Outstanding barbecue! I got a 3 meat dinner plate - Ribs, sliced brisket, and jalapeno cheddar sausage. All 3 items, plus the pinto beans and cole slaw were super, and the portions pretty good sized, compared to some other places. I usually judge BBQ places on their brisket, which IMHO is the most difficult piece to get right. Theirs was tender and really flavorful without saucing it. The ribs were nicely done, pulling off the bone and tasty. The sausage had a nice snap to the casing, a little jalapeno tingle, and gooey cheddar cheese all married together. Service was prompt, and friendly. It took a couple of minutes to get to me, but not a big deal. It's good BBQ, not McBBQ. The atmosphere is typical BBQ joint, nothing fancy, but comfortable and clean. I did not get a fried pie this trip, but will likely do so when I come back- which I surely will. read more

Was on a road trip and saw this place on the side of the freeway and decided to stop in for some good Texas BBQ. I won't say I'm a seasoned pro when it comes to BBQ but I know a good BBQ when I have it. I love finding mom and pop shops and this place definitely fits that. We order a BBQ feast enough to feed 4 grown adults. The brisket was nice and juicy and flavor was great. Sausage and ribs were both also good. However, the pulled pork had a weird taste to it. Unsure what it was but we all didn't like it very much. The best part was that it came with rolls instead of sliced bread. If it was warmed and not cold rolls it would of brought it another notch. Parents wanted BBQ again, do you blame them? This time around I was completely poised to join in on the "fun". Of course I was being cautious as I didn't want to completely up-end my diet either. Located in the next town over from the final RV park destination, found this place yet again thanks to Yelp. Loved the indoors, decorated like you'd expect a BBQ joint/roadhouse to look like (Texas Roadhouse eat your heart out!). The staff were friendly and the vittles were off the chain! I had some pulled pork for it's lesser fat content and didn't have any of their scratch sides (there were plenty to choose from!). I have found that in the past any chain restaurant especially when it comes to BBQ joints are a major disapointment and I avoid them. I ran out of driving hours (I am a long haul truck driver) and ended up in a truckstop where the only options to eat was Mc Donalds. NO! Huddle House. OH HELL NO! Or Bakers rib's. Googled there status on the web and was glad to see all there locations received positive reviews and I can see why. I ordered the three meat plate. I picked Ribs (2) a nice pile of Brisket and Chopped Pork. My sides were FF and pinto beans. All this and a drink came to $16.33. The ribs where spot on. Great smoke profile, nicely spiced, moist and that ready to come off the bone with no effort perfect tenderness. Brisket and the Pork was very nice as well they really got there game on here as far as smoking meats go. The Fries were obviously cut fresh in house and very very good. The pinto bean were good they had bacon or fat back in it but it was a little to heavy on the cumin for my liking. All in all this place is a great example of Really fine Texas BBQ. I was passing through this area and other Yelp reviews helped me decide to give this unassuming pit stop a try. While it is not the best bbq I have ever had, it is definitely good. I had the brisket and sausage, which were, like I said, good. I did really like the mild bbq sauce, which coming from me is a huge compliment as I usually forgo sauce (they have spicy sauce too). I did pick up a fried cherry pie as well, but was so stuffed from dinner that I was only able to nibble at it. Don't worry, I took the rest with me. The establishment is clean and comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I absolutely appreciate this level of customer service. I travel a lot for work and it makes my time away from home much more enjoyable when people are sincere. If I happen to be out that way again, I will come back. Thanks! read more

They Always stop here on the way through. First time I was disappointed. Had breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausage & cheese. Eggs were so over cooked they were brown from being left sitting on the cooktop. Will not be back for breakfast. Additional note. You are confusing me with someone else, I do not drink orange juice and I did not have a burrito. You did not address the fact that that the eggs were cooked until they were brown scrambled eggs should not be brown. You are correct in that I have not left a positive post in the past. However I have told everyone I know that you have the best fried pies on the planet. If you're over this way on I-30 and looking for a good bite, Baker's is worth the stop. A traditional Texas style BBQ place, the meat is tender, well seasoned and really hits the spot. I had chopped beef and ribs with pinto beans and coke slaw as my sides. I asked for lean chopped beef and it was exactly what I expected. Full of flavor with only the slightest amount of extra fat. My ribs were excellent as well, especially the sweet rub on top that had candied much like the ribs at The Country Tavern and Bodacious BBQ in Kilgore and Longview, Texas respectively. The sides were traditional sides and were very solid. I would have liked the beans with just a hint more sweet and spice to them, but admittedly that is a preference. My meat pie was made fresh, which only took a couple minutes and was kinda cool to watch. They delivered it to my table when it was ready. Each employee we saw smiled at us or greeted us when they walked by. True rating: 2.5 Let me start by saying that the largest sign on this place says Texas Best BBQ and Homemade Fried Pies. There is a much smaller sign in the form of a pink pig which says Baker's Ribs. I think this is very misleading because I wasn't able to find their reviews before going in. It's a decent place with plenty of parking and the employees are friendly, but the food is disappointing. My husband had two fried pies; pulled pork and sloppy joe. Both pies were sweet (yuck) and the pie crust seemed to be made from Pillsbury crescent dough. I had the baked potato filled with chopped brisket. The brisket was good and the potato was large, but there was way too much salt on the skin and I had to scrape it off to be edible. All fixings are served on the side, which is fine, but the potato was just warm not hot, so even if they served you real butter it wouldn't have melted. Not to worry though, you get two packets of the most flavorless margarine you've ever had to swipe on your potato... it just sits there, like mayonnaise, keeping your potato nice and dry. If the food had been good, it wouldn't bother me that the customer service here is bad too. No one was greeted when they walked in. Others, including myself were looking for utensils after getting our food. They have these dispensers like you would see at a gas station hanging on a side wall that spit out plastic forks. But, no one directs you as to where they are. The tables were sticky and the bathrooms icky. Just an all around miss. I realize that they are off the Interstate and it might be tempting if you're hungry, but please keep driving. You can find great Texas barbecue but it won't be here. read more

This was pretty fantastic. For lunch I had a 2 Meat Combo. I got the brisket and smoked sausage with fries and green beans. I also got a chocolate peanut butter fried pie. The brisket was tender (falling apart) and had no fat on it at all. The sausage was tasty and packed some heat that got me hiccuping. Both were great choices. The greens beans were blah, the fries were nice. The BBQ sauce that they serve with the meat is amazing. The chocolate peanut butter fried pie was like eating deep fried melted peanut butter cups. It's was glorious! I want to try their other flavors, but the pies are pretty big. I probably should wait a while before getting another one. Also, there's a check in offer. Fried pies are gooood! The BBQ is worth stopping for. The sides are ok, so far I've had about half of them and nothing jumps out as memorable. Here's my only major issue. I have gotten gallons of tea from this place on numerous occasions because it's so close to my house. I had to stop because they never clean their tea container and there's always sediment floating around in it and it goes bad within a day. I'll never order tea from here again after about the fifth incident. It also takes them forever to get the tea and most of the time there's someone on the register that has no idea what they're doing. I'd almost give this Baker's a 3 star review from my experiences, but the food and pies are a solid 4 stars. read more
