Went here last week for cinco de mayo. I knew it would be busy but decided to give it a try. They…read moresaid it would be a 30ish minute wait. Understandable. BF and I got a couple margs and waited outside. 40 mins goes by so I go in and check. They say it'll be another 20ish mins. 30 mins goes by and they say another 30 mins. Pretty hangry at this point. Again, I get its cinco de mayo. We finally get seated more than an hour and a half later. We order the guac and tortilla chips as an app. Guac wasn't bad. Chips were stale like they were out all day of cinco de mayo. My BF orders steak tacos as his entree. I order the Cochinita Pibil. "Slow cooked pork in achiote. Served with rice, beans and tortillas". We finally get that 30 mins later. His tacos were subpar to say the most. Quote "I wouldn't get tacos here again". My dish was the BLANDEST meal I've ever had in my life. It tasted like nothing. I was visibly upset when the waitress finally walked by 15 mins later and told her I couldn't eat it. She asked if I wanted something else so I told her I'd just have the steak tacos because I was starving at this point. She then asked if I wanted a box for the entree I originally ordered and I said no because it didn't taste good at all and neither of us would eat it. She began to walk away and I politely asked if she would still charge me for the cochinita pibil and she said yes so I told her I wouldn't want anything else and to just give us the check once my bf was done with his meal. She didn't pay attention to me the rest of the time we were there. She did end up charging us for that bland plate. Pretty sad. I regret not asking to talk to someone because I guarantee no one in that kitchen would have enjoyed it either, as they were all Hispanic from what I could tell. I myself am Central American so I know authentic dishes. Sad to say I will not be going back there. Good luck!

We've been to…read moreCondesa's other location in Smithfield before and had a great meal there so figured we couldn't go wrong here. Upon entering, they have a nice outdoor area to eat with playful decor that makes you feel like you're in Mexico! We were seated immediately, but we must've just gotten there at the right time cause they were so packed! Our waitress brought over water and chips and salsa and gave us a few moments to review the menu. We ordered drinks, a steak quesadilla, and the rib eye tacos and fish tacos. Food came out quick and the staff were incredibly attentive. The steak quesadilla was yummy but I wish they had the sour cream and salsa or something on the side for it. It was only drizzled on top but since they were overlapping, it didn't feel like there was enough. But that's 10000% just personal preference! it was still very delicious! The cabo fish tacos were so yummy, we got them fried and they had a good crisp to is. But the star was the rib eye tacos. SO good! the green guacamole sauce that comes with it paired so well with the rib eye flavor. Hands down my favorite of the night! both orders of tacos also came with beans and rice. We definitely had leftovers for the next day! Highly recommend this location! Staff was incredible, parking is easy, food was great!

My favorite thing to get is the single enchilada with salsa verde, which is literally under $4. The chips and queso are also super tasty. My husband always goes with one of the burritos. I also love their kids menu since my son is always down for a bean burrito and some chips. Ordering online is super easy and it is always ready when they say it will be. I've dined there a few times and its definitely a casual spot. The only downside is that parking lot gets crazy tight, so I generally prefer parking on the street.

You order at the counter, where the staff is super friendly and helpful, and they bring your food right to your table -- a nice casual touch. I tried one of each taco -- Adobo-marinated chicken, steak, and pork -- topped with shredded lettuce, cilantro, and I chose the Del Diablo salsa. Each taco was moist, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. The salsa added a great kick without overpowering the flavors. A solid spot for fresh, satisfying tacos and relaxed vibes -- I'd definitely come back to try more!

It was a quiet afternoon, so instead of feeling awkward, it turned into a really enjoyable visit. The staff had the match on, and before long we were all watching together. A couple of goals were scored while we were there, and everyone celebrated for a moment before getting back to work. It gave the restaurant a fun, relaxed atmosphere that you don't usually get. I ordered the Burrito Fajita, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. It was generously portioned, served hot, and had plenty of grilled chicken, peppers, and onions. The rice and beans on the side rounded everything out nicely. Nothing about the meal disappointed me. If I'm being fair, restaurants like El Tapatio have a lot of competition. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants around Rhode Island serving very similar menus, and the differences often come down to execution more than originality. That's not a knock on this place. It's simply the reality of the genre. The food here was solid, well prepared, and satisfying, even if there wasn't one particular dish that made me think, "I've never had anything like this before." Where El Tapatio really stood out was the service. Everyone was genuinely friendly without hovering over the table, our food came out quickly, and they made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was also spotless, which is something I always notice. Would I come back? Absolutely. Maybe it won't reinvent Mexican food, but it doesn't need to. Sometimes all you want is a clean restaurant, good service, a generous meal, and people who make you feel at home. On that front, El Tapatio delivered.
