The owner Dave came out & spent a total of 15 min to clean out my dryer vent; told us that the bvent cover was broke but did not offer to fix or replace. Told us he took a picture & would send it to us but never did. When asked how to replace he told us "just to go to Home Depot & get one". The following day we bought one but could not successfully replace it on the roof. Placed a phone call to ask him if he could please suggest a service to come out to do it he told me he "would get back to me" but never did. Found out that this was a common problem with him & also observed that the vent was not completely cleaned either after another provider swept again & released more material. If I could I would not give any stars. Dave came out and said it would be a while because he had knee replacement coming up and through the year and a half I've been working with Bakersfield Chimney I've gotten two visits and told I was very sorry. His daughter answered the phone a couple of times and sounds sincere but they're not. Simple replacement and they decided not to return my calls. I was even told by the second guy that came out that Dave gets embarrassed when he drops the ball and never calls because he got so many customers. Pretty sad when own employee admits to that. I wouldn't even recommend to someone I disliked! So I had this and now have that... Wow, I got a response within minutes of this post and now they want to charge me $1,500 more to move forward! She said I had talked to her manager three times, but I had never spoke to him. She finally hung up on me and text my phone asking me to apologize. Wife wanted the chimney swept. No big deal right? The owner showed up swept up a few ashes from the basin of the fireplace and broke my gas piping. Didn't say anything and left. When I finally was able to get ahold of him he called me an ass for questioning his expertise and the quoted me a charge to fix what he broke. No thanks. His visit is going to cost me money. Since I won't really need his services again for a decade, I figured the least I can do is write a review to help other Bakersfieldians find a good fireplace guy. And speaking as someone who *needed* chimney-related services, I know that there isn't much info about it here in town, so this review will hopefully be helpful! When I moved into my house 3 years ago, I knew it had a fireplace (that passed inspection), but beyond that, I had literally zero knowledge of its status beyond that. And because I'm totally incompetent when it comes to fireplace care (don't judge me!), I figured it would be easier (and cheaper!) to just let the fireplace sit there with the plant the real estate agent put in it. Three years later, I decided it would be nice to have a roaring fire on Thanksgiving. So, like a grown up, I gritted my teeth and called a professional, full well expecting this adventure to cost me approximately an arm and a leg. When I spoke to the gentleman at Bakersfield Chimney, these fears were put to rest: $95 if it needs cleaning and, if it doesn't, he wont charge me to come out. How many home-repair folks would do that? A plumber or an electrician will totally charge you for their time if they come out for nothing, so it's tremendously nice of Bakersfield Chimney not to charge if it turns out you're fine. He was able to come by the next morning, which is great. In the meantime, I popped over to Lowe's and picked up a set of vented gas logs, so I don't have to worry about wood, no burn days, and cleaning the fireplace. $150 well spent for the lazy homeowner, let me tell you. When Bakersfield Chimney came out this morning, I sprung on him the new logs and asked if he could install them. I knew he'd charge for this, but it was far more reasonable than expected: $75. He did a great job, too- everything looks nice and is working beautifully. So, if you need a chimney sweep or any fireplace related repairs, definitely give Bakersfield Chimney a call. They were quick, friendly, and totally reasonably priced. read more

We called this company today to get a quote on cleaning the dryer vent which is on the roof. They provided a reasonable quote and Ken was at our door within an hour of our call. He was very professional and quick. The vent was very dirty and blocked. Once Ken cleaned the vent the dryer started working again. Thank you for prompt attention and great service. This is a great company, they have swept my home twice. Today they came out to clean my dryer vents. The dry vent was burning lent because it was so full. YUCK! The chimney sweeper was professional and quick. He went into the attic and found that the piping was dislocated he put in new piping and a new cap on my roof. Excellent work. I hadn't really heard of any chimney sweeping companies in Bakersfield, so I took to the Internet and searched. Bakersfield Chimney is one of a short list of companies that came up in my search. So, since there was a good review already on yelp, I figured I'd give it a shot. I would highly recommend Bakersfield Chimney to anyone who needs their chimney serviced. A man named Matt came out to my house and was very friendly and quick. One of my main concerns was that I didn't want to get soot anywhere but Matt was very clean as well. He laid out a tarp and was in and out soon. The pricing was very reasonable as well. they charged me $210 to have the chimney swept and spark arrestor installed.
