Axis began carrying little two-bite cakes from Ahimsa (a local company), and everyone seemed to love them (read: they were so popular that Axis frequently ran out!). I had never thought something vegan could taste so sinfully delicious (Ahimsa is super proud of the fact that 90% of their returning customers aren't veg or veeg)! Since then, I had the privilege of working with Kristi (the baker and artist) on a project for my blog. They have a handful of flavors from classic (chocolate cake and vanilla frosting, maple, chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and vanilla with vanilla frosting). While they sell at other stores in the area I highly recommend dropping in to meet and interact with the folks that make the magic happy. Don't worry if you don't live nearby - you can order online for delivery all over the country. Also they freeze well and let me tell you they are terrific heated up in the microwave. If you do go in person definitely take advantage of their specials. Just call ahead to see what their deals are. We scored a fab steal with a buy one get one special. And don't forget to tip the staff, they work super hard to make a classically delicious Northeastern delight.
