Decided to stop on our way from Madison to Monroe . Nestled along the Sugar River in Paoli Wisconsin,this is a small Tap room that offers outdoor and indoor seating and live music on the weekends . Hops are locally grown and beer is brewed in small batches. My wife was excited they had Gluten Free beer. We bought a few bottles to bring home. Cost 6.00 each. Small local craft shops are scattered thru out the area along with a kitchen featuring smoked pork and brisket. We had heard about the beer garden/music venue outside along the Sugar River in Paoli but had never got down here until this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day to sit outside (early enough that the skeeters weren't yet biting) and listen to music. We decided to get some beer from the Hop Garden which is one of a number of food and drink choices here. We got a pitcher of their lager which was very refreshing. One in our group got their shandy which in this case was a light lager mixed with a kombucha. Not my thing but they liked it. Great atmosphere on a nice summer day. My wife and I stayed down the street from Hop Garden over MDW. We decided to try it one night and so happy that we did. The beer is delicious and you can tell they care about their product when brewing. We chatted a bit with the owner who let us know a bit of the history and business model they have - it's a small but mighty operation. They have a huge outdoor seating area with tons of live music. This is one of our favorite places in the summer, as their outdoor beer garden is spectacular under the trees, along the river, dog friendly, and typically with live music. We even bike there sometimes. We were in the area this winter and stopped by and enjoyed our indoor visit as well! They have a few tables and simple games and the historical building is fun to explore as there are multiple seating areas depending on what type of vibe you are looking for. The building itself connects indoors to a cute shop as well and there are plenty of nearby areas to grab and bring in food. They are dog friendly and have water bowls as well as treats for your furry friends, and I've always had friendly bartenders who are willing to let you try beer samples to ensure you get something you like. The hops are grown locally and the beer is made in small batches so it rotates between visits. We had the best afternoon at the Hop Garden. A hidden gem in Paoli that will get quite busy on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Lots of beer choices, a few wines and seltzers. If that isn't your thing (I'm not a beer fan), try out the My Tipsy Gypsy for liquor/adult capri sun pouches. We tried the blueberry Moscow mule, blueberry lemonade and a gin one. All phenomenal! When you get hungry, check out the Mexican food spot right on location. I loved the street corn so much I didn't even take a photo. They have live music on the weekends and it's very dog friendly! Great little brewery and tap room. Lots of outdoor seating also next to the Sugar River. Service was superb. Beers excellent. Low prices. Taproom is in a rustic building in historic Paoli surrounded by boutique businesses including an ice cream shop, chocolate store, women's clothing store, and taqueria. Top floor of their building is the Mill House Retreat, a highly rated AirBnB location. They'll be starting up live entertainment soon so we'll have to make sure we don't miss that. This is definitely my new favorite place! My sister-in-law invited my husband and I last Friday for some drinks and music. The atmosphere is laid back and the area is beautiful! The entire town of Paoli is so charming, and Hop Garden is no exception. Being right on the river is incredibly peaceful. The beer is great, the taqueria is delicious, and the gift shop is a true gem! Stop in for free whiskey and gin tasting, you won't be disappointed. I ended up buying a bottle of the rhubarb and ginger gin. I'm already a big gin fan, but this handcrafted gin is next level. We had so much fun that we are planning on heading back tonight with our kids in tow this time. I love that it's family friendly! read more

I've never been to Paoli, but I ventured out there after taking the dogs to Prairie Moraine. Dogs are allowed! It was definitely Portlandia-esque for some reason. We got there and parking was a bit confusing because you have to drive past the crowd that's sitting outside and it seemed disruptive. There was live music too, so I felt intrusive with my car. We ended up parking on a side street. The beer was pretty good! We decided to come here because we wanted to try something new. We got a shandy that had kombucha in it and a red lager. The downside is that it is not ideal at end of summer. I got eaten alive by mosquitos. It was better away from the water. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to try this place, but now that I have, I'll be back. It's just about a 15-minute drive from the west side of Madison. There's lots of seating in the area around the stage, and if you don't feel like sitting at a picnic table, you can set your own chairs out. The bartender was very happy to give me sample pours until I could decide what I wanted. They also have several non-alcoholic beers available, and the knowledge to talk about them all. We didn't try any of the food options nearby, which gives us a good reason to return! read more

What a fun spot! I took a float down the Sugar River in my kayak and ended up here. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and this was the place to be! Live music, cold beverages, and good vibes all around. I definitely plan to get back here a few more times this summer. I grabbed a summer lineup and it is stacked! Every weekend there is entertainment! This space is very welcoming - there were families with young children and pets everywhere outside. The Hop Garden is situated right next door to the Molino Taqueria and My Tipsy Gypsy, so between the three spots you have food and drink covered, whether it's a cold brew or a craft cocktail that tickles your fancy. Located behind the brat shop on the Sugar River, this is a very beautiful if not delicious stop. A smaller operation with a separate hop farm that offers tours in Bellville, there was 5 beers on tap and one kombucha. The tasting room consists of three high top tables on the lower floor and there are merchandise for sale. There was an up stairs but it was closed. Their shandy is a mix of the kombacha and ale. It had a strong vinegar smell and initial taste but was otherwise clean and crisp. The nuggetopia is their best seller and namesake. An American IPA, it's a smooth with a duller hop. The Wi Festiv Ale is their centennial, with a stronger hoppy aroma and a dry finish. Luckily the Pumpkin Ale was in tap today. They are made from pie-pumpkins from the Hop Garden farm and then smoke with apple wood. It was mild and had overpoweringly strong pumpkin pie aroma. The tap haus doesn't serve any food but the Brat House staff are happily willing to accommodate food while you sample beer. read more

Great location, beer, tacos and chocolate. What more could you want? It's right on the river. Nice open area with lots of tables in the grass. There was live music the night we were there. We just happened to find it while looking for a place to go while staying in New Glarus. Fall is a perfect time to be there. No bugs, crisp air. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Hop Garden. Really kind, friendly guys - comfy spot - live music - good beer. We were not feeling inspired to cook for ourselves one evening, so decided we'd head to Paoli to have dinner at Brat & Bread and check the Hop Garden out. It should've been perfect: beer and brats on a sunny warm spring day in Wisconsin. All signage around the brat place suggested it should be open, but, sadly, no one was inside and the door was locked. I went back and asked the friendly guys at the HG if they knew what was up. They said sometimes the owners had to step out briefly, and suggested we try back in a few minutes. To kill some time, we got drinks. HG has a modest but solid list of beer options. I got a delightful and potent stout. To help curb our hunger while we waited for more substantial food to be available, they very kindly gave us a big bowl of pretzels gratis. Really nice owners. 30 minutes later, I walked back over to try again on the dinner. Still locked and empty! Irritating. I went back and we finished our drinks. A band was setting up just as we were heading out, and we were disappointed to miss them; we had a fun time chatting with them. But, we were too hungry to stay for the show and another round. Another time. Hopefully Paoli Brat & Bread House will figure out hours that can work better for them, and/or something new and fun will open in the Cheese Cottage. This would be the perfect biking destination if Paoli could get more food going in that little space. read more

I am a little biased here. I love this place and love to support local business. We often hit this place after a motorcycle ride or kayak down the Sugar River. Live music is often available here with the only downside that weddings often happen here that can detract from a mellow time. The food from the caffe next door is great and the bread she makes is outstanding! read more

If you like hops, this place is for you. If you love hops, this place is for you too! They have a nice list of beers on tap. All have hops. I don't usually like hoppy beers, so I struggled to find a beer that would be good to try. They had a dark 50/50 option. It was still pretty hoppy to my taste buds. Please add a non-hoppy beer to your beer menu and we will become best friends! The location is fantastic and so casual! I love that it's located right on the Sugar River. We grabbed a picnic table next to the river and it was so nice. There were a lot of cyclists hanging out eating and drinking during their biking pit stop. There were leashed dogs and kids around. The ice cream shop was busy and people were casually strolling through town. So darn quaint and charming! I'm giving a 3 stars due to the selection of beer only. A few years ago, it was the trend to add as much hops as you can into a beer. I feel that this is the current trend at this place. Add another option to your menu. A sour beer, a stout, a pilsner, a porter, some meerts, etc would all be great additions! They do have a nice menu for food too. read more

Really horrible service. Waitress/Owner was very rude and bossy. We had email correspondence and mentioned our method of payment only to have a limit imposed on us at time of payment. Very unprofessional. Good selection of beers but you can get that at multiple locations in Wellington with much better service. Only come here if you enjoy rude service and mediocre atmosphere. We had 40 people and were treated rudely and with racial prejudice. I genuinely hope this bar closes down, it's a disgrace to Wellingtons excellent craft beer scene. My husband and I are new to the area and this has become our favorite place to be outside by the river in a friendly, peaceful atmosphere with good friends and really really good beer! They also have Madison's ALT gluten free beer sold in bombers, guest craft ciders, and kombucha on tap. The beer isn't bad and the outdoor space is great! If you're biking through or want to get outside of Madison, this is a great spot to grab and beer and sit at a picnic table and relax. While the don't brew the beer in house, it still has a nice vibe. The staff weren't as welcoming as I'd hoped. I think they would get more repeat customers if they engaged in conversation with folks when they are trying to determine what beer to try. read more
