I am not sure what others are talking about. The service I received this evening was wonderful and I was taking forever to decide what I'd like. The employee made great suggestions and also made some small talk(asked what type of dog I have for my pup cakes) and ANYONE who says they love dogs is great in my book! We tried the Samoa, German Chocolate and PB & C (carmel) cupcakes, which were all terrific but my personal favorite was the Açaí Bowl doughnut !!! I loveeeeeeeeee this place. I've only ordered through doordash and I've only tried the cupcakes, but they are all so amazing. I have ordered twice and tried a variety of cupcakes. The first time I ordered: Mom's pecan roll, chocolate alaskan moose, chocolate chip cookie dough, candy cane, southern red velvet, and party time. I did not try the pecan roll, I gave it to my mother and she liked it. I also did not try the chocolate alaskan moose because I prefer vanilla cupcakes over choocolate cupcakes. The chocolate chip cookie dough was soooo good, I would definitely order it again. The party time is by far my favorite. The frosting is so good and creamy, it is delicious. The cakes were all very fresh and moist. The peppermint was good, but the peppermit flavor was very overpowering, therefore I would probably not get it again. If you are a huge peppermit fan, definitely get it. The red velvet was really good, but I thought it was a bit on the dry side. The second time I ordered: Party time (x2), what's up doc (w/ walnuts), bear claw, champagne dream, baileys hot chocolate. I love the party time so much that I ordered 2! I gave one to my grandma and she really liked it. I did think that the cake this time was much less moist and not fresh. I was surprised because when I ordered the day before they were sold out of it, so I'm not sure what happened. All of the cupcakes didn't seem as fresh this time as the last time I ordered. The what's up doc w/ walnuts is basically carrot cake. It is soo good, especially if you love carrot cake (like me). I didn't try the bear claw because I gave it to my mom, but she enjoyed it. The champagne dream was very very good. I really liked it, the frosting was so yummy! I love baileys and I was excited to try the baileys hot chocolate, but it was not it for me. I didn't like it much, it was too much chocolate and didn't really taste like baileys. I honestly think it would've been better on vanilla cake, but that's just my opinion. Overall, I am giving it a 4 because sometimes the cupcakes aren't fresh and this is extremely disappointing. I'm not going to eat 6 cupcakes in one day, so it'd be nice if they were fresh. Most of the flavors are phenomenal and I love that they have a variety of flavors. I also love that they always change up the flavors. I will definitely order from here again. I just think that they should read my review, and other reviews, and realize that they need to start making all of the cupcakes fresh. Maybe they could sell the older cupcakes a discounted price or donate them to a food bank or something, but you can't charge what you charge for old cupcakes. read more

I really hate to give one star bc the cupcakes and donuts are amazing here and deserve 10 stars, but the breakfast bagel things are a disaster. Mine had so much cream cheese on it I could have put it on a whole other bagel. The cheddar cheese had melted into the bagel and was like a butter.. the turkey was just random lunch meat Turkey, it was prob one of the worst breakfast sandwiches I've had to date. Blake's needs to come up with a better sandwich, I almost wanted to throw this one away but for $8 I just ate it because I was starving. Also not sure why the cashier was wearing a single glove, touching money and food with said glove on and not changing it, but oh well. read more

I will never come here again. I bought a couple donuts. The signage says $1.45 for a single donut and I was charged $1.65. I brought it to the workers attention. She said yeah, the sign needs to be changed. When I said you should charge what the sign says, she just shrugged. Also, the music was so loud I could not relax or read. Terrible place! read more

Cute little bakery in Birmingham! Lots of sweets to choose from such as cupcakes, donuts, hot cocoa bombs and cookies. They also have bagel sandwiches which was what I ordered. Overall really good quality sandwich. A little heavy on the cream cheese to where it became so messy I couldn't eat it (I love cream cheese, but even I thought it was too much). I had a turkey and Swiss on an everything bagel (ended up being out of their Asiago bagels). Did take a minute to get my sandwich since they were busy, but I understood. We used to frequent this place back when it was called Cupcake Station. I thought it went out of business when I couldn't find it on the website. But then we walked by it in Downtown Birmingham and realized they changed the name and spruced it up. They still have the same great cupcakes, but also have other treats like cider mill donuts which they serve right out of the fryer, which are amazing, and rival those I've had at farms in the northeast. We were highly disappointed after seeing all the new flavors of the month in an Instagram post when we went in only to find the display case completely empty at 9:30 in the morning. There was not ONE of their specialty cupcakes available. They didnt even have a spot for them in the display case. We ordered and asked for cream cheese on the side with our bagels. The cream cheese was globbed onto the bagel. We also ordered cider and didn't receive the cider. The staff seemed frazzled and annoyed that customers were in the store. It was not by any means busy. There were a total of 3 customers including us in the store. This place is amazing! I placed an order this past week for cupcakes (18) and a Carmel apple cake (the BEST) to be picked up Friday morning to take Up North. My order was lost. So needless to say there were no cupcakes or cake Friday morning. The manager (I believe her name was Laura) went above and beyond to have my order ready by noon. This could have been a miss communication on my part too. The staff went above and beyond. The cupcakes and cake were out of this world as always! Well done Bakehouse 46. Bakehouse 46 is a stylish cupcake shop in downtown Birmingham. They have cupcakes in a variety of flavors. You can get standard cupcake size as well as minis. I really enjoy the salted caramel. They also have cookies and brownies. They make breakfast sandwiches although I've never eaten one and they have coffee. They are a bit pricey but I guess thats to be expected based on the location. The only negative that I've encountered is the staff. They aren't very friendly. They act as I'd you are bothering them when you come in to place an order. read more

Oh my, these are some yummy cupcakes. We ordered 60 cupcakes for our wedding (of 25 people - they are so good we were sure our guests would want to take them home - they did.) in the spirit of R&D we had to do some serious tasting to narrow down to 4 flavors. All of the chocolate varieties are super decadent (favorites being salted Carmel and bumpy cake) but we settled on non- chocolate varieties of carrot with nuts, vanilla petal, lemon lust and champagne raspberry. They were the first vendor to show up and set up and it looked great. They used disposable cupcake towers and it was lovely. We did this for COVID reasons to avoid the handling of the cake but I would recommend it even when you don't have a Pandemic to deal with. One thing of note if you DO want delivery and set up make sure you get a plan early because they don't have a delivery team and if someone schedules ahead of you- there might be a delay!! read more

Bakehouse 46 is a relative newcomer to Bham and brings a bakery back to downtown, thank goodness. I didn't know what to expect aside from some sort of baked something as it's called bakehouse. What 46 stands for I couldn't tell you. It's not the address as it's at 136 N. Old Woodward. Perhaps a bit of inside bakery baseball. Now it is part of the Blake Farm family. Why they don't feature this on the sign is beyond me. Blakes is iconic. People don't drive an hour for nothing, play your strengths Bakehouse. Perhaps not ritzy enough for Birmingham. Anyway the place is nice and bright with a few tables and some stools in the window to watch the world go by when it's allowed. Cupcakes dominate as it's affiliated with Cupcake Station. Bagels and bagel sandwiches looked good and with the sandwiches prices from $5 a value anywhere. Since it's Blakes I ordered the cider donuts and coffee. They make the donuts in one of those robot machines in the back. They should have it in the window it's so cool. The donuts were great as was the coffee. I'll have to circle back for other things but this place looks like a winner. So get the Blakes experience without driving to Armada in toney Bham and support this local business. I got food poisoning from here are eating a bagel and cream cheese, it only lasted a day but still, how long was that cream cheese sitting out for, or why did it make me so sick? I cant think of what else would have made me sick; I ordered a cold cider, and an asiago bagel toasted with cream cheese on the side. It was my breakfast and about 20 mins after consumption i was running for the bathroom :( before this experience i tried two different cupcakes, and i threw them away because they tasted like they were from kroger, the frosting seemed like it was made with crisco and not butter but i could be wrong. They even have vegan goods and I have a nut allergy and they were very accommodating to my allergy. They also have a selection of sandwiches and bagels for my savory lovers.
