I LOVE Baked True North!! I have only had positive experiences here, and today I got two of the most amazing items I've ever tasted in my life!! The strawberry snickerdoodle cookie was phenomenal, delicately sweet and chewy and ugh just literally perfection... wow. This place is a blessing to folks with dairy & gluten allergies!! I personally love ginger beer so I decided to try the Jackworth Ginger Beer and it's truly the best ginger beer I've ever had! It tastes like a fresh squeezed piece of ginger with a little sugar and carbonation, it's also truly perfect!! The employee that took care of me was so sweet and happy to help out. I love the way the inside of the store looks and feels too, and all around Baked True North is one of the most precious gems in all of the North Hills!!!! Thank you for doing such an incredible job to bring tasty and comforting treats to those who struggle to find allergen friendly items

I tried a variety of gluten-free baked goods--scones, cookies, cupcakes all were delish! I especially liked the toffeedoodles that were made with home made toffee. Amazing that all food items were gluten-free. The mid-century kitchen collectables that were for sale added to the nostalgia. The 60's vibe took me back to my younger days.

I love Baked True North! We've been a customer since before they had a brick and mortar. My sister has Celiac Disease so finding somewhere safe for her to eat is always a win! We've ordered cupcakes for special occasions multiple times and they are incredible, you can't even tell that they're gluten free. The peanut butter cupcake with chocolate frosting and carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting are top notch. My sister loves the cinnamon rolls in the bakery too. The lemon bars are amazing!!! The bakery is really cute too, they even sell retro/vintage home items. Definitely would recommend Baked True North even if you're not gluten free!

Baked True North is a bakery that opened in June 2022, and it sells *gluten-free* foods. I am not on a gluten-free diet, but I felt curious to try the foods. I sent my husband to buy some goodies for me. He said that the employee had a friendly personality and that she provided timely service. Here are my reviews for the foods: Lemon bar - 4 stars - $2.25 - The size was small/medium. The crust on the bottom was appropriately crispy. The filling was very lemony. On top was powdered sugar. Brownie - 4 stars - $3 - This brownie was extremely chocolately. The texture was more like fudge than cake. Chocolate chips were on top. Cookies - 3.5 stars - $3.85 each - My husband picked out two flavors, and he could not remember what they were called. One cookie appears to be a toffee snickerdoodle, which I rate as 4 stars. The other cookie appears to contain nuts, and I rate it as 3 stars. Muffin - 3.5 stars - $3 - This muffin had a cinnamon flavor. The center was moist, and crumbs were on top. Overall, I rate the foods at Bake True North as good. If you are on a gluten-free diet, then I encourage you to check out this business.

I stopped by here the other day with my wife and one of our kids while we were out. We had seen Baked True North a number of times while driving past it on Perry Highway but had never had a reason to stop. On this morning though, neither my wife nor I had our coffee yet and baked goods sounded good as well. The inside of this place consists of a long counter with a display case of cookies and then cloches filled with other baked goods, all gluten free. On this morning my wife and I decided on coffees (me large, her small) and then also an olive oil and Parmesan focaccia, a pumpkin gingerbread muffin, a cinnamon roll and an almond vanilla cupcake. I first tried the coffee on the way home and thought it tasted strong but a little bitter. After some of the sweets though, it was perfect and so likely a nice choice. My wife and I first tried the focaccia and were very happy with the taste of it, especially the Parmesan. It was loaded with olive oil and you could not tell that it was gluten free at all. Up next was the pumpkin gingerbread muffin. It was a little bit of a denser muffin and I got lots of the warming spices from the gingerbread and enjoyed it, even though I don't get much pumpkin. Then last but not least for us was the almond cupcake. There was an ample amount of vanilla frosting on top which I rather enjoyed as it tasted nicely of vanilla without being overly sweet. With any of the vanilla I actually didn't get the taste of the almond at all. Thankfully my wife told me to eat the cake part separately and I did and it was delicious. So I ended up enjoying both parts of it, but the frosting definitely overshadowed the cake. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed all that we had eaten, especially that focaccia.

Ventured out to this spot while on a business trip. As a celiac desserts are quite possibly the most difficult thing to normalize while preserving the taste, texture, and consistency of the "normal" versions. Of course at the end, when lacking all of that one tends to feel let down and unsatisfied. So I stopped in to see what the local hype was all about. I got the breakfast sandwich, a take on a sausage, egg, and cheese English muffin breakfast sandwich. Not usually a fan of English muffins to be fair but their take on it was close as I imagine you can get. It was pretty good, not being a usual fan of the texture anyhow. Also got the glazed donuts, a lemon/raspberry cupcake and a chocolate cupcake and a couple cinnamon rolls. This is where the magic is. I was fully prepared to be letdown by the donut for the mere fact of the thickness of it. The outside looked false and sweet but this sucker was about 2" thick. That combo usually equals the consistency of eating chalk in the Florence freee world. I was SHOCKED to realize they managed to integrate the glaze throughout even the center of this monster, all the while holding together. It looks like cake but this sucker is entirely glazed, mousy and DELISH! Possibly my favorite donut ever! The cupcakes were also extremely well constructed and the frostings were sweet but not too sweet and totally escaped that weird film in your mouth you can sometimes get with frostings. The cinnamon rolls were packed with cinnamon goodness and after a quick 20 seconds in the microwave they melted in your mouth like velvety cinnamon butter but heart enough to be a meal. Run, do not walk to this establishment and be prepared to be WOWED!

Adorable gluten free bakery & vintage shop . The women behind the counter were so friendly. I stopped in for the first birthday celebration and was impressed how fast the lines moved. We got a cookie, a cinnamon roll and a muffin - all were dairy free options.

Apteka. This was perfect for my wife, who is vegan. An all vegan Eastern-European eatery. Great weather added to the ambience. Plenty of plants in the background. We had a foursome with my friend and his husband. Apteka offers a service where you place your orders at the bar, and they come bring the food to you when it's ready. We started off with Hungarian fried bread (Langos) and then followed it with Salatka ziemniaczana. Potato salad with greens. Entree we had the pierogis. I mean, we Had to, back in Pittsburgh. Only thing missing was the cookie table but the dessert was great as well. Everything was comforting and filling. Plenty for us two. They had a special collab beer with 2 Frays, a brewery that is really solid. Was just starting off when I was leaving Pittsburgh 5 years ago and now has been pretty popular in Bloomfield. Overall, Apteka offers fine dining, inspired dishes with a vegan twist, and is a must. Reservations are a must as dining is limited to the weekend.

I thought the potato dumplings were okay--the dumplings didn't really absorb the sauce and just tasted kinda like bland mochi or gnocchi. The desserts (carrot tart and rye cake) were not that good--I recognize that it's probably quite difficult to make those desserts without butter or milk. I also got the gin cocktail, which was fantastic--the puree really made it delicious. We had a reservation for Saturday 6 PM but the restaurant was accommodating when we called day of to push it back 30 minutes. Interesting format where they seat you, but you have to go up to the bar to order and "close out" your tab, but we didn't mind and were able to order quickly. The food also came out really quick. There's a cute outdoor space/garden in the back too, with some candles.

Most bowls are rice, greens, and/or beans based with various vegetables for toppings. Heartier than a salad but healthier than Chipotle. I've gotten lunch there a few times and have always been satisfied. My favorite bowl is El Jefe, which comes with rice, kale, black beans, corn, red onion, avocado, and a protein topping (I like the miso tofu but you can also get chicken). The bowl also comes with cilantro/lime sauce, which I do not get because it's very salty. That's my one complaint about Roots - despite their healthy ingredients, their bowls can get quite saucy and salty if you go with the default options. The bowl was good but I was a little disappointed in the portion. Roots is a little bit more expensive than other similar options but I usually don't mind as they often give me a very full bowl, but that wasn't the case with the Gary bowl. It was less full than the bowls I usually get along with being very heavy on the rice and not too much chicken or even the kale. Aside from that it was still yummy but I think I'll be going back to my regular order next time.

My husband ordered the brown sugar pop tart, French onion soup, and their famous burger. He enjoyed every aspect of his meal. Our group also tried the pancakes as well as the crab benedict. Both of those dishes were so-so, and I wouldn't get them again! They have a little bakery/cafe on site where you can order pastries. They are also known for their vinegar pie, so of course, I had to try it! It was definitely a different flavor, and I am glad that I tried it. It tasted like a less sweet version of a pecan pie. The vinegar really helped to cut the sweetness. This restaurant was accommodating and the service was great. Their food was good but the company was even better. I will definitely be back!
