Went again today and had a great experience. I was helped by the manager named Steven who was great. He was so friendly, engaging, appreciative of my business, and funny. Long overdue review. I love this place and come here at least once a week, sometimes twice. The employees are very nice. One girl now remembers my name, which is cool. The food is always excellent. Baja Fresh Mission Viejo location is Awesome. Thanks guys for making my enchilada style Mexican fish burrito hot and Fresh with the melted cheese. The fresh salsa bar is good but needs replacing every 2 hours. Guacamole dip is fresh and delicious. Finally the Big Fat Mexican burrito hits all the right spots. Service team staff are awesome and nice clean restaurant and restroom with plenty of free space for parking. Most guests here order takeout or pick up and go. Very few people stay and dine here for 30 minutes on Weekday at 5 pm. It's hot outside today. Overall a good experience and tasty meal for $27 American dollars and they take cash too. I wish I could give them no star! I just got back and had the worse experience of my life. Ben who took our order wasn't paying attention to us because he kept going back and forth to other guests. My husband ordered chicken lime tostada salad (mind you it was supposed to be 2 different salad which we didn't know abd BEN didn't say anything when he took the order and I ordered) I ordered chicken Baja bowl with black beans BEN kept saying no sauce for you I said no I want everything except I want black beans. The place is empty and very hot to sit inside. We went outside and our food showed up like less than 5 minutes. BEN's fingers were in our plates because he didn't put them on a tray to bring them. My husband just had the salad and we both look at each other said that's not what you ordered. I told him go and change it. That's when they told him that those two different salads so they gave my husband a Tostada shall with some black beans and told him to make the salad yourself. My husband doesn't like to sent things back he just took it and ate. I start eating it mine but there was no flavor to mine I kept putting salsa to it still no flavor. So I went I asked BEN did you give my bowl with no sauce he said nope everything is in it. And if you feel like there is nothing in it there is the salsa bar and go put some in it. This is one of my favorite fast food Mexican restaurants in the area. I come here at least once a month when I'm craving taquitos. It sounds crazy, but they have really good chicken taquitos. They also have outstanding nachos! I always order the kids meal taquitos, and it comes with 2 rolled taquitos and your choice of 2 sides. I always get the black beans and rice. It also comes with a drink, and I always select the boxed apple juice. All of this for just $6.99! Not only does it fill me up, but it's also delicious! I also get a side order of Pronto Guacamole, because you gotta have guac with taquitos, amirite? I usually place my order online and request curbside pick up. Used to love Baja Fresh in early 2000's. Always fresh quality and great sized burros. With the advent of Chipotle (back when it was good) and Baja getting cheap with chicken I stopped going. Thankfully discovered more authentic Mexican. I was extremely disappointed with my last two De Anda orders (just tiny amount of food) so decided to stop by Baja. Was very pleasantly surprised! They have several new to me burritos and taco specials. Tried the Diablo. Was not spicy AT ALL but great filling burrito. Yes it is very Americanized but with the extensive salsa bar including fresh pico de gallo I was able to get some authentic tastes. $15 for a burrito but as long as they keep the size and amount of protein I'm fine paying that price. The food is always great. The place is really clean. But what's best of all is the service. Every worker here seems to remember you by name, and your favorite orders. The service is above and beyond when they also add a few free chips here and there. I rarely come to Baja Fresh unless they have deals in the app which they almost never do, and they disclose ingredients for all their food and it isn't as clean as you'd think they be. Zero reason to put margarine in burritos. Prices have gotten quite high. I think Rubio's is better value and both give similar portion sizes. Rubio's tastes better too, and even I think Rubio's has gotten expensive recently. But Baja Fresh has decent fajitas and okay salads. I'd avoid the tacos, burritos, and bowls. The one nice thing is they still give a small bag of chips with every entree. Baja Fresh and Rubio's simply charge too much for the portions they give, and both of them are dying cause of it. read more

This was by far the worst visit I've ever had at this Baja Fresh. The food and service have clearly gone downhill when the owner isn't around. Our burritos (2 stakes and one bean and cheese) were stone cold, even after we asked for them to be made extra crispy. ( inside our wrap was not hot and outside the bread was even cold!) We had to send them back, however on the second try, they didn't even bother including half the ingredients. )my Baja Burrito had no Guacamole and sour cream! And the bean burrito had few number of beans in it!) It honestly felt like no one cared at all. To top it off, the salsa bar was disgusting -- dirty trays, empty containers, and zero effort to keep things clean. The whole place felt neglected and poorly run. This Baja Fresh location now serves a few breakfast items. Its the only one that I know of that does. I have only ordered the Baja breakfast burrito. Super fresh ingredients, however the grilled veggies weren't all the way grilled. But I would order again. The regular menu is very good. Covid review... very impressed with their mitigations. Social distancing, a tent outside to provide additional outside dining, salsas in view but handled from behind the counter, and the same for any other place customers might put their hands (plastic ware/drinks). Decent place. Good food. Unlike many places in Los Angeles this one is actually open for outdoor dining where my wife and I enjoyed lunch. Enjoyed is not really the right word for our experience though. What's going on with Mexican rock music blasting out loud here? How can anyone appreciate a meal, no matter how good it is when there is loud foreign language metal music playing in their ears? I can only suspect that a manager wasn't in for the day and some employee decided to introduce his playlist to unsuspecting customers. Wasn't fun. Very well-made food otherwise. Baja Fresh was great when they launched, then things changed when Wendy's got involved. In the end, Wendy's took a big loss on Baja Fresh, and in the end, Baja Fresh has returned to being excellent once gain. Sometimes being bought by a major Corporation (like Wendy's) ruins everything. Today, the Fresh in Baja Fresh is back, and its as good as it was when it launched years ago.
