I ordered the cinnamon latte with whole milk and it did not disappoint. They also offered me a sample of their strawberry doughnut. And I just have to say I have never tasted a pastry that had so much strawberry flavor!! They sell whole cakes, which finding a gluten-free vegan cake in San Diego is very difficult so keep this on your radar. The decor is super cute with pink and gold everywhere. I was in town with friends and my beloved Golden Retriever and our airbnb is a few blocks from this bake shop! Saturday April 4th morning, I took my dog on a walk to explore the area in the morning and discovered this really cute pink shop! A closer look at the menu and I saw they had an iced match drink and their menu is VEGAN!! As a vegetarian, this made me so happy to find! They were so nice to my golden and even gave him some whipped cream. I ordered an iced strawberry match strawberry drink. I did ask for it to be extra sweet with real sugar. I popped in at 7:10 am to pick up some breakfast items & some cupcakes & a little cake for two b-day events this weekend. Phattie's is the cutest little shop & I love how it is decorated. Everything is gluten free, vegan & delicious!! The baker working was very helpful & I was able to get all of my items in just a few minutes. I ended up with a six pack of cupcakes, a mini funfetti cake, two banana loaves & a blueberry scone. ($88) They also have tons of interesting coffee, matcha & other types of drinks on their extensive menu. Phattie's is open from 7-2 every day. There's plenty of street parking, but on busy days, you may have to look around for it. Update: We enjoyed the funfetti cake for dessert tonight and my mom thought it was so cute. I noted that the cake was a little dry, and the icing was slightly waxy tasting, but my dad and aunt loved it! Mahalo! read more

Was in the area and wanted something sweet. Found this place and stopped by. First of all tremendous service! We were lucky enough to be helped by the owner, Hiro. What a lovely person! He went out of his way to explain the selection, ensure we got exactly what we were on the hunt for, and have a great experience. Please note that they have a little bit of everything so there's definitely something for everyone here. Please note vegan and gluten free isn't normally my thing but this is the PERFECT place for that and there are absolutely delights for those like me who aren't. Our personal favorite was their new item: the Tiramasu donut. That and the cereal donut blew our minds. Soft, light, delicious! Highly recommend! For rich chocolate lovers I recommend the brookie. For peanut butter lovers the peanut butter cookie was phenomenal. For cinnamon swirl lovers get the coffee cake. They even have tasty (and huge!) blueberry scones! There's even edible cookie dough! Please note that they also do cakes and even breakfast pizzas! A true great deal is their 12.50 treat boxes. They are a random assortment of their offerings. Will absolutely be coming back for that and to try their drink/coffee options. For parking there is street or a paid lot across the way. Wow. This place was in our list for a while. It is the bomb!!! Paradise for Vegan and Gluten Free lovers. No one can imagine how delicious the pastries and breakfast options are here. They have from cakes, to cupcakes, pastries, doughnuts Cruminal Cookies, coffees and matcha. We ordered a Coconut Matcha, a Campfire Latte, 4 flavors of doughnuts, bagel with Vegan Cream Cheese, Banana Loaf and a Chocolate Muffin. Everything was excellent. Ambiance is cool relax. Omg I never knew how cute this place was! It is a small bakery shop in Point Loma and it has some small tables outside where you can enjoy your treats and food. Every single item we got from this place was amazing. I had to keep reminding myself that everything was vegan and gluten free! First off, we got the frittata bagel sandwich and wow, we got the jalapeño cheddar bagel and it was so fluffy we were so impressed! The egg was made with "Just Egg" and it was just as fluffy and a normal egg would be! Plus we got it with the spicy aioli and damn, definitely on the spicy side but so good. I need to try more of their savory items. As for sweets, we got the cinnamon roll, which is a limited time item, and again, blown away. It was on the pricey side at about $15 a cinnamon roll but it was so worth it! They put a hefty amount of cream on top too, and the cream had hints of cinnamon too. Only thing was that it was very very sweet, definitely a snack for two sittings. Finally we got their Goodie Box ($12.50), it had 4 different pastries in it and the price equates to about 50% off all the items in the box. It was a no brainer. I am still working through the box of pastries but everything has been great so far. Only thing again is that most things are very very sweet. Edit: The order was placed in advance and not one pre made. We are a celiac family and used to this type of food. This was just straight up bad and can not recover from this horrible experience. Do better! This place came as a recommendation but was honestly the worst decision we made for our daughter's party this year! We cut and served the cake only to be met with stares from all of the kids that could only be described as WTF is this?! The simple red velvet cake was so dry, you couldn't even finish a bite without drinking something with it or crushing it up and mixing it into ice cream just to be able to finish it! I am not a person with any dietary restrictions... and part of the reason I love to Yelp is because I love to go out to eat and am open to trying pretty much everything. However, I realize that not everyone is able to eat everything. I typically buy cupcakes and balloons for each of my interns on their birthdays, but last year it was brought to my attention that one of my interns cannot eat gluten or dairy. I wanted to get her something different this year so I looked to find Phattie's. I decided to buy a few things in hopes that she would like something. I bought her the birthday cupcake (which was decorated for Halloween), pumpkin scone, and sugar free banana bread. I wanted to have something for lunch for work, so I ordered the "sausage" breakfast sandwich. I made my order online the night before and requested curbside pickup, as I wasn't sure about parking and needed to get to work early that morning. Anyway, the curbside pickup didn't work very well, as I think the one staff member was busy doing something else. However, there were plenty of places to pull up and hop out at that time of day. The place was super cute, and all pink. If I hadn't been in a hurry, I would have looked around. My order was ready and waiting. Anyway, I gave my intern the pastries and later on asked for an honest review. She said that she enjoyed them all, and is very picky with vegan desserts, as they are often dry. However, she said they were all moist and delicious and that she would definitely go back. I had the breakfast sandwich, though I had reheated it for lunch. The first bit was a bit of an adjustment, as I don't usually eat vegan food, but after that I really enjoyed it and almost forgot that it wasn't a regular breakfast sandwich. I would definitely say Phattie's is on the pricey side, but I also think that a place that specializes so much merits the price. The ambiance was nice and customer service was great! However, the items ordered just were not the quality I expected for the price and the reviews I saw online. The scone and biscuit were incredibly dry (definitely need a beverage to get them down). The churro donut was the best item but even that had an overwhelming sickly sweet smell, at least it was moist. I know there is a tax that comes with being gluten-free unfortunately but this place definitely missed the mark. All of this said honestly, we're ready for snarky comments from the owner. read more

An amazing bakery that I have brought everyone I'm close to to try! My first time here I was absolutely blown away with the fact that I could eat EVERYTHING!! Every single item I've had here has been absolutely amazing. Their coffee is amazing I love the Ube cold foam because vegan cold foam is SO fun and I never get to have it, their jalapeno cheddar bagel and their breakfast sandwiches are my favorite things I've ever had here for sure, I love the savory items. My sister can be picky when I make her vegan egg items but even she loved the quiche and egg bites especially so they just do so many things right. But oh my god their sweets are amazing. For my birthday and anyone I know I love to get an array of items because everything is amazing. If they have the tres leches that's definitely a favorite of mine always. I love their edible cookie dough, and absolutely everything always hits. I love that they tend to have samples so I always end up buying what they have being sampled because it's so good. I have been here a few times to get my sweet fix. I can't have dairy or gluten, so a vegan/GF bakery is right up my alley. I live in La Mesa and was a little nervous the first time I went, because I didn't want to be disappointed that I made the trip to Point Loma if it wasn't great and low and behold, it's amazing every time! I have had the lemon blueberry mini loaf (so so good), the coffee cake and the cinnamon roll. All have been delicious. Nothing has been too dry or lacking flavor. As someone that has dabbled in baking GF/DF I had to stop because nothing was turning out great and then I was wasting $30-$35 on baking ingredients for nothing. I know it may SEEM like this shop is expensive, but comparing GF/DF ingredient cost to regular ingredients is like comparing apples... and champagne. Plus, it's pretty in line with a lot of local bakeries. Service has always been great and it's really cute inside as well. I had a very disappointing experience due to their poor customer service and lack of professionalism. I placed an online order for a cake and received an email confirmation, although it did not include an order number. Thankfully, I took a screenshot at checkout. When my niece arrived to pick it up, she was told they had no record or receipt for the order. She called me, and while I was checking my credit card (which showed no charge, meaning the order was never actually processed), I asked her to wait while I got back to her. While waiting, she mentioned she might order a coffee since the menu looked good. Instead of being helpful or even neutral, the employee who was "assisting" us rudely told her that she had no reason to be there anymore since the order "didn't exist." Completely unnecessary, rude, and unprofessional. Mistakes happen, but the attitude and lack of customer care made this experience much worse. If you plan to order online, be very careful and make sure to call the shop directly to double-check that your order was actually placed. I was in town visiting some girlfriends and had the absolute most wonderful experience at Phatties!! First of all, as a gluten free girl, it was HEAVEN to be able to order anything in the store!! Second, the service was so so incredible-- Hero was so welcoming and kind to myself, my friends, and everyone who entered. Little did I know in the moment, but just minutes before my friends and I came in, an emotionally unbalanced person had spit in the face of the head baker-- and the cops had to get involved. It takes an extreme level of professionalism to keep things moving so seamlessly after an event like that. Third-- there is flower wallpaper on the CEILING, people !! If there is that level of attention to detail for decor, you just KNOW the baked goods are going to be perfection as well. And they WERE! Pop tart was sooooooo tough you could hardly chew it. Gluten free items are typically more dense than traditional baked goods, but this is beyond that. Skip this item... I just tossed $7 in the garbage. Cinnamon roll is MEGA HUGE. Very doughy in the center. There's an abundant amount of glaze on the bottom of the roll, so it's oozing with sugary, gooey sweetness on the bottom. At first I didn't think there was enough frosting, but there's plenty after I realized how sticky the bottom of the roll is. Unfortunately it is a whopping $14! I will say it's good, but not worth that kind of a price tag. Top notch customer service, but that doesn't make up for the hefty prices and poor quality in some of the items. My intolerance to gluten and the predominantly gluten donut bakeries and in stores, donuts are a rare treat. My blessing was chocolately donut from heaven, a divine moment. However, this place made me feel like I had none at all!
