Definitely worth the experience! All of the An's concepts are visually inspiring with strong theming! This location also has a seating area in the back. Really liked Leather with the cookie chunks! Wasn't a fan of Fleece. Appreciate the flavor tasting experience, main reason for such a long wait though!
Dying in the heat a few weekends ago so a friend and I decided on some ice cream to cool down. Having been to An's Dry Cleaning, we decided to check out this spot in OB. Starting with parking .... whether you know OB or not, just be patient and be ready to do laps until you luck out and find a spot. OB is one of those areas where I miss driving my roadster as that thing could fit anywhere. Found a spot and I don't know what the restrictions were if any - but it was on main drag of shops, kiddie corner from An's. Speaking of luck, we arrived, walked in and waited in line. Two parties before us but if you don't already know. An's will give you a sampling of their selection so it can take time with everyone getting their free samples. I only tried three because I just wanted to know what would pair with the one flavor I had already decided on. Anyway ... A few spots to sit indoors, and a few tables outside. Remember ... heat. but again, we lucked out and found a spot inside where we could stay cooler and enjoy our cold treat. While doing that, I was checking out all the baskets of electronics accessories and parts that reminded me of back when I first started out in IT. Brought back some memories, especially the Atari game console. I really do like An's ice cream and their ideas of how to design their shops. There's one more location I'll have to visit so I can say I've been to them all.
**August 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit** My friend and I were basically drenched in sweat and in dire need of something cold to cool us down. We'd both been to An's Dry Cleaning and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to check out their other spot in Ocean Beach: An's Electronics Repair. Parking is a bit of a challenge as you can either do street parking or get lucky with the spots right in front of the shops (we got lucky and saw someone leaving). We visited in mid-afternoon and were able to wait inside the AC'd shop while a few parties were ahead of us. The staff seemed to spend individual time with each customer, which made the whole experience feel really personal. When it was our turn, I was surprised that we were given a flight of gelato to sample. We started with a palate cleanser, then moved from "Satin," a golden kiwi sorbet, toward "Leather" and "Airplane Mode," which were both very chocolate forward flavors. Everything tasted great, but I ended up choosing "Bouquet of Flowers," a vanilla base with almond cake and house-made raspberry rosewater jam. It kind of tasted like wedding cake and I paired that with "Chintz," a dulce de leche flavor. The gelato itself was very creamy, and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the flavors! Their sizing is a little confusing, but I went with a "megabyte" (regular) for $7.75. This is more of a grab-and-go type of shop, but there was one bench near the porch where my friend and I sat to enjoy the free AC. When we finished, we noticed the line had doubled and there were people waiting outside. They rotate their flavors every 3-4 weeks, so it's cool to see what they come up with each time. I'd definitely come back again.

After my visit, I ran into someone who thought they were in line for An's but actually in a line for poke lol The shop is very small. You go out the way you come in, so it feels like a tight squeeze. It's tight because it is also a repair shop during other hours of the day/week. The seasonal flavors are available on a chalkboard. They change the flavors regularly, so if you're local, you can look forward to new flavors every few weeks. They're very creative with their flavors and I love the display here. Each item on the menu is also displayed on a monitor. Very much worth a try and it makes me curious how the other branches are designed.
The experience here is always wonderful. It was my first time at this location, but it was just as pleasant as An's dry cleaning. Madelyn was our ice cream barista and she was super friendly and took the time to explain the flavors and made recommendations for mixes of we chose more than one. The set up is very similar to An's dry cleaning, but with antique electronics and fun decor throughout the shop. All of the flavors were delicious and unique in their own right.
I love how every An's location has a unique theme and different decor. The ice cream was, of course, delicious and the workers are always super nice and friendly. There's a really cute seating area outside by the back of the restaurant where my friends and I enjoyed our sweet treats. There could be a line depending on what time you arrive but it's only because the workers guide you through a flavor tour of all their flavors of the week! I really love An's and I'm excited to see all their other locations as well!
An's never misses! I got to try all three Ube flavors and some new ones! Hard to choose but I finally settled on Gomazuri which has matcha, black sesame, & Paru tea and & Tubaw which has Ube & Saigon coffee! Portion sizes are pretty good and the unique flavor blends makes An's stand out from the other gelato and ice creams shops around SD. While you wait in line, it's fun to look at all the old electronics. I also like how they put the menu on small old TVs. Customer service is always good and they even gave out samples to those people who were waiting outside. I always go to Ans to try out their new flavors. One of my favorite gelato places that I come back to over and over again!
Voted #1 in the USA for a reason! Happy they opened this location in OB since the line in North Park is always dreadful. The parking here can be rough but we got lucky today & the line wasn't long at all, maybe took 15 min to get to the front. Love the concept of a flavor tour & love the explanation behind all the flavors. Jay was fantastic. Love the ambiance and how they have a bunch of vintage VHS tapes and other electronics. Waffle cone with two massive scoops is around $9 or so. Worth it! Will definitely be back.
I have never been to another ice cream shop that provides quite the same experience as this one. We went on a very busy Wednesday farmers market in the summer night. Yes the line was long but so worth it. To hear the staff tell you about An's and their favorite flavor and walk you thru every flavor, was a dream. And did I mention everything is gluten free?! And the vibe is so cute. Definitely like a radio shack type decor. My favorite flavor of the night was Madras with vanilla, mango jam and pieces of pie. I will be back again and again!

Just like their other location, there is always a line, especially at dinner time or slightly after. I think what takes so long are the customers sampling each flavor. There were two parties ahead of me. This gave me time to look around. There are some window seats inside, and a lot of old electronics which adds to the ambiance. But it's warm and inviting. The young woman who helped me was so friendly. She was about to explain the flavors but I told her I already knew what I wanted. I got the Cypress, brownie batter and dark chocolate, and the Sagada, ube, toasted coconut and salted caramel. You really don't need to sample because it's not like they're going to serve ice cream that doesn't taste good. So I kinda skipped down the street, licking my magical cone of goodness! The flavors played well off each other. Ice cream makes the world a better place. As Cako and I walked toward the pier, I heard this woman say, "Let's go in here, it's yummy and cheaper..." Sure go into the basic ice cream store. An's is on a level all its own, and nothing compares. When I walked by them, they didn't look happy eating the basic ice cream....LOL! THAT's the difference! I then realized I didn't take a photo at the beginning! LOL! But Cako did get a couple of licks when it dripped on my shoe... Cako Approves!!! ;)
I'm actually amazed by how good this gelato is! I live right around the corner and usually see the line about 30 people deep, but I lucked out with no line on a random evening. I didn't realize that they would walk us through each and every flavor and let us taste them all. Such a fun experience with crazy, unique flavors that don't take artificial. I love the rotating flavors and will definitely be back for more in the future.
There's a reason this place is always on the list of the best ice cream spots in the United States - it's amazing! First of all, I love how they walk you through all the flavors (which are super inventive) and give you samples to try before picking out what you want. It really makes the whole event much more of an experience and I feel like other places should do the same. The employees were super passionate about the ice cream. Not to mention, the quality is truly top-tier. Beyond the ice cream, the ambiance is super cool and they really lean into the whole old electronic repair shop vibe. I'm so excited to come back on my next trip to San Diego! I wonder what flavors they'll have in store for me!

The gelato at An's is legendary. The full service is amazing. I love that they take you through all the flavors. It shows their pride in their craft. But lowkey it makes the waiting in queue so long! This is one of the newer locations (I think the airline/plane one is newest), and it is in Ocean Beach. I love how themed they are. The flavors and pricing are displayed on the tv screens. The font size is so small, so it's bad for people with bad eyesight. My favorite flavors here were the Cypress (chocolate) and No Signal (butterscotch and date). I had to get the bigger one, megabyte, because I was greedy. My diet stayed outside the minute I walked inside. I can't wait to visit the other locations! read more

This was a unique experience that I had never tried before. It felt like a tasting menu, but for gelato. We sampled all of their flavors, starting with the lighter ones and working our way up to the richer, more intense flavors. Some of the gelatos were incredibly creative and absolutely delicious. There were a few flavors that just weren't for me, though. For example, the chocolate raspberry had too much raspberry acidity, which overpowered the chocolate. The service was spectacular, everyone was friendly, patient, and happy to guide us through the tasting. The ambiance was also very creative. I loved the concept of hiding a gelato shop behind what looks like an electronics store. It made the whole experience feel fun and unique. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something different. read more

As a tourist in San Diego visiting for a conference, we frequently used ride shares around town. We had three drivers explain to us that for along time, they believed An's was a speakeasy because they would drop patrons at the electronic repair store or dry cleaning business and there was always a long out the door. This was one of our fun stops through the City. The top Ice Cream shop in America. The stop that we have seen all over TikTok and Instagram. Small batched ice cream, freshly made waffle cones, unique flavors that went above and beyond the call of duty. In an establishment themed so hip and full of vibes. Old electronics fill the room. A pachinko machine and wood paneling giving off a retro vibe. The back has quaint overflow seating that's missed by newbies. What sets this shop apart from others is the hospitality and knowledge of the staff on all the rotating flavors. Every flavor we tried was unique and had character. I went with the no signal- a molasses, date, butter pecan cake gelato. 2 heaping scoops in a fresh waffle cone for 9$. A great value considering we were briefed through the menu as if we were sampling a Michelin Star menu as the Addison just north of town. One of the easiest five star reviews.i would give it an extra star because the whole concept and experience was fresh and near perfection. read more

An's was voted the best gelato in America for good reason! This location of theirs is an electronics themed shop with a bunch of random gadgets and devices around the shop. Wifey and I tried their Madras (Mango + Vanilla + Pie Crust) flavor and it was really smooth and nice! read more

I completely understand why An's is one of the top rated gelato/ice cream stores in the country. I love everything about this business concept. It's creative, engaging and just exciting. We got to try every flavor and go on a tasting journey. They switch the flavors often so there's always something new to try. Every flavor is to die for and there's something for everybody. The staff are ALWAYS kind. The service is wonderful. The ambiance is really pleasant. Beware though, there will likely be a decent sized line! It was worth it though. read more

The tasting menu( being able to try all the flavors) is amazing. This is artisanal ice cream so definitely interesting and worth a try if you like adventure. Have been to An's Hatbox in Del Mar, and An's dry cleaner in North Park, so this rounded out the trifecta. Did not disappoint. read more

A trip to the OB farmers market wouldn't be complete without a tasting at An's. They have rotating flavors but the leather flavor stays and is my favorite. The line for this An's is not long compared to the An's Dry Cleaning in NP. read more

For customer service, I'd give it a 10 star! Julissa took care of us and took her time to explain all the flavors. We tried everything and the ambiance for the vibe of the store was also top notch, so nostalgic. I loved that all the flavors are shown on a traditional tube TV, and as a thrift hunter, this location gave me all the feels. As for ice cream, I would give it a 4 star. Creativity is amazing, but as a vanilla ice cream girl, this was way too fancy and almost too sweet. I liked everything I tried, but wish I could have paired one fancy with a plain ol vanilla. The name of the sizes are super cute too! Kilobyte, megabyte, and the waffle cone was joystick.... Haha. All in all what a great concept, definitely a San Diego must try! Slowly trying all of An's stores! This one was very well decorated and on-theme with the whole old electronics store concept. I felt the line at this An's location was shorter than the original dry cleaning or hatmakers in Del Mar even on a weekend afternoon. The staff at all of An's locations are always friendly and informative. Parking is on the street and difficulty is dependent on when you come. The flavors are always creative and I always have a hard time just picking two. They went the extra mile today to accommodate a friend with some food allergies during their tasting! read more

Stopped in around 3:00pm on a Tuesday and that's definitely the time to go! It was nice to avoid the rush/crowd that seems to always be there. What I love about Ans is the tasting experience. They have you try all of their flavors so that you know you're getting your favorite! Got the valour and the trill and they were delicious. Anything salted Caramel is always a hit here! It's always an experience to go to any of the An's gelato locations, and this visit was no different! The gelato shop is super cute and decorated well, but parking can be a bit difficult to come by. As always, the staff at An's is super helpful and patient as they assist you through the gelato flight. The flavors when I came by were absolutely delicious. I ended up getting two after trying them all. I got the ao ba ba which was a passion fruit sorbet with vanilla and thai basil flavors. Super smooth and not icey like other sorbets I've had from other spots. The second flavor I ordered was a matcha flavor with hints of banana that I've unfortunately forgotten the name of. This place won best gelato in America and I completely agree with that ranking! The gelato tastes like it's straight from Europe. They always have really unique rotating flavors, which makes going a new experience everytime. The best part is the tasting tour. They give everyone a sample of each flavor, explaining what's in it and where it's inspired from. The employees are always so enthusiastic and educated about the ingredients. They even have numerous gluten and dairy free options. Each location is decorated with a theme, which makes me much more fun than your average gelato shop. I've been a fan of An's for years, and I love the different concepts they come up with it. Finally tried their electronics repair shop, it's definitely my favorite in terms of decor. There seems to be a line during peak dessert times but it goes by fast. I got the Kilobyte size - riquimbili (pistachio, passion fruit, raspberry, caramel) & Bluetooth (coconut + blue spirulina) and I'd get both flavors again. Definitely do the flavor tour to try all the flavors. Street parking is available, shop is small so limited seating. read more

I live in Northern California, but whenever I come to San Diego, I have to go to one of An's locations. This location in Ocean Beach is a block off of Newport Ave. and definitely worth the time, even if there is a long line. The flavors are amazing, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the decor is cool. Part of the wait is to allow everyone to taste test the entire menu of flavors before making their selection. I am usually happy with the kilobyte cup size with two flavors. Go check it out! read more

I was super excited to try An's, as I heard great things about the ice cream. The place is super cute and very uniquely designed. There was a ton of electronic devices decorating the walls. There was a line and it took a while, but it was a great experience so I would say it was worth it. When we got to the ice cream, they gave samples for every flavor, which was nice because I got to pick the flavor I liked the best. I ended up ordering the Coppola, which had cookies and nutella. It was really good. We also got the pint size of the leather which had cookies in it, which was great. I would 100% come here again! read more

I love the concept of An's, but my experience at the ocean Beach location was not as exciting as at the original location. I've been wanting to try this location, but every time I've been in the area there's a line wrapped around the block to get in. When we walked by today, there was nobody in line, we seized our chance! So the concept is that they move into a space that was previously occupied by a local business. They start an gelato shop, but keep it on theme to the business that was previously there. So this An's is the electronics repair shop, all of the flavors are supposed to be named after various electronic things, etc. But only half of them were actually given electronics names, the other half seemed to have been sent over from the dry cleaning shop in the original North Park location. That's not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it just kind of takes away from the charm. And let's be honest, you pay a premium for this gelato. Not just because it's good but because of the concept and the charm. There was one other couple in front of us. The gentleman that was giving them the tour of flavors was very descriptive, I could kind of hear a little bit of what he was saying. A girl came out from the back and helped us. She was very friendly and had a great smile, but honestly seemed like she was kind of rushing us through the tour. I asked her questions based on what the guy was saying because she just wasn't giving us all that information. I heard him tell the other couple that there was one flavor that was on the menu every day, and that another flavor was a collaboration with a very well-known Cuban bakery down the street. After she rushed us through, we ended up buying 2 pints. In the cooler where you get the pints they actually had even more flavors from the dry cleaning shop. I'm just a little bit confused here. Overall, the gelato was very good, but I didn't think that what was currently in rotation was as good as when we went to the North Park location. This location just didn't live up to the hype for me. Hands down *THE BEST* gelato I've ever had thus far! We went on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly, there was only a short line outside the store. We still waited about 25 minutes before it was our turn, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I honestly just spent my time admiring the unique setup they had once we were inside the store. Everything was so on theme! There were old electronics everywhere you look. They also had a collection of old televisions on top of the counter that also served as their menu. Of course we said yes when they asked if we wanted to do the flavor tour, as this was our first time ever at An's. I know you're basically just tasting every flavor they had available that day, but it was quite an experience. They even had a lemon ginger sorbet they offered at the beginning of the tour as a palate cleanser--to get your tastebuds ready to be blown away! After going through the tour, we decided on getting five flavors--Cypress, Léine, Leather, Velour, and Fascinator. Cypress (Midnight Brazilian cocoa) was my ultimate favorite. The closest thing I can think of to describe this flavor is a frozen dark chocolate brownie batter. It's the definition of decadent in gelato form in my opinion--so incredibly rich and thick and creamy and so chocolatey without being overly sweet. I could eat tubs of it and not ever get tired of it. Léine (Bailey's Irish Cream, cold brew & coffee ganache) was my runner up. I'm a huge coffee gal and this flavor just hit the spot for me. The Bailey's was more prominent than I expected, but you still get that coffee kick from the cold brew and swirls of coffee ganache here and there. The perfect flavor combination for a coffee enthusiast like me! Leather (brown butter & chocolate chip cookies) was a close runner up for me too. That brown butter was so luscious it almost tasted like toffee, and the chunk of chocolate chip cookies just made every bite that much more addictive. Certainly a winning flavor combination if you ask me! Velour (salted caramel & dark chocolate) reminded me of the Werther's caramel candy in gelato form. Surprisingly for being caramel flavored, it wasn't overly sweet. They balanced the flavor so well with a hint of salt and I love that some bites came with bits of dark chocolate. Fascinator, on the other hand, was like spring/summer in a cup. This strawberry sorbet was so refreshing, especially on a hot day. It's the perfect palate cleanser and contrast to their other creamy, lush flavors as well. And because they used so many fresh strawberries in making this, you can really taste that bright and fruity flavor from the very first bite. An's Gelato is without a doubt one of a kind and a must try. There's certainly a reason why they've been named the number one best ice cream/gelato in America by USA Today! I can't wait to go back and try their other flavors. I'm looking forward to visiting their other locations too! read more

Visited in the last few days and had a good time. The line moved fairly quickly, and service was above and beyond with bringing out samples, checking food allergies etc. Then of course inside is so unique with the random 80's-90's electronics. I got a cone with scoops of Leather and Velour and was without doubt the most rich, flavorful ice cream I've probably ever had. read more

Absolutely the most unique and thoroughly carried thru themed ice cream shop ever! If you look at everything in the shop minus the ice cream you'd swear you're in an old to electronic shop. Kudos for thoughtful concept done at 1000% ! We especially adored the flavors on the television screens! The staff share their love of the product by giving you sample of all the flavors. I noticed there's a flavor for everyone whether you enjoy rich and decadent or floral and fruity. I opted for decadent and rich with velour and leather the unique names of the shop's flavors. Best ice cream in San Diego! I had been to An's Dry Cleaning and was excited to find out other locations existed! The concept and design of this An's Electronic Repair is so fun! The TV's with the menu, all the decor around the shop, and getting to try all the flavors with descriptions of each flavor by the friendly worker made a typical ice cream trip a whole experience. Each flavor was so delicious and I love that the menu is constantly changing so I have more excuses to come for a sweet treat! read more
