. The line took about 30 minutes to get through (yes I timed it, yes I'm THAT girl). I ordered really slow and made sure they wrote chili on my cup and watched it's progress. The shaved ice was fine, but I had plenty of time to observe the unprofessionalism and filth before I ordered and that is what has stuck out to me ever since. Bahama Bucks is the quintessential summer job, I get it. It DOES look like a fun place to work. But when you have 7 or 8 cars in your drive thru and a line 15-20 people deep, it is not the appropriate time to start a snowball fight, no matter the amount of ice at your disposal. People are waiting, it's blistering hot inside, and you're goofing off. Not to mention the stations are FILTHY. absolutely, abhorrently gross. Trash is overflowing, there is mud on the floor from the dirty sneakers and ice being thrown around. It left a really bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). The kids were totally unprofessional, throwing around F bombs and dirty jokes, as though they weren't being heard by their customers. I'm okay with giving high schoolers an opportunity to earn money and learn how to work hard, but when there is no adult supervision or authority figure, things are bound to go array. Sad to say, I will most definitely NOT be returning to this Bahama Bucks anytime soon. Being from Hawaii where shave ice is everywhere, I would have to say this place is sitting on the fence with me. Sure, the syrups are great and they add ice cream (original snow cones don't have it) but then again I could get that done just about anywhere if I asked. That part that bugs me about this place is that the line is utterly ridiculous! I think we waited in line inside for about 30 minutes before ordering and the drive thru was wrapped around the building! The staff working there was very nice but I swear nobody looked over 18! Probably explains why some of them were throwing syrup on each other. What a waste of product! The shaved ice is decent, I am definitely used to a different type of texture ice but hey, it's just frozen water, right? The many different flavors looked good, I just stuck with blue coconut and cherry with some ice cream in it. Can't believe it cost more than my drink at Starbucks though! I don't even wait in Starbucks for that long to get my addict's coffee every day. I know everyone is probably going to complain about my review but I honestly do not care. Bahama Bucks is seriously one of the coolest places I've seen in a long time. I don't like snow cones THAT much.. but when I crave one, I usually just go to Sonic. My whole opinion on snow cones has officially changed as of yesterday when I tried Bahama Bucks for the first time. We went on a Sunday at 8PM and were pretty shocked it was open. The place was freaking, ridiculously packed. The drive thru was so long, the line inside was extremely long. We waited probably 30 minutes in the drive thru just for a snow cone. Call us lame and I totally agree with you. For the staff being so completely overwhelmed with how busy it was (I'm assuming it's not usually this busy, ever, especially on a Sunday night) they were sure as hell friendly. The manager even explained she was trying to get more staff out and she apologized for the long wait. Was 30 minutes a long time to wait for a snow cone? YES. Was it totally worth waiting for? YES! I feel a bit weird rating a snow cone on such a high level, but my oh my, it deserves it. The ice is so thinly shaved, it melts in your mouth. I hate when I have to bite chunks, because it hurts my teeth which is why I'm not such a big fan of snow cones, but this is completely different. Plus the flavoring is really yummy. I love strawberry but they have PLENTY to choose from and some mixed snow cones that you can choose from as well. The reason why I'm giving only four stars is because of the wait. Thankfully we were in the drive-thru which moved significantly faster than the people inside. They waited 45 mins to an hour for a snow cone. In my opinion, way too long. Hopefully in the future they are able to be more staffed to make the lines move quicker. I've been a fan of Bahama Bucks since it arrived in Amarillo, Texas so many years ago. A snowcone stand open YEAR ROUND? I couldn't believe my luck. Fast forward 13 some odd years, and I am still a proud supporter of this chain. I know that San Antonio has SO many other raspa and snowcone offerings, but Bahama Bucks still brings it. AND they have sugar free flavors, which I am all about. And in true SATX fashion, this one (and one out in the northeast) offers a picadilly option on top of any flavor snowcone. Yes! Whoever thought to add all of these delicious toppings to an already delicious snowcone, and THEN add pickles is genius. (Also, I think I'm just really excited about snowcones because I'm using lots of caps. I apologize.) They also have a frequent customer card, which they will give you double points if you go on cold days. I can't remember the exact temp it has to be below, and it doesn't happen too often here in south Texas, but it's still a nice perk. 3 stars because I have been here before and got decent, not great, service. When I visited the second time, on March 2, 2019, it was busier. Almost all the tables inside were full and the drive thru had about 3-4 cars in line. My family and I walked in and the first thing we noticed was a very strong and very odd smell. My husband wanted to leave because the smell was too much. I stood there waiting, looking at the menu for about 2 minutes before we were even acknowledged. The 2 workers there were too concerned about the drive-thru orders to pay attention to us. Shaved ice is good but the lack of service and the smell drove us away. I'll come back again because the product is good but hopefully it'll be a better experience (without the smell and bad service). read more

The lobby at this location is still not open, only for online orders. (Which you pick up inside and can just place while you are there for instant pickup, so it absolutely makes no sense.) The owners here clearly don't have a lot of common sense. Always amazing and super messy. Lines are never short so don't expect to get in and get out. Only Texans will eat a snow cone dead in the middle of winter. But then again we really don't have winters. These are good year round. I'm glad they finally jumped on the Piccadilly bandwagon!!! I mean who doesn't want a sno cone with chopped pickles, chili powder and chamoy. The super sour red raspberry and pineapple makes an amazing combination. I always order a super sour and sweet flavor. The ice is finely shaven and perfect. If you're taking it to go you can opt for a bigger cup and you won't have the cone on top which makes it messy.
