The pies at Bakers Square are as good as ever. In addition to that you can have a reasonably priced meal. You can mix and match your breakfast and have a lot of food for a very reasonable price which is hard to do at a lot of breakfast places. I also like their turkey dinner, chicken stirfry pitas and their soups and fresh baked rolls are amazing! The very tall manager, Chris, does a great job supporting his staff and is engaging and welcoming with all the diners. He even takes time to check on tables. This is something that you do not often see at restaurants anymore. I'm looking forward to sitting on the patio there until we can dine out in again. read more

Wow - I am surprised at the low reviews from people in March. I think that is when this location just opened. I've been here two times in the last couple of months and enjoyed my meal both times. I've also stopped in to pick up pies only. On my last visit for an early dinner in October, we were greeted and seated immediately upon entering (no wait, but it was off hours). The decor is really nice - clean, fresh, new. Our server, Julie, was very upbeat, friendly and made recommendations. I always have loved Bakers Square and hated to see a couple of locations I used to go to close. I had been here when they opened and service was terrible. Its been awhile, it was convenient after work and on our way to a school event, so I thought we would give it another chance. Not very crowded on a weekday during dinner time. Only a few tables with guests. Our waiter greeted us before we even had a chance to open our menus and I requested a few minutes. We were given plenty of time to peruse the menu without interruption and when he returned, we placed our order. Once our food was served, we did not see him again! Needed additional napkins and drink refills, don't know where he went! Finally stopped a waitress, asked her for what we needed. I expected our waiter would be out with an apology and our requests, but nope, the waitress returned promptly with the napkins and drink and even took the time to ask how everything was. We finished our meals without seeing our waiter anywhere in the dining room and then sat for a long time waiting for our bill. Finally asked the same waitress if she could bring us our bill as we needed to be somewhere and could no longer wait for the missing waiter. I was very surprised, our waiter reappeared with our bill! He asked if he could get us a slice of pie for dessert or a whole pie to take with. Sorry,that had been the plan, I had called family earlier to ask what kind of pie they wanted us to bring, and my son wanted a slice for dessert BUT we no longer had time to wait! We went up front, paid the bill, left a token tip for the waiter and sought out the waitress to give her the remainder of the tip since she earned it. Been to this location twice on the past week. Once for breakfast last week which despite mediocre scrambled eggs the rest of the breakfast was awesome and we decided this will become one of our favorites in our rotation. We liked it so much we decided to go for burgers for dinner Friday night and it was good-not great but decent. The fries I asked for extra crispy and they were not the burgers we asked for medium rare plus between MR and medium. It was not. It was well done. Grant it I know some establishments won't cook burgers anything more than well but than don't have your waitress ask how you would like it cooked as if you actually have a choice. However the burgers were juicy and not dry so it made up for it. Chili was great. And the pie/cinnamon rolls we got were of course off the charts!!! Will go again for mediocre biers when in the mood but for sure for breakfast which is where they really shine. By the way the staff there is friendly, smiling and hospitable. What's the point of a "Pie of the Month" if you run out? My wife and I live across the street from the store's location, and she is a big fan of the Strawberry Hawaiian pie. We went to make Baker's Square our Friday night dinner, and left because they were out of the S.H. pie. That was the whole reason for choosing Baker's Square over other restaurants. The food is not bad at all. I had a burger and really enjoyed it and it tasted very fresh. I also always enjoy the large selection of pies available. The one negative about this location is the service can be very slow at times. We waited for a long time just to get water and refills. We stopped in after a birthday party for some dinner and pie. I had the pick three;. I chose the sandwich, soup, and pie. I'm a huge fan of Pumpkin pie, so I had to have the pick three. I have been here a few times and every time the service has been just OK and the food pretty decent...nothing to write home about, but good enough to have a decent dinner out. The reason only 2 stars is because the way an employee talked to some customers was horrible. Yes, it was free pie Wednesday, and yes, it's busy, but free pie Wednesday happens EVERY Wednesday so you would think they would plan accordingly. First there was no hostess in sight when we walked in and we waited at least 3-4 minutes before someone acknowledged us. There were already about 6 other people waiting for a table. We finally got our name on the list and proceeded to wait. About 5 minutes into our waiting, 2 other couples come in. Once again no hostess in sight. They start talking out loud and I said to them that there is a hostess she is just busy. So they continue to wait and get more agitated as the time goes on. Finally the hostess appears and they said to her, hey can we put our name on a list and you need more help! Instead of saying I know...but I'll be with you as soon as I can, she just says well there is only one of me, and then walks away. Suddenly another person (looks like possibly another host) comes out from the back, sees all the people and then goes to the cash register and just kind of stands there. The people once again ask if he could help them get their name on the list because they have been waiting over 10 minutes. He says VERY rudely, there is only one of me and there is a list....would you like to see it?! It was almost like he was accusing them of thinking he was lying or something. It was very bizarre and honestly if he was saying that directly to me, I would have given him the finger and walked out. Which honestly I felt like doing because that is NO way to talk to a customer. And you know what...one couple did leave and said you lost my business! The only saving grace was that our waiter was very nice and the food did come out fairly fast. Good stuff haven't been here in ages but had a great wednesday lunch with my wife! Had the fish fry, a big mistake after looking forward to it. I had a glob of oil protruding from a over cooked hockey puck (Fish?) and my wife's fared somewhat better as hers was only in a light coating of the fry oil. Ahh- not so good!? Mom and I came here on our normal Friday nights out. We decided to try this one because our favorite server/friend Jeanette is never at the one on Rt. 83 when we go plus she's a manager now so we can't get the great service and have her wait on us anyway!! So we try this brand new revamped old Max and Erma's restaurant. It was very nice inside very spacious and new decor! There wasn't crap laying all over the floor like we normally see at Bakers Square restaurants! Our server was nice but kinda flighty?? She totally ignored us after we ordered and we finally asked the manager to help us out with all our requests! He was very nice but not a server!! But it was obvious our server was slammed so help her out! He did and we were appreciative! Our soup bowls sat on the edge of the table to whole meal. We needed more napkins cause Mon spilled something- no server again! We needed refills on drinks. Mom also needed the heat turned down as she was complaining (she must have been having a flash or something?) but you could hear there was a heating unit right over her head!? We needed our pie and then needed our bill cause we wanted to get out of this pokey restaurant!! I never understood why it always takes so long at Bakers Square!? Perhaps they need better managers or wait staff or more cooks in the back!? We should be able to get in and out of there, it's a sandwich place!? But NEVER at Baker's Square!! After going to another Bakers we know it's they're thing. That's fine you're not rushing us but really we should be in and out of your restaurant in 1 1/2-2 hours!! We're not having a 7 course meal but quicky sandwiches!? I did very much enjoy their new peanut butter pie- yum!! New favorite!! We'll be going back to our old Baker's Square. But seriously get some help in your restaurants- you need it!! read more

Several months after this place has opened I have ventured in to try this location again. I am happy to report that the service has gotten so much better. We had a very friendly waiter who was very attentive and kept us happy. We also had a manager stroll by and ask if we were enjoying everything, so apparently the restaurant has taken notice of some of the negative reviews about the service. The food has been and remains good. I think it was just a matter of getting a properly trained staff in place - Bravo Baker Square, I will be back for more. read more

The pies are still great at Baker's Square. And I've generally found the service to be good in the last year or so. But, I'm noticing a decline in the lunch/dinner entrees. The food is alright, but it used to be good. Last Saturday (7-18-15), we had a chicken breast and a chopped steak entree. They were both OK, but not great. The green beans were kind of mushy. It was disappointing, because their green beans and other seasonable vegetables have usually been fresh and well prepared. It just seems that over the last year or two, entrees and side dishes have seen a gradual decline, while other chain restaurants have been improving the food on their lunch/dinner menus. Admittedly, we ate a bit early on Saturday, so the restaurant wasn't full. But, we left around 6:15, and the place wasn't as full for a Saturday evening as I remembered in the past. Still, if you just want dessert, or you need a whole pie to go, this is the place. read more

Just an FYI - the Baker's Square in Woodridge does not serve alcohol. Not even beer and wine. I like having wine with my dinner, so I haven't been back since they stopped serving alcohol. The food is decent and the pies are great so maybe I'll go for breakfast or lunch sometime. read more

I wanted to try a new breakfast place so I decided to stop here. Walked in and there was no one to greet us. We stood there wondering if we should seat ourselves or continue to wait. We chose to wait and finally someone popped out. She went to put us in a booth that was dirty so she moved us to another booth which was also a little dirty but covered the spot up with my husbands silverware. We ordered our food OMG. The biscuits were microwaved, the gravy canned, the hash browns raw, the sausage links greasy with NO TASTE I'm sure was also microwaved. My husbands omelette was very over cooked and brown. The pancakes were hard like they were also heated up and the orange juice watered down. I didn't complain I just paid my bill and left. No need to Tell them something they already know. We also were excited to have a Baker's Square open here in Woodridge. We've only visited once so far - so I'm hoping things will improve. We were greeted and seated promptly - but we did have a problem with our waiter. He was obviously new to his job - and immediately asked us if we were ready to order. We asked for a couple minutes to read through the menu. Within a minute, he was back. Then he stood nearby just watching us - waiting for a sign that we were ready to order. The sandwiches we had were great - and I loved the tomato/red pepper soup. However, we weren't even done eating and he was back wanting to take our pie order. We said we'd decide on pie when we finished. Again - it felt like he was hovering. It made us feel rushed. When we finished, he took the pie order. This is where things got really disappointing. I have always loved the pies. When you order a full slice - you expect a full slice. We got pieces that were both very tiny and half-destroyed .... like whoever cut them made a mess of them. They tasted ok - but it sure wasn't the size of the slices I remember from other Baker's Square restaurants! We'll probably give it another try soon. If it's still bad - I'm not sure we'll be back (and if the service is still bad - we'd probably just come in to get whole pies). read more

Here's the good, the tomato basil soup is incredible! The service is some of the worst. I went with a friend a couple of weeks ago, we went there to talk because our lives are so busy. We were done eating and just sitting for awhile and the hostess looks over at us and whispers something to the other person and there were five people standing behind them. I assumed, that because we were sitting at a table for 5 that she wanted our table, so to be nice we got up. Then she starts laughing, instead of saying thanks she leans over to her pal and says something along the lines of, they got the hint. Last night I took my kids, wow that was interesting. We ordered from the artisan pie shop.......Wednesday is free slice of pie day so the waitress said, that is not included in the artison pie shop because the pie is already included....I said o.k. we will take whatever the better deal is. The waitress was very nice ...but new.... I got the bill and it was outrageous so I called the waitress over and saw that they charged us for pie. I said I thought it was included in the artisan pie shop deal....I guess it wasnt but the menue appeared to say it was included. Then the manager came over and said that she should have charged1.99 for the pie not the full amount so he would take off the difference, then he came back to the table and told me that for future reference the cheese cake is not included in the pie shop deal.........OMG He was nice but my son said, what the heck mom do you need a Bakers Square set of directions to read before you come in? Then........big mistake....I decided to do take out for work, 4 of us got orders, they said it will be at least 45 min because they are soooooo busy. So we went ahead and ordered. I went to pick it up. The hostess said go to the counter and someone will be right with you. I went to the counter and waited over five minutes and then went to the hostess and asked her to call somebody. They gave me my order and then I went to the car and I thought, I should look at the bag and make sure everything is correct. Sure enough, did not have a large soup. I went back in and told them I didnt have the large soup, they went back and got me a soup (small) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave up I said I have to get back to work and left. I wont be back until somebody takes charge in that place and does something to get the service straightened out. I almost gave them one star, but the soup is good and the people try. read more

My girlfriend and I were quite excited to see a Baker's Square not too far from where we lived, especially since the ones we were more familiar with closed. We've now been there three times, and hence I feel we can give an honest review. Before I get to the nitty-gritty, I will say that the food was very good every time we went, and the pies are still unbelievably good. It's hard to find a better-made pumpkin pie around here, that's for sure! The ambiance was also fairly nice; very clean and welcoming. So, if the food was good and we liked the ambiance, why am I only giving the place two stars? The wait staff. I don't know what or who trains them, but every waiter/waitress we've had so far has been terrible. I don't think I've ever been somewhere where I've had three different wait staff who've all been so uncaring and even downright rude. Now, I can somewhat understand if the place is packed (the second time we went), and I can even understand if the place is new (the first time we went). But, the third time we went, neither of these were true, and we were still treated like we were the last thing the waiter wanted to deal with. If we had to ask about something on the menu, or about the specials going on, we were looked at like we were idiots. I felt intimidated to ask for a drink refill because I felt like I was wasting their precious time. Now, I know waiting tables isn't everyone's favorite job, but you at least have to present yourself (and the restaurant!) with a good attitude and make people feel welcome. After three tries there, I will never go back there to eat again...but that doesn't mean I won't pick up a pie or two here and there. They've still got that going very strong. read more

I have been coming to Bakers square inWoodridge ever since they opened- went through the trials and tribulations,etc- Samara,our waitress is the only good thing about the place- coffee is lousy-I don't think they wash out the pots. the food is ok,though I think overpriced-and turn off the food channel at 7-00 in the morning-I am still trying to wake up.They have several new managers there-I really don't think anyone really understands the place- Biscuits and gravy and Corned beef hash are two of my breakfast favorites- not even on the menu- I need a good long vacation from this place. read more

I have visited this location on three separate occasions, and each time the service was worse than the time before. My last visit was the last straw. When I arrived there was about a twenty minute wait. I don't mind waiting if I feel as though it's because of a packed place. This wasn't the case. There were several tables open, AND also several table not cleared. It was obvious it was very under staffed. I understand I visited on Free Pie Wednesday, but if they know it's going to be more crowded on Wednesdays, they should staff accordingly. The entire time I was waiting for my waiter, and then my food (which they were out of a lot of what I tried to order), the tables (about 6) all around me sat uncleared in my small section alone. I went on to Baker's Square website and filled out a form with my experience at their Woodridge, Illinois location on October 24, 2012. I have yet to receive any response to my issues. read more
