We have been going to Midwestern meats for years; back when they had the restaurant where you could get a good, home cooked meal, grab a piece of pie from the bakery and then go Nextdoor to the butcher and get tomorrow nights pork chops or roast. They are under new ownership now. The restaurant is not open but every year we get our thanksgiving turkey from them; prepared to our liking. With all the sides you could think of already prepared and ready for sale. We also have purchased some outstanding cuts of beef and pork. This place is sooooo expensive. The blame is on the lack of cows supposedly but who knows. They were very generous in giving my wife a discount for having been in the RAF. Place was busy as expected 2 days before Christmas but still had plenty of stock. $37/lb is about what I paid for Black Angus Tommohawk prime steaks from Costco. Must be hard being the little guy. Because I had to cook them on a non-conventional electric grill, they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but they were still good and the bacon was perfect for the sprouts. May shop here again when visiting mom if I want higher end meat than a place like the grocery store could get you. read more

High quality meats. I dont buy meat from the groccery stores, I strictly buy it hear. The chicken is juicy & flavorful. When you cook this chicken it doesnt secrete water like the store bought nor is it stringy. I bought some ground pork and beef and made the juciest, delicious meat balls. I have been shopping this place for the past 8 years. It's changed hands from the original and yes prices go up when that happens. Always feel welcomed there and they give me a military veteran discount. The meat is the best I've gotten in the valley. They are cleaning all the time too. I appreciate them and the new owners. Ordered a four pound prime cut prime rib for Christmas for $150.00, what an embarrassment! I ended up only getting three and a half pounds because they made a mistake, they called me back knowing it was wrong. I was way too busy to go back and since it was for three, I wrongly thought it would be adequate. Although cooked between rare and medium rare, it was too tough to eat. It was not a prime cut of beef, it was so fatty and tough and not enough meat the feed two ladies and one gentleman. Midwestern meats did not return my first call to them and blew off my complaint. After being told they would let the owner know, no one ever returned my call. I cooked many prime ribs and this was not that! read more

Moving from the Midwest (ND) it's hard to find good quality meat. From the moment I walked in the door until I left I felt like I was the only one in the store when in fact it was packed. Can't beat the price for a slice of pie. For $0.99, it isn't bad and is honestly better than the $4-5 slices at Village Inn. I have to say though, it is not one of my favorites. The filling tastes like it is made from an instant mix, and the cream tasted more like whipped topping than whipped cream. Overall, the chocolate one was better than the coconut - the latter was just too sweet for me. Employees are very nice here! Love the familial vibe they have. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived. There were two tables getting ready to leave and our group sat down to order. We received our meals about 5-10 minutes apart and NONE of them were hot. The eggs, pork, chicken fried steak, French toast... EVERYTHING was cold, cheese not melted, plates not hot. I have purchase meat from her for years now. Their 1/4 cow and 1/2 pig are fantastic deals for quality meat. I also purchase a 40lb box of chicken leg meat to make my cat food every 3 weeks. First off we love the meat from this business, and have never been disappointed when we chose to dine in, but my just shy of her 88th birthday mother in law wanted to bring the pies for our somewhat big family for Thanksgiving. She ordered at least a month ahead, two pumpkin, two peach and pecan. We made arrangements for hubby to take her down there Wednesday afternoon to pick pies up and enjoy lunch. When she asked about pies she was told they had plenty of pumpkin but no peach or pecan. I hate to sound like Seinfeld but, "why take the order and not have the order?" What a disappointment, and the embarrassment on my mother in laws eyes when that was her contribution to the fantastic meal. Having in laws from the Midwest this isn't how they seem to be, I thought the Midwest meant kind, and caring. Not one person cared.
