The service here is pretty good. The guy behind the bar was cool. He didn't charge my soft drink. My quesadilla was decent. Tad bit too much frying oil on the tortilla. It definitely leaves a weird aftertaste. Decent amount of chicken and cheese. It's only about $11.01 for that Happy Hour Chicken Quesadilla. Bathrooms are clean. My half Coca-Cola/Diet was good. I stopped by Sharkeez Manhattan Beach tonight for the first time, and wow -- what a disappointment. The door guy, Tyler, decided to make a whole production out of the fact that I had my own EMPTY Costco cups and plastic straws with me. I wasn't trying to sneak in anything or cause trouble -- I just prefer to reuse my own cups and avoid the soggy paper straws that beach bars love to hand out now. Instead of a normal interaction, he turned it into a pissing contest, acting like it was a federal offense. To make it worse, they also ask to search your bag at the door. In my book, that's egregious for a beach bar. I'm not walking into a nightclub in Vegas -- it's Sharkeez. This used to be the casual South Bay hangout spot, not a TSA checkpoint with beer on tap. I used to go to the Hermosa Beach Sharkeez constantly -- probably hundreds of times over the years -- but eventually stopped because the energy there had already started to shift in the same way. Unfriendly, tense, and somehow convinced they're doing you a favor by letting you in. Something's really off with Sharkeez across the South Bay. Also I'd like to give the manager Adrian his props because he saw this interaction going south and did a fantastic job of helping afterward. I still opted to leave because I know better than to stay when the initial two interactions go south. He deserves five stars in my book but the South Bay Sharkeez have to change for sure. I walked a block away to fish bar and enjoyed my meal, my drink, and my own damn cups in peace. At this point, the vibe that made Sharkeez great is long gone -- replaced by power-tripping door staff and unnecessary rules that kill the fun. read more

This was my first time here. I came to this place tonight because my coworkers wanted to go listen to some Latin music. I was in line waiting to get in when one of the older bouncers possibly in his 40s did not let me walk in because I had a chain on. He did not even allow me to put it in my pocket. We agreed to put it in my girl coworker's purse and I was let in with bad attitude. Once heading out about 1 hour later, a group of 5 frat looking guys were trying to walk in and that same older bouncer was going to allow them in (with a chain on). My friends and I questioned why he would allow them in but did not let me earlier that night. He followed by being rude and disrespectful. Funny enough the guys had fake IDs and he couldn't even let them in to begin with. The point of this review is to voice that clearly this place does not see everyone equally and these weird bouncers feel entitled to do and say as they desire. I would not recommend. You should go out to have a good time safely, not be judged and disrespected by weird bouncers. read more

Street parking meter 2 hours until 6pm and 3 hours from 6-9pm Mon-Fri so I had to leave to refill the parking meter. Happy hour is a great value! Buy one drink, get the 2nd for 25 cents, but it is served at the same time. Happy hour food specials saves a few dollars too. Service from the bar girl was not at all a good customer experience at 4pm before the college football national championship. Eventually, I had to clean the bar I asked to be wiped off. Ambiance is a-ok. Seat itself could be a bit more comfortable but overall I was happy with the ambiance. Food was not so good. The wings are meaty and good but the garlic habanero is a little bit spicy but I expected that. The chips and guacamole were a-ok and if you want more chips just ask - I just pushed the tomatoes to the side. The chicken bites can be ordered with a side of bbq sauce and they tasted frozen so surprisingly the safest item I ordered was my least favorite. The alcohol, soda, and water was fine but it did take ten minutes to get water to help with the spicy wings and I was at a bar with like 5 of 18 seats filled before the game with one server. When the game started there were three servers and the bar was full. I like this location better than the Hermosa Beach location but I may have to order a burger or fajitas to have a better food experience. read more

I wish I knew my server name but he had short blonde hair, blue eyes and a great smile. He made me feel welcome and attentive to my needs. I order some tacos and the taquitos. The night was going well until.......Full disclaimer Ariana was great until it was time to request the bill! Story time: I'm sitting with my Cousin awaiting our bill for about 25 minutes! Before approaching us Ariana grabbed my CADL and approached a black man trying to close his bill along with my debit card and inquired if this was his bill! I respectfully called to both and the gentleman who had been with her through the 2 hours we were there attention. In which at this time the gentleman with her took my CADL and debit card from her and placed into a little folder alphabetized on the counter. When they both approached me I inquired on the proper protocols for cashing out a customers bill! She responded, "Well, I asked him if it was his and he said no!l" I responded by stating not only was that not my question but you could've asked a person with no integrity the same question and it would've resulted in me fighting with my financial institution to prove it wasn't me! How could a well loved establishment lack in such a critical area?! At least this is the understanding explained to me while awaiting my appropriate billing! In the end the gentleman explained it was policy I don't believe this to be true! Due to this I will not return as this experience has truly rubbed me the wrong way! Fraud is the prevalent and can be prevented! Went here today ... went to grab chips and salsa ... there were LIVE ROACHES crawling around on the salsa bar where the uncovered salsa is !!!!! Staff noticed the roaches several later and did not replace the uncovered salsa that was out nor did they shut down the salsa / chips area. They just wiped down the counter with water. Other patrons were eating the salsa unaware of the roaches ! Never going to eat here again !!! Plus the one in Newport Beach is better !!!! read more

The restaurant wasn't crowded and only had two people working. We went on a Wednesday. The restaurant was colorful with a cool ambiance of high tables, a circular bar and booths. We ordered our food and then the waiter took his break when we wanted to put in our order for our drinks. The waiter noticed that the other server was busy and came back over to get help us. The drinks were just okay but the margarita was very sweet. The food was good and our appetizer was served with our main dish. Make sure to tell them you want your appetizer first. The staff handled the dress code violation as best they could but I was told their management is constantly watching cameras to make sure they do. Fun vibes and good drinks walking distance to the beach! Parking is a pain in this area but your best bet is street parking on Rosecrans. They have lots of TVs playing sports and brunch on weekends. There was no line to enter, no line to get seated, and no wait before the server comes over to ask us for our drinks. Our server, by the way, was friendly, helpful and accurate. On the evening of Wednesday, March 5th, my friends and I headed to our favorite bar, Baja Sharkeyz in Manhattan Beach, for happy hour. I was carded when ordering my drinks, which is standard, but my African American friend was also carded while my Hispanic friend was not. We chuckled about it, thinking it might be because we looked younger. Still, if one person is carded, it seems only fair that everyone should be. I took advantage of the buy-one-get-one-for-25-cents deal on Cadillac margaritas. After sitting down for just a couple of minutes, I accidentally spilled one of my drinks that I hadn't even tasted yet. I managed to clean up some of the mess on my seat, but couldn't handle what fell on the floor. When I informed the bartender about it, he simply said, "Ha, I've heard that before," and walked away, leaving the spill unattended. Though I admit it was my fault for spilling, it would have been nice for him to offer a replacement, suggest I buy another, or clean the mess beside us. The bar wasn't busy, with only around nine customers inside, yet he continued to ignore the mess while cleaning other tables. I eventually had to ask another staff member to take care of it. I don't think I deserved a free drink, and I fully own my mistake. However, I was quite disappointed, as this is usually one of my favorite bars where the bartenders are friendly and accommodating. read more

We were given a table and a happy hour special for our group. Buy a cocktail at regular price get the second one for 25¢. Sign me up!! It was given to us until 10pm and our group didn't have to pay a cover and no minimum for the table. The vibe was amazing! Great music and the food was delicious. Just order before 10pm because then the kitchen closes. All in all it was great. So why not 5 stars??? It's just the parking. It was tricky to find a place to park.
