Yesterday, we went to the Whiskey Run side of the business. I love the atmosphere and gorgeous scenery here! It's nice on a summer day to sit outside and listen to music. Plus your kids can safely run and play and explore the vineyard. Bring some games for them like cards, bubbles or a ball to play catch. The drinks are good - I tried You're The One complete with a rubber duck and the Lemon Drop. I have to admit I was disappointed with the service on a holiday weekend. People either need to wait in line or order at at bar. They were letting people do both and it caused long waits and was upsetting to most guests. I know people can call in, so trying to be understanding of the short staff. But the way it was handled left a bad taste in our mouths, even with great tasting cocktails. Seriously if you haven't checked out this lovely spot, you are missing out. Great for families, friends, dates and more. It gets busy in the summer so be prepared for that if you come. Today I stopped by to pick up my wines for the wine club which is no fee to join. Just pay for your wines Everett quarter and you get free tastings when you visit , a free glass on your birthday and a percentage off when you buy bottles. Lots of great choices for food too. I enjoy their pizzas and many of their sharable options. The Pepperoncini - Pepperoncini, hand cut pepperoni & mozzarella on a thin crust has a nice kick of heat to it on this chilly day. read more

Total hidden gem in the New Glarus area! This is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. It truly felt like I was on a vacation. There was live music out back on a Friday night. This review is only based on service! I really had high hopes for this winery. We arrived on a Saturday about 11am on Octoberfest weekend. It was fairly crowded already but we were able to find space at the bar. We noticed there was only 1 bartender and after a while she came over and told us she was not doing any tastings because she was too busy since she was the only server. That was disappointing since we saw other people doing wine tastings. We knew it would take a while to even get a glass of wine or any food. As we were leaving it was getting super crowded. Why not be fully staffed on an event weekend? We hope to give them another try as their location is beautiful, overlooking the rolling hills of New Glarus. read more

How have I not reviewed Bailey's Run yet? I love this place! Okay, they do have the new Whiskey Run, which is another reason why this place is awesome. You can get great wine and whiskey, along with local craft beer and handmade craft cocktails; so why aren't you there right now?! :-) I live in DC and see my husband's family in this area each summer. I always make a point to visit Bailey's....they had me at naming a vineyard after your dog. I love my dogs and try to take them on as many trips with us as possible. I also love wine and whiskey...this is clearly my kind of place. Look, I lived in northern California circa early 2000s and I came to like robust red wines. I understand, not everyone likes that end of the wine spectrum and that is great because Bailey's has a wine variety for almost any palette. White, red, blush, dry or juicy... they have you covered. Oh, and they have a whole line of bubbles, so mimosa folks, comeon over! If wine is not your thing, they have local craft brews and walk down the hallway to the huge whiskey and restaurant space. Get a craft cocktail. You won't be disappointed. Definitely get some food too. The pizzas are my favorite, but there is a great menu for the winery and even larger menu for the restaurant inside Whiskey Run. I came here after visiting New Glarus with my mother. She is more of a wine drinker than a beer drinker, so this seemed like a perfect fit. I have really missed the farm-type wineries and breweries so common out east and was really excited to try Bailey's Run! Overall, it did not disappoint. I had my two dogs with me, who were allowed on the outside patio but not allowed inside. The weather was nice and we found a nice spot with a great view (thanks to some of the shade it provided, otherwise it might be a bit warm out in the yard itself). Thankfully I had my mother with me so we could order inside while someone stayed with the dogs. Doesn't seem like a place I could venture to on my own with the pups after a hike, but I definitely would like to visit many more times in the future... I'll just make sure to bring a second human. We ordered one of the flatbreads, and it was DELICIOUS. We were supposed to go to dinner not super long after we visited, but even so couldn't resist finishing the entire flatbread (a great serving size for two people... maybe one if you're really hungry). It had been so hot and sunny out during the day, a cold wine slushie sounded so perfect. Unfortunately, it was so sweet and sugary it was a bit of a challenge to get through. Both my mother and I agreed that if it hadn't been so sweet, we would probably have stayed and ordered a second one. If I visit again I'll probably have to stick with one of the wines (which I'll be excited to try!). Either way, I definitely plan to visit again. Great place for live music! It can get pretty crowded, so come early. Pizza is good, but took about 35 minutes to come out.

After hiking at the nearby state park we headed over to Bailey's for some wine and music on a very pleasant Sunday afternoon. Given it was pretty warm out we were glad for the cloud cover and breeze or it would have been too hot to sit out there for long. We arrived about 45 minutes before the music was to start so we were able to get decent parking and a good place on the lawn. By the time we left two hours later the lower parking area was jammed. The music was good and the wine OK but the view and the whole ambiance was the winner. We did not order food but it looked like pizza was the main attraction. The staff was friendly and for the most part looked prepared for the good size crowd. We will definitely return when the weather is nice. read more

I went here to check out the views and try their wood-oven pizza. Both exceeded my expectations! The place is surprisingly huge inside and out, with tables galore. My husband and I consider ourselves staunch pizza critics, and were both very impressed by Bailey's Run pizza. It was just the right thinness, crispy, toasty, just the right amount of fresh toppings, in other words "perfect." I really can't suggest any improvements at all. Great job Bailey's Run!! I visited here with my mother on a lovely late summer day. We did the wine tasting. People were being socially distanced at the bar and had to wait for open spots. Servers were wearing masks. There were several decent wines and not all of them were sweet, despite a review to the contrary. They offer an interesting jalapeno wine that they use in a Bloody Mary. We did not try food. The grounds are lovely with a view over the vineyard. The tables outside did appear to be self-bussed and non-sanitized while we were there, so points off for that. read more

Everything about this little Swiss town and the vineyard itself is just awesome. I got a great day for a debut visit with sun and clear skies to amplify the views of the rolling hills and vineyard. The backside outdoor seating perches visitors at the top of such hills overlooking the vineyard front, left and right. Its like a small piece of Napa right there in New Glarus, Wisconsin I do not kid you. The red wine sampler is great if your a red fan like me. The Sabrevois was my winner in the end. Got a bottle to go in fact. Bailey the namesake of the business is the family dog and she is the star celebrity let me tell you. I got to meet her in person myself in fact. The owners Todd and Janet are amazing people, so passionate and kind. They have a vision of what the place can be and how to get it there. I love helping give my business to places/people like this who care so much about the product, the people and the place they do business no matter how hard and long the work is. Julianna is also an amazing bar staff member you gotta ask for when doing your tasting. Her storytelling ability of each wine is both theatrical but also insightful and a bit historical. The story behind the bottle as I call it. You taste the wine differently when you know the origins of it. Go, see, enjoy, drink. My husband and I decided to head out to New Glarus for dinner and drinks so we could try Bailey's Run. I had recently read about it in a local blog that I follow, as it looked cool. Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed. We found a spot and headed inside the rustic barn. As we made our way to the counter, we were surprised to learn that there were many more wines than we thought. We each chose a glass of wine and sat down to wait for the margherita and sweet Italian pizzas. They were delicious! The fresh basil on the margherita really tied the whole pie together. I am so incredibly disappointed. We walked in and had to figure out where to go and what to do. Got to the counter and asked if they had burgers as we believe this location was "Whiskey Run". We went to the counter and expressed that we had never been there and that we thought they served burgers. She only said "no" and that what was on the menu was what they had. We ordered crappy apps and a couple pizzas. Well, it turns out that they did sell burgers. You just had to go to the other bar behind them in the same building. Their communication was terrible! And frankly, I feel like they ripped us off. Too bad, because I would have liked to give them a good review. This California girl was basically raised on wine. It's been at nearly every meal in my adult-life and something I enjoy dearly. So I was excited to find there was a winery in Wisconsin near to where my sister lives. We set out to New Glarus for a day of fondue, Spotted Cow and wine. We found the New Glarus brewery was closed until October. But we were able to feast on fondue in the city. After which we drove up the hill to Bailey's. Keep in mind you'll want to drive, this walk would be brutal! The tasting room and surrounding areas was beautiful! A nice hill and view of the vineyards below was a great ending to the day. And if this review were on the views alone, it would be five stars. The wine itself was not quite there. And while I understand that Wisconsin wine isn't quite California wine, most were just to sweet for my liking. Even the "Dry" wines were sweet! About the only wine that wasn't too harsh was the Petite Pearl - a fruit forward red aged in French Oak and Bourbon barrels, so the smoke is pushed forward pretty heavily. The service was the most disappointing. It took far too long to be acknowledged and after menus were provided to us it took another period of time for anyone to come around. By then two of those in our party opted to not get a tasting flight and head outside. I definitely don't consider myself impatient, but a tasting flight shouldn't take over an hour. Especially when the majority ended in the dump bucket. I would definitely suggest visiting. But if you're anything like me on wines, you'll want to stick with the dry list. Or maybe just stick to a glass of the Petite Pearl. read more

A LOT of wines to choose from, and a lovely setting in which to drink it. We stopped in, meeting up with a friend, after an already full day of tourist-ing in the general area. She suggested this after a drop in at New Glarus, and as it is a mere 7 minute drive away, we quickly said "Absolutely yes! See you there!" They have ample parking, lots of space indoors, and quite a bit of outdoor seating. We wanted to do a tasting flight so we sidled up to the bar and got to marking what wines we wanted to try. The woman helping us was cheerful and friendly, happy to give recommendations when we asked but also not too pushy. We eventually landed on a kind that we all liked, so we ordered a bottle to share out on the wrap-around porch out to the back, to enjoy the weather and the fantastic company. All in all, it was an exceptionally pleasant afternoon, with delicious wines to drink. If you are already in the area, I would definitely recommend paying them a visit. I came here with three girlfriends for a wine tasting on a Saturday afternoon pre-Christmas. There was live music and it was hoppin'! Even though they seemed very busy and possibly understaffed, it was worth it to be patient and wait our turn. At the bar, we were greeted and treated with some really great service, and even more fun wines! I wish I remembered which ones I selected, but all of the white wines and blushes were super flavorful. My personal favorite was an almondy white wine. Another favorite included a sparkly seasonal white that I bought three bottles of to gift for Christmas. We enjoyed pizzas and a mulled wine after the tasting while we listened to more music! I am surprised that I haven't been here before, honestly. I can't wait to come back in the summer! read more

I think this is a new favorite Madison area vineyard for me. Pulling up to it with its glowing strings of lights on the patio and beautiful building made it so inviting and magical feeling. The wines were fantastic. 6 tastings for $5 is a great deal and each and every wine was so unique. They also have a nice small selection of appetizers so we got their new pulled pork nachos. They were definitely good but not as memorable as the wines, great service from Julianna, and scenic giant patio overlooking tons of green and trees and rolling hills. I can't wait to bring friends and/or family here and share this with them - I think it's a gem! We drove from IL only to find out they weren't doing tasting today. Nothing posted about that!! Line was 20+ minutes long. Menu at the spot just before you order so that threw us. Only two people working behind the bar and one seemed to be in training. A super busy Saturday might not be the best time to do training. I heard several people say this in line. Ordered two glasses one was okay one not so much but.. I'd say management needs to step up their game here. read more
