This was my first visit and I already can't wait to be back! The staff is so kind and walked me through the menu & seasonal items. There's a good variety of GF items and some DF ones too - including donuts, cupcakes, scones, more treats and breakfast sandwiches. They also have a coffee and tea bar, and I recommend the London Fog (many places in PGH don't seem to offer this tea, and it's delicious). read more

A gluten-free bakery located on Perry Highway, near Wexford.  They feature delicious coffee drinks, amazing gluten- free baked goods as well as vegan and dairy free options, and fun vintage items.  I am not gluten-free but wanted to check them out and WOW- everything I tried was amazing.  It does not even taste like gluten-free which is amazing.  The textures, flavors and diversity is really amazing.  Tried the breakfast sandwich which was a gluten free English muffin with sausage, egg and cheese.  It was really tasty! Got some cinnamon rolls and cupcakes to go! Also had a London Fog which totally hit the spot! I love Baked True North - it's the ultimate gluten-freedom spot! Everything here is 100% gluten-free and completely safe for celiacs--no second-guessing, just amazing food. I tried the focaccia bread, carrot cake cupcake, breakfast sandwich, and blueberry donut and WOW it did not disappoint. Celiac note: I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2023 and have been on the hunt for safe and delicious gluten-free spots around Pittsburgh ever since. I've been here twice. The gluten free dairy free cinnamon rolls are the best I've had!! Love them! I also got the vegan gluten free cupcakes again. I did not get the chocolate chip cookie this time. I was not a fan. Something was weird about it. But.....I want sooo badly to give this place 5 stars because its kind is few and far between. The curly grey haired lady taking orders was not friendly to me and I don't know why. She was to EVERYONE else it seemed, but not me. I could not figure it out. I sat and worked and observed and thought maybe when I left she'd say thank you for stopping.....nothing! Infact, there was only one other customer in the store at the time. I will say they don't really indicate they are gluten free, I found out because I went to their instagram. I feel like almost all of my closest friends have gluten allergies...so I stopped by to pick up some things for my favorite people. Everything was excellent and I made gluten-free gals extremely happy! The lady at the counter was extremely helpful and they also have a small vintage shop that had some very neat gift items. I took home an English muffin for myself to give it a shot and it was one of the best English muffins I've ever had. Not your typical English muffin, but something a little bit better! I love Baked True North! We've been a customer since before they had a brick and mortar. My sister has Celiac Disease so finding somewhere safe for her to eat is always a win! We've ordered cupcakes for special occasions multiple times and they are incredible, you can't even tell that they're gluten free. The peanut butter cupcake with chocolate frosting and carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting are top notch. My sister loves the cinnamon rolls in the bakery too. The lemon bars are amazing!!! Baked True North is a bakery that opened in June 2022, and it sells *gluten-free* foods. I am not on a gluten-free diet, but I felt curious to try the foods. I sent my husband to buy some goodies for me. He said that the employee had a friendly personality and that she provided timely service. Here are my reviews for the foods: Lemon bar - 4 stars - $2.25 - The size was small/medium. The crust on the bottom was appropriately crispy. The filling was very lemony. On top was powdered sugar. Brownie - 4 stars - $3 - This brownie was extremely chocolately. The texture was more like fudge than cake. Chocolate chips were on top. Cookies - 3.5 stars - $3.85 each - My husband picked out two flavors, and he could not remember what they were called. One cookie appears to be a toffee snickerdoodle, which I rate as 4 stars. The other cookie appears to contain nuts, and I rate it as 3 stars. Muffin - 3.5 stars - $3 - This muffin had a cinnamon flavor. The center was moist, and crumbs were on top. Overall, I rate the foods at Bake True North as good. If you are on a gluten-free diet, then I encourage you to check out this business. read more

I stopped by here the other day with my wife and one of our kids while we were out. We had seen Baked True North a number of times while driving past it on Perry Highway but had never had a reason to stop. On this morning though, neither my wife nor I had our coffee yet and baked goods sounded good as well. The inside of this place consists of a long counter with a display case of cookies and then cloches filled with other baked goods, all gluten free. On this morning my wife and I decided on coffees (me large, her small) and then also an olive oil and Parmesan focaccia, a pumpkin gingerbread muffin, a cinnamon roll and an almond vanilla cupcake. I first tried the coffee on the way home and thought it tasted strong but a little bitter. After some of the sweets though, it was perfect and so likely a nice choice. My wife and I first tried the focaccia and were very happy with the taste of it, especially the Parmesan. It was loaded with olive oil and you could not tell that it was gluten free at all. Up next was the pumpkin gingerbread muffin. It was a little bit of a denser muffin and I got lots of the warming spices from the gingerbread and enjoyed it, even though I don't get much pumpkin. Then last but not least for us was the almond cupcake. There was an ample amount of vanilla frosting on top which I rather enjoyed as it tasted nicely of vanilla without being overly sweet. With any of the vanilla I actually didn't get the taste of the almond at all. Thankfully my wife told me to eat the cake part separately and I did and it was delicious. So I ended up enjoying both parts of it, but the frosting definitely overshadowed the cake. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed all that we had eaten, especially that focaccia. read more

Ventured out to this spot while on a business trip. As a celiac desserts are quite possibly the most difficult thing to normalize while preserving the taste, texture, and consistency of the "normal" versions. Of course at the end, when lacking all of that one tends to feel let down and unsatisfied. So I stopped in to see what the local hype was all about. I got the breakfast sandwich, a take on a sausage, egg, and cheese English muffin breakfast sandwich. Not usually a fan of English muffins to be fair but their take on it was close as I imagine you can get. It was pretty good, not being a usual fan of the texture anyhow. Also got the glazed donuts, a lemon/raspberry cupcake and a chocolate cupcake and a couple cinnamon rolls. This is where the magic is. I was fully prepared to be letdown by the donut for the mere fact of the thickness of it. The outside looked false and sweet but this sucker was about 2" thick. That combo usually equals the consistency of eating chalk in the Florence freee world. I was SHOCKED to realize they managed to integrate the glaze throughout even the center of this monster, all the while holding together. It looks like cake but this sucker is entirely glazed, mousy and DELISH! Possibly my favorite donut ever! The cupcakes were also extremely well constructed and the frostings were sweet but not too sweet and totally escaped that weird film in your mouth you can sometimes get with frostings. The cinnamon rolls were packed with cinnamon goodness and after a quick 20 seconds in the microwave they melted in your mouth like velvety cinnamon butter but heart enough to be a meal. Found Baked True North on a whim taking an alternate route to an appointment over the weekend. The family is all about supporting small and local and not to mention who can pass up a bakery? We purchased a german chocolate cookie a couple different flavored scones and an apple fritter (my favorite). My family consensus is as follows: 1. The cookie was decent, unable to pick up and eat as it fell apart when attempting to do so, the taste of coconut was the dominate flavor over anything else 2. The apple fritter was heavy and dense - not much apple flavor 3. The blueberry scone had absolutely no flavor what so over. 4. The chocolate chip scone was just ok Not going to lie, for as adorable is Baked True North is, we were all pretty bummed with what we got. They are new and working through the kinks so we will be back for another try. Won't go out of our way to go, but let's hope that changes! read more

The vegan cookie was actually very good. The brownie was very good as well but overpriced for how small it was. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. I want to love this place so much- the owner and the staff are absolutely wonderful. I was thrilled when a gf bakery opened close to home. I've been gluten free for almost 3 years now and these baked goods just fall flat compared to the other ones I've had in the last few years. I find everything to be really dense and somewhat tough. But there is also a strange flavor in almost everything that I can't put my finger on. I appreciate that they make gluten free donuts, but I find them to be almost chewy and missing the tenderness you look for in a cake donut. The chocolate cupcakes lack a rich chocolate flavor and were very dry and crusty. I can also appreciate the attempt at cinnamon rolls but there still is a strange flavor that I just cannot get past. I just haven't had anything from here that really makes me question if I'm actually eating something gluten free- which I've found from other gf bakeries in the area read more

First time stopping as I have seen the bakery for a while. Bought 2 lemon squares and 2 almond batter cupcakes. Lemon squares are fantastic. They are really lemony and crisp bottom. The cupcakes not good. The almond cupcake with lemon icing: first icing tasted nasty and the cupcake was so hard. It was obvious those cupcakes were old! I do not happen to require the need for gluten free products. I stoped in and picked up a Cinnamon roll, Lemon bar, and a Pumpkin snicker doodle. I was pleasantly pleased with the flavors and textures of these desserts. Cinnamon roll had lots of flavor. The lemon bar was perfect!! Lemon bars can be lacking if you don't put the time and love into the recipe. I love lemon bars but do not often purchase them anywhere. I find when the balance is not right acid reflux can result.
