**August 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I were basically drenched in sweat and in dire need of something cold to cool us down. We'd both been to An's Dry Cleaning and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to check out their other spot in Ocean Beach: An's Electronics Repair. Parking is a bit of a challenge as you can either do street parking or get lucky with the spots right in front of the shops (we got lucky and saw someone leaving). We visited in mid-afternoon and were able to wait inside the AC'd shop while a few parties were ahead of us. The staff seemed to spend individual time with each customer, which made the whole experience feel really personal. When it was our turn, I was surprised that we were given a flight of gelato to sample. We started with a palate cleanser, then moved from "Satin," a golden kiwi sorbet, toward "Leather" and "Airplane Mode," which were both very chocolate forward flavors. Everything tasted great, but I ended up choosing "Bouquet of Flowers," a vanilla base with almond cake and house-made raspberry rosewater jam. It kind of tasted like wedding cake and I paired that with "Chintz," a dulce de leche flavor. The gelato itself was very creamy, and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the flavors! Their sizing is a little confusing, but I went with a "megabyte" (regular) for $7.75. This is more of a grab-and-go type of shop, but there was one bench near the porch where my friend and I sat to enjoy the free AC. When we finished, we noticed the line had doubled and there were people waiting outside. They rotate their flavors every 3-4 weeks, so it's cool to see what they come up with each time. I'd definitely come back again.

Walked by on Thursday night and there was a line out the door and down the block. It wasn't…read moreobvious what is was at first until we googled it! Came back yesterday to give it a try. You get to taste every flavor (I think there were seven flavors) and then choose what you want to order. I had the Leather...vanilla with cookies and browned butter in a cone. The cone was sturdy and the ice cream and cone were perfect. Such a retro fun place!

Sometimes you just need something sweet, and this absolutely hit the spot…read more We got ice cream with a warm brownie and hot fudge, and it was the perfect combination. The rich, fudgy brownie paired so well with the cold, creamy ice cream, and the extra drizzle of hot fudge made it even better. Simple, indulgent, and exactly the dessert we were craving. Definitely a treat worth splurging on when you're in the mood for something sweet!

THE BAKED BEAR @ PACIFIC BEACH…read more There isn't a dedicated parking lot, but you can usually find street parking or neighborhood parking nearby. Personally, I've always had the best luck with neighborhood parking since there are typically more spots available. Just keep in mind that Pacific Beach gets extremely busy, especially on weekends. By the afternoon, parking can be pretty difficult because everyone is heading to the beach and all the restaurants and dessert spots in the area. I've been wanting to try The Baked Bear for a while, specifically for their famous ice cream sandwiches. One of the best parts is that you get to customize your sandwich by choosing your cookie flavors and ice cream. I went with the Blue Monster ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies, and it was so good! It was super flavorful, and the cookies paired perfectly with the ice cream. My only downside is that the portions are much bigger than I expected. The ice cream sandwich is definitely large enough to share between two people, so I'd definitely recommend splitting one unless you're really craving something sweet. It was delicious, but it left me feeling a little too full afterward. The staff was very friendly, and the service was great. The inside of the shop is on the smaller side, though, and I did notice that the tables were a bit sticky and dirty when we sat down. I wish they cleaned the tables more frequently as customers came and went. Overall, I'd still recommend stopping by if you're in Pacific Beach. It's a great dessert spot that's only a short walk from the beach, making it the perfect treat after spending the day by the ocean.
